I need tomorrow! Yikes a friend came over this afternoon bearing tortilla chips and tostitos cheese! :omg: Not good my friends, not good. I hit 1600 calories today!!! That's like 1000 more than I've had any day this last week! This is so wrong, I can eat solid meat again albeit slowly, and I can eat chips but I can't eat lettuce, what's that about? She brought a lovely salad with her too and I could only pick at it, the romaine just wasn't being very friendly with my band. Oh well. Betty glad to hear you had a splended day Mine was lazy and relaxing Sunday here with lovely weather.

Please Help I cannot take it!!!!
waterlily1072 replied to michelletur's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The gas won't affect your life or anything it's just annoying at times. When I am really tight right after a fill I feel like I need to burp and can't or can only get out a little one only to need to do it again and it's very frustrating. I will try gas-x next time. As for feeling tight, try something warm to drink. Warmth soothes and opens the stoma which should help the gas release and sooth your throat. I prefer hot honey water as the honey coats the throat and calmes any irritation. -
Clothing patterns designed for weight loss?
waterlily1072 replied to pixcess's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Skirts are the best, especially elastic waisted ones, most of my bigger skirts I can still wear because of the elastic. Some I have had to give away but still. I can wear elastic waisted skirts up to 2 sizes smaller and sometimes 4 sizes bigger than what I am currently in slacks. All of my old pants have had to be given away but I have a serious collection of skirts. Skirts are also easy to alter yourself even with a safety pin! If you wear a blazer or a style of top that doesn't tuck no one would ever know. I saved all of my good quality clothing that I purchased through the years and boxed them up. I know have a fair amount of clothing all the way down to size 18. I have a few holes in my wardrobe at each size range that will need to be filled in but that is what goodwill is for! People donate a lot of really nice clothing all you have to do is look. -
I have been having weird back pains in the center of my back and sharp pains throughout my instestines from top to bottom but not all at the same time it's like it's travelling and every once in a while over the course of several hours I will feel it in a different spot lower than the time before. I know I have issues with constipation and have been using milk of mag at least twice a month. Is it from constipation possibly or could it be small gallstones? Either way it is not bad enough to go to the doctor for yet, just curious. My sister had gallstones and hers caused back pain that they kept misdiagnosing. The same foods that triggered that for her are the same ones that trigger bad indigestion for me so it makes me think hmm....

That is so great! Congrats! I too love the pic, your dd is a darling. I know the proportion issue, I am a 22/24 on top and a 26 on bottom, I have not changed shirt sizes for the last 3 pant sizes! It is slowly getting better. I think once my pant size meets up with my shirt size they will stay similar the rest of the way down, at least I hope they do!

Pretzels are a yummy choice as are quaker rice snacks, they are app 70cal per serving and very filling and astonishingly good. For lower carb options, a low fat string cheese, a small salad, almonds, peanut butter. It is normal for banded folks to have 3 meals +1 planned snack. Most people like that snack in the afternoon between lunch and dinner because there is so much time in between those two meals. If you have the snack it will help with your portions at dinner and also help keep you from eating too fast at dinner

Am i the only one here who cant have potatoes/pasta on mushy stage?
waterlily1072 replied to JA4602's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doc's only rules are no liquid calories except 2cups of ff milk, and 56g of protien min and 25g of fiber, eat the protien first then veggies then grains. I personally don't eat pasta or potatoes as they don't generally agree with me. Potatoes feel like they sewll up in my pouch and then I feel like I need to burp, not overly pleasant and pasta is a widely known caution food for bandsters as it sticks for so many of us. -
Hi Betty, we are in Gig Harbor, just west of Tacoma. We don't normally get down south of the city but maybe this summer we can plan a trip so we can go shopping or something. I think we are about an hours drive from Portland so that gives an idea that way too. I just met a lady who was banded 3 weeks ago, so the beginning of April, she is already registered on the site but is insure of how to navigate the forum so we are getting together soon so I can show her around. I already told her about all of you wonderful wise women and she is very excited. As soon as I told her I was waterlily she was like "I know you!" lol, she has been lurking and reading a bit

I hear ya Betty it was cold and rainy here on the peninsula (western wash) but despite that we did what we signed up for and helped clean the church campsite to get it ready for the camping season, I wanted to sit in the cabin by the fire but no such luck, hehe. We camped overnight in a cabin with a bunch of folks from church and had a campfire and watched the kids roast marshmallows (no I didn't have a single one!). This morning we got up at the crack of dawn to fix breakfast and then started cleaning, raking, sweeping, cleaning out the firepits etc. The camp site is huge and our little family did 2 of the long houses and surround area then we were done! Whew, my hands hurt from gripping the rake and broom for so long, lol. But I got in way more than an hour of excersise this morning so I am happy and I am sitting right at 270, just waiting for the next couple of days to drop me off into the 60's wahoo

OK LapBandit first off CONGRATUALTIONS!!!!:clap2: Great job on your walk!!! OK now for the PB thing, don't worry, you were probably still swollen from this morning when you tried to eat tonight. First rule of thumb is once you PB 24hrs on liquids then try mushies then back to solids. Right now your poor stoma is so irritated from 2! I would recommend liquids only tomorrow then on Monday try mushies and if the mushies go well then back to solids. When I swell I stay swollen for a couple of days so I actually do 2 days of liquids if I have any irritation. I am sure everything is fine so relax and enjoy your evening basking in your success!!! Now for me! Last night we camped out in a cabin with 11 other adults and kids for a church camp grounds clean-up and is was so much fun! This morning we got up early and spent hours cleaning, raking, sweeping etc. to get this huge area ready for camping season. It was a lot of work and a lot of fun. DH and I came home and crashed, lol. And I am down 2 more pounds!!!

