How Long Does The Sliming Last????
waterlily1072 replied to wyldvelia's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Restriction can vary a lot even in one day just from natural changes in Water retention and hydration. I never know if I will be able to eat 1 cup of food, or twice that, until I am in the process of eating. I get at least half of my daily Protein with my morning cottage cheese. I can't stand to really eat in the morning, so this is a great alternative and 28g of protein to start my day! I am a little scared of getting good restriction too quickly as I am not sure I am a really good chewer yet, although I try. As for scrambled eggs, I always add just a little mayo to the mix and it keeps them moist and no problems, I cannot have eggs any other way, even without restriction, hard boiled seems to be the worst, ouch. -

Thanks Wheetsin, I will look into that Yes I have enough time to eat a healthy lunch, but I am afraid to eat anything that may not agree with me while at school. The hard thing is that we can't drink anything outside of the break room, so I have to go hours at a time without water, then I have to drink it all at once, making it hard at lunch time to drink and eat , I will figure it out though, this is only week 1, and I have a year to go. Grats on the size change by the way, I can finally wear my 30's comfortably yay, next stop 28's -

Grats Wheetsin! Well, I am very much due to have my first fill, but my new school schedule won't allow it till the monday after memorial day I am going to school for cometology so I am going from sitting at my desk all day to standing and moving all day! BIG CHANGE! Also, when at school, I can't snack and lunches are too short to overeat and breaks are too short to eat and water is more important than food, so, my calories are plummeting and I am very hungry. When I get home I am too tired to care. Only reason I am getting enough protein is cause of my morning cottage cheese andmy wonderful hubby who always has chicken waiting for me when I get home. Then I crash for the night. So hopefully I will start losing faster even before the fill. Can't wait for good restriction so I can stop feeling hungry. BTW someone fax me some energy K? I have gone from 10 hrs of sleep a night to 6! Tough transition. -
I really wanted to get married so I read a book called "How to get Married in a Year or Less"? It was great, it helped you figure out who you were and what you wanted in a husband. I eliminated casual dating and only went out with men I thought had potential, ie met the requirements. I dated a lot!!! I got on a christian dating site and met guys there too. In fact that site is where I met my husband We are very happy and married for just over 2 years, newlyweds still I believe the key is to meet lots of people and not to waste your time on those that don't meet you needs. There is no such thing as the one and only right person. You can love many times in your life. Find one that you love and loves you back. It's sheer numbers and working on yourself in the process. Good luck PS if you just want to date casually there are lots of great men out there who don't want a commitment, just a fun girl to hang with

Hey Telly, looks like you found the solution for you I can't relate as I have never done any sleep eating, but I am sure you aren't alone. I do turn my alarm clock off while I sleep though.

Yay Joyce! Well I keep slowly losing, I wish I was losing fast but without any restriction that is hard to do. I have the VG so right now the 21lbs I have lost is all me. I start beauty school tomorrow which will take me from sitting most of the day to standing all day so hopefully that combined with a fill next week will start to pick up the pace. Either way I am on target for a 100lb loss in the first year. I know why I am losing slow, I have days where I totally eat the wrong things, but I am getting better at it. Boy I hope that first fill is an aggressive one. -
Question about late day hunger

I don't have restriction yet but in the evenings I can totally scarf on popcorn. I am trying to break that habit. -
Your opinions needed: Deciding on a Goal Weight (or Range)
waterlily1072 replied to NewSho's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I looked at height weight charts to find the "ideal" I chose at the top end of ideal and that is my starting point for a final goal. If I never make it all the way there oh well, but I am sure as heck gonna try  Also remeber obese people build up a lot of muscle and heavy bone mass from carrying so much extra weight. Your ideal will probably be a little bit higher than the charts. -
I was a diet coke fiend, can't tolerate it now at all. I drank it all the way up till midnight the night before surgery. Quitting smoking is awesome and really hard, good for you :clap2:

2 ?'s - port pain and pregnancy tests
waterlily1072 replied to lovecats85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I am no expert but I have known several women who had otc pregnancy tests read false negatives, never a false positive. One women was told repeatedly by a local clinic that she was not pregnant. It took a good 8-10 weeks before she would test positive. When they did the ultrasound they discovered that she had been pregnant all along. Go figure. -

Feel food moving through your pouch?
waterlily1072 replied to Stitchy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have felt it when i didn't chew properly, and boy did I. Chew chew chew, it can get downright uncomfortable if you don't. Mostly it is just a sensation, I think wheetsin described it pretty well. I didn't feel it till I was on solids, and then only a couple of times. I am sure I will experience it much more when I get some restriction. -
Reaction to Chinese food!! - - Help!!
waterlily1072 replied to SherriWittler's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I don't even have good restriction yet and chinese food is a no go. It doesn't make me PB exactly it goes down eventually but is an uncomfortable ride. Pizza is the same thing, tried that for the first time tonight and well, I won't be doing that again. Everyone is different just gotta try things cautiously and see how you fare. -
Everyones body is different. Mine adapts to whatever I do unless I mix it up a bit on a regular basis. So I keep my calories to a range that give me quite a bit of variance and every other weekend I don't count calories or sugars I just eat what feels good according to my band keeping the protien first rule.

Husband says "I don't think you should get the band"
waterlily1072 replied to Constance's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I told myself over and over, just one more diet before I take the plunge into wls. I spent 3yrs doing that!!!!! I could have been thin for my wedding instead of having photos that I hate. I could feel good right now instead of tired with a back ache. If only I had done this sooner. If I knew then what I know now I would have gone to mexico and had the band put in years ago. I feel like my youth was wasted on being fat and unhealthy shackled with a low self esteem. This is about you not about your husband. You have to know that you are ready. Just don't wait so long you have a sore behind from kicking yourself. -

WAHOOOOOOOO! My scale now longer cries out in agony! It gives me a number!!!!!!!!! 330lbs and that is gonna be the scale I stick with so from here out it should be fairly accurate. Meanwhile A total loss of 20lbs and not even a fill yet. I know many lose much more in the beginning, but maybe this means I won't hit as many plateaues, a girl can hope after all  -
I tried to eat a hard boiled egg mashed up with a little butter. I obviously missed a piece of the egg white and it was miserable going for about 30 minutes. I have virtually no restriction and yet I still felt it :Banane13: maybe i have more restriction than i thought?

Is Randy Jackson (Idol) gaining it back?

I heard a rumor that it was RNY. Not sure how credible the rumor was though. -
Unable to drink soup @ TOM?!
waterlily1072 replied to legallyKristin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think I'm the opposite. I finally got my period to end (with a little medical help) and now I have more restriction than I did. Kinda half way between initial swelling and wide open. Go figure. -
Not your usual Constipation
waterlily1072 replied to waterlily1072's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks, I think I am gonna do clear liquids for a few days and clear out my system too. Start fresh. -
Count me in. I have hyperinsulinism and I normally have the virtually no period, until I startedd losing weight. The loss trigged what I like to call a gusher, doc had to put me on meds for it again. Metformin didn't seem to help me much that I could tell. I wish I could answer the rest of your questions but I am no where near goal. My surgeon did say that I may lose a bit slower because of the PCOS but that I would still lose.
