    Feeling out of control

I am on mushies transitioning into soft solids like white fish. But I was so hungry after not having anything but liquids for so long that i ate 5 fish filets!!!! OMGOSH That is so much, needless to say I have no restriction now that the swelling is down. As far as I can tell I am not losing anything right now. I am far more carb sensitive than calorie sensitive. And mushies are full of carbs! Help, does anyone have any ideas for high protein, 0 carb mushies/soft solids? Is tuna fish and canned salmon soft enough mixed with a little mayo? If it is I am so sending my husband to the store right away! I feel like such a failure right now and 4 weeks to my first fill :think

    Feeling out of control

Thanks guys I needed that bit of support today. I know the last two days i was more in 1500 calorie range, and I am ashamed to say the filets were breaded. I told my hubby in the future we can't buy the breaded ones. And for me, I have insulin issues, if I eat any carbs at all from a non veggie source my body produces large excesses of insulin. Then my body turns all those little carbs into stored fat. I am actually one of those people who's weight gain isn't entirely my fault, mostly, but not entirely. I did after all eat the doritos with sour cream when I would PMS after all. Insulin issues or not, I did choose to eat the junk that made it all far worse. But this is a new life without the junk!:clap2: And I can do this Oh and Yoda, my advice to you would be to not eat the baby food in front of your hubby. If he is anything like mine he will get grossed out. I grossed mine out a few times on the combos of foods I'd put in the blender. The one that really did it was refried beans, cottage cheese a little taco seasoning and a little bit of milk to thin it out.

    Question about pee color (sorry)

Huh I always thought it was the opposite Wheetsin, that your poop was supposed to sink, if it floated you were sick. But I heard that many years ago, lol, either way I love this thread. Hehe

FDAs 3 yr study in lap band

Well my surgeon considers 60% at 2yrs a clinical success. Their success rate at that clinic is very very high. They also say that many of their patients go well beyond that mark to lose anywhere from 61% to 100% of excess weight depending on the individual.
  5. Welcome alison and grats! ~~~~~ Teresita you changed your name!, but I had to tell you, this is why my husband must notice, lol, he will always notice my boobs.

My husband wanted me to ask this.

Well, it depends on how much time you spend sitting. While I'm online I also cook, do dishes, switch laundry. As long as you aren't neglecting houshold chores and you are getting in 30 min of excersize a day it is not affecting your overall activity enough to contribut to your weight issue. Most of us can attribute or weight problem to overeating plain and simple. Then factor in that we get support from this board that helps us continue forward toward weight loss and healthy living. These forums are a good thing.
  7. You are doing gret Wheetsin! No matter what the different scales say. Fact is you have lost a lot of excess weight! I hope I can do as well. As for willpower that is what we are here for, to keep you motivated. One thing that has helped me is this statement... Commitment is more powerful than willpower Good luck, we're here for you if you need us
  8. Scale still reads error, I think I am about 13 lbs away as of 3 days ago. This is so frustrating. I didn't get the big loss that so many get right after surgery :Banane56: I just want to lose some of this to see that it is working. Meanwhile my swelling is going down so I am starting to experience hunger. Looks like I will need a fill at the 6 week mark. I know I am just starting out on this journey but it feels like it has been forever, or at least since the first kid in school called me fat, like 25 years ago. That is a long time to struggle with weight, and now that I have the answer I feel like I am losing all patience and that my emotional stability is all tied up in losing this weight. Some complain that their husbands don't compliment them, well it is just as painful for me when mine swears I am shrinking and I know I'm not yet.

    Sugars

I think that greatly depends on the person. I have insulin issues so for me any non veggie carbs make me gain weight. Others can tolerate a lot. If you want to know where your best spot is, count your carbs and get the sticks you pee on for atkins, they will tell you when you are in the fat burning zone.

    Mexican Food!!! Yum!!

Yes you will be able to eat mexican food again. Maybe not tortillas, but definitely a few chips and the rest :Banane56: As for drinking I'm not sure if you mean water or margaritas, lol. You can drink while you eat but you will be really hungry really quick and are likely to eat a lot more. I guess if it's only once in a while it won't hurt.

    The things kids say

I thought that I would share this with all of you, it made me laugh. When my 8yr old daughter first saw me after surgery she said, "mommy, you don't look any skinnier" with a very confused look on her face, lol. She now understands what the surgery did, and that I still need to work at losing the weight. Thank goodness for the booklets with the pictures so she could have a better idea.

What is your food weakness, (demise)?