This is my biggest fear also. They are talking about doing my next fill under flouro which scares me cause if there something wrong I'm afraid to know. I do think that occaisonally going on liquids for a few days is a good idea for the welfare of our bands and our stomachs/esophagus. If I have a day where I feel like I've overdone things I will often follow that up with a couple days of liquids. I'm not sure if it helps but it makes me feel better. Well tonight we are camping out and tomorrow morning bright and early spending a good 4-5hours on a park clean up project! So I will definitely get in my excersise tomorrow and in a super fun setting! DH and one of our daughters is coming with. Packing the essentials as soon as I finish this post. See you all tomorrow...

Slow loser needs advice from good losers
waterlily1072 replied to Oregondaisy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Denise OK good for you on the excersise and the tracking your calories. Now, make sure you measure your food and be totally honest on your calorie count no one needs to see it but you. Once you've figured your average, try lowering it just a little and see what happens. I know many folks talk about starvation mode but honestly my surgeon and my pcp both say that starvation mode is a load of hooey and I believe them. It may take more effort to get your body to burn fat with the hormones you are taking also depending on how much you've confused your metabolism through the years with yoyo dieting. Slow and steady wins the race. I know I will drop around 20-30lbs then plateau for a while, but during my plateau I lose inches so take measurements because you are probably making progress without realizing it! And last talk to your doctor about the possibility of changing your meds. Last I heard hrt is totally optional and rather controversial as to it's safety, so ask, it never hurts to find out more. Other than that you seem to be doing everything right. Good luck and I hope you start to lose soon -
Keep trying! Many insurance companies will deny the first try or two but eventually they cave in. Just keep working on getting your BMI below 50 and keep applying for approval. This board is full of banded folks who were denied by their insurance at least once and eventually got it covered. Don't give up

OK I am breezing through the pounds again yay  and I am getting really close to the 60's! I don't even want to discuss the century mark, I don't want to jinx it and have a stall. on purees stage..i can have cheese. can i have pizza topping (cheese)????
waterlily1072 replied to JA4602's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
warning, melted gooey cheese has been known to be problamatic for some bandsters, now is not the time to take a risk of that sort. Later after you've healed there are healthy pizza options but for now, I would recommend passing on it. -
It might seem a little decadent as it does have a bit of sugar but I love baked beans and pork&beans, they are mushie and yummy :hungry:
-
Well avoid the buffet's if you can but you have to eat so make sure you choose foods that fit your post-op eating plan, sounds like you are on mushies? You can try jello, pudding, soup, yogurt, cottage cheese, if possible try to get sugar free, but that may not be an option so remember texture is everything while you are healing! If possible you can go to the grocery store there and stock up on ready to drink protien shakes and sugar free yogurt and lowfat cottage cheese, of course that would require a cooler that you are faithful about restocking ice in or a refridgerator in your room (if you tell them it is for medical purposes they can accomodate you) other than that have a great time  It's not as hard as you think to find band friendly food even while in the post op healing phase.

OK apparently we can't edit posts right now so I'll add one, I searched out "rep power" and apperently even the mods aren't sure exactly what it is, but I have deduced that we can click on the scales above any post and choose to approve or disaprove of a post. Those numbers get added to a persons overall rep power number. I have yet to figure out if a bigger number is better or a smaller number. I have tried voting on peoples posts but it hasn't been enough to affect them one way or another.

good question I'm not sure :cry

Do you have problems with protein bars?
waterlily1072 replied to derbygirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I like the atkins advantage bars, they are pretty tasty decent amount of protien and very low carb, they do fill you up quick though they really are a meal replacement more than a snack. I suppose on a tight day they could cause at the very least a nice sliming session as every bar I have ever tried, and I've tried tons, are all pretty dry. -
Yes I have LapBandit. Are you opposed to getting another fill? I find that good restriction does help with the head hunger quite a bit. Other than that I think it's just that psychologically we get tired of always eating right and just want to have those yummy decadent things that are so bad for us. It is a trecherous slope giving in to those thigs too. Once you start it's hard to stop, at least it is for me. The great thing about the band is that even if we take time off from "dieting" the band is always there waiting for us to be ready to work at it again. Look how long my rut was, 3 months!!! Now I am back on track, I don't always like that I can't eat that juicy burger but I sure like the results of the weight loss. Let's face it we all love food, during a moment of sanity we decided to get banded so that we could control our love affair with food, some days we just need to rely more on the band than our own willpower, maybe it's time for you to take a break and let the band do most of the work and get a fill. There is nothing like a little rapid weight loss to get you motivated and in control again

Another gall stone question
waterlily1072 replied to waterlily1072's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks, yeah the back pain is hitting right between my shoulder blades which is not where I've ever injured it. Well I guess if it is my gall bladder it will eventually get bad enough to make me go to the doc about it, until then it's nothing I can't live with for now. -
OK first update. I am gonna try really hard not to get on the scale every day, but no promises  Name...................Starting…...…..Current….…..Goal…....To Go losingjusme....................317.25............. ...317.25.............295.............22.25 tann...............................257........... ..........257...............,..232.............25 juliegeraci......................232.............. .......232..................220.............12 Josette..........................340............ .........340............... ..315..............25 Inner_me................... ...306............... .....306..................280..............26 Elisabethsew..................278................ ....278..................255..............23 Waterlily1072................278.................. ...273..................252..............21 Libra.............................230............ .........229.................205...............24 Lapbandit……………..208……………..208……..…...185……..….23 RidinMyHDDream.........281.....................281 ..................256..............25