My biggest things are chips, bread, and pasta seeing as how I don't have hunger right now the chips are no big deal. And since so many people have trouble with bread and pasta, I am going to choose to believe that they will cause problems and not go there. I will never be able to eat the chips in enough volume to harm me too bad as long as I am careful.
  13. The beef jerkey interests me, can we eat beef jerkey. I would think it would be a tough one to chew to mush. If you try it I'd be careful.

    Wow, will I ever?

Will I ever be able to eat food like everyone else here seems to? How do you get your calories in? Especially if you are doing lowfat stuff. I am struggling just to get in 500 calories. Some of you talk about eating 1000 per day. I thought we were supposed to eat 3 meals a day and a planned snack. If we are only supposed to be able to eat a cup full of food at a time how is it possible to get all the calories in? Seems to me I'll barely be able to get the protein in. Maybe with solid food it is easier to get the calories.

    Diet Dr. Pepper and spaghetti

Carbonation is really uncomfortable. My husband brought home some flavored water thinking he was being sweet. It was corbonated! I let it go flat but it still had a tiny bit of carbonation in it, I took one baby sip and instant discomfort and gas. I had to chew a gas-x fast. I do not recommend it. I was a major diet coke drinker. Almost a 12 pack a day! Quit at midnight the night beofre the surgery. Amazingly I don't miss it really at all, and with the pain meds I didn't even have a headache with withdrawl As for pasta, my plan is to never try it. It is a trigger food for me, so best to just tell myself it won't go down. Good luck, this is a hard journey for all of us

    hello to everyone

Hi, and welcome to the forum
  17. waterlily1072

    Just had a hard day

You're doing great, this is the hardest part I think. Stay focused, we can do anything for a short time. After your blood sugar levels out it gets much easier, for some that is 2-3 days, for other like me a whole week, but it does finally even out and the headaches go away and you even stop feeling hunger.
  18. waterlily1072

Did I do the right thing?

Well I can't answer too much to what a fill will do, I am still to early on my journey. I can say that your doctor should be more accesible. I can e-mail mine or make an appointment anytime. I would make an appointment with him and discuss how you are feeling. Maybe he can guide you. Or maybe you need a new doctor that has more time for his patients. Not everyone can fit their life to one day every 4 weeks for fills, What about emergency unfills and the like. Maybe a more seasoned person can help you more. Hang in there though, I would say give it a year before making any big decisions.

    The things kids say

They are great motivation! I am looking forward to being able to take them to the zoo and not have to sit and rest all the time. And to be able to run and play with them in the yard instead of sitting on the porch and watching. Someday soon
  20. Yay, I know it's soon, but had family here from out of state. Went to a mexican restaurant and had yummy soup. Just a slightly spicy chicken broth and some well cooked soft veggies that were easy to mush in my mouth. It was a delicious change! It felt empowering to go out to eat and not pig out. I pulled the big pieces of chicken out and the cob of corn (saved those for my hubby to eat later as a snack)

    Messed up Body Image!

Well my self image is already skewed and I am only at the beginning of my journey. I read a book once about a gilr who lost a tremendous amount of weight and struggled with thinking of herself as thin and physically attractive. I think none of us ever really sees ourselves how others see us. Looking in the mirror is not going to fix that. No one ever saw you as the funny fat girl, they saw you as the funny girl, and I am sure they still do. My family doesn't look at me and see fat, they see me. Now, I'm bizarre, I don't think of my self as this fat, it always shocks me when I go shopping for clothes that my size is the same as that really fat person standing next to me, I ask myself, how can we wear the same size, I'm not that fat. Boy am I messed up. My point is, who you are isn't changing, it's that your body is changing and your brain is a little behind and a little confused. Give it time, and know that we all think you are doing great and looking great

    New and upset.

Keep sipping your liquids! Don't move to solid food yet!!! I know you are hungry now but I promise you won't stay hungry. It will get better, and your soreness will go away. Just hang in there, we are here for you. Treat yourself to a little sugar free ice cream, or a fudgesicle. Make your hubby rub your feet. Pamper yourself and try to get your mind off of the hunger and soreness.
  23. Good for you Funny  I know you can do it! My scale still reads error, and I won't be driving all the way to my surgeons office just to weigh in. An hour drive and $15 in gas just isn't worth it. So until my scale reads an actual weight my ticker will remain stationary. I am kicking it up though, gonna start a little exersise this week and gonna make sure i get at least 500 calories. I think I may be in starvation mode. Here we go

    Planter Faciitis

A friend of my husbands had that and he went to this foot place called neovita. They make corrective arch supports for your shoes. My husband has a pair of them for his flat feet from there and they have really helped for both problems  Good luck to you I know it is a painful issue.
