It should start tomorow, everygirl deserves one really good piece of chocolatae on valentines day  just one mind you, and for me it will have to melt in my mouth. I really swelled up yesterday afternoon after my fill. I know I will go back to where I was when they filled me and will be good after the swelling goes down, but for now I am on a liquid diet. Tried some cream of chicken soup last night (homemade too) it was delicious I might add, but alas I was too swollen for even the tiniest piece of chicken to go through and had my very first PB. I thought I had had one before but while it might have been a really mild one this one was terrible. Now I know why everyone talks about them the way they do. Part of me felt great because I felt initiated into the land of good restriction and the occasional pb when you mess up. The other part of me felt wretched, it took 3 really good heaves to get that stupid piece of chicken out. This was canned chicken too, super moist and squishy. Yuck, I sipped on sf hot cocoa after that cause it made everything feel better. This morning I am having a protien shake. Maybe for lunch I will try something mushy and see how it goes. Oh and I almost forgot, I had a bad day on Saturday and ate a bag of m&m's ove rthe course of several hours, was feeling really low that day. Gained weight :omg: went up to 303, after yesterday's fill I am back down to 300 and I am positive that it will be going nowhere but down now that I have this fill

I went in for my fill today She said not to worry about how many cc's I have in my band, they can hold up to 33cc's before they burst!!! Wow:eek: Anyway, I am sure I won't need that many, I bet no one does, but them's the facts, hehe. Anyway, I told her I could still eat bread and really anything and that I didn't have to chew very well cause everything just goes down. She checked to make sure I wasn't leaking any saline and all is good there, yay. Then she gave me another cc so now I am at 9.5cc's. My uncle took my banded aunt and me out to brunch after our fills (she got one today too). I ordered an omlet cause I figured it would be pretty easy to eat and it was. For the first time since I was a baby bandster and healing and all swollen I actually had to chew really well! And I was actually full after like 15 little bandster bites! I think I may finally have some good restriction going on Bring on the weight loss cause I am gonna meet our next goal, when was it for again? lol.

    Weight Gain

I gained 6 pounds when my mom died, from cookies and ice cream, but it came right off again

Good Job LapBandit I am saving my days calories for a treat tonight. Mashed potatoes and gravy, mmmm, with chicken of course it's the gravy that takes up so many pesky calories. I can deal with my tummy growling all day, I just can't stand it growling at night. I have been low cal tasteless food all day just for that gravy, hehe. :hungry:

I didn't have any soda or eat any junk food. I did drink more than my 64oz's of water today

Dang girl, you go Julie :clap2: Well after reading lots and lots of threads about restriction I see that I have some restriction just not nearly enough. I am so glad I am getting that fill on Tuesday. I think I have just had a hard time dealing with the fact that I have needed so many cc's in my band, and blaming my slow weight loss on depression. I can swallow pretty large pills still, not the really big ones but the medium sized (1/3") ones and four at a time at that.

Elisabeth, I have drank with meals and can tell you that it does affect how much I can eat. Drinking flushes the food right out of your pouch. However, I cannot drink with meals now, i can with a light snack, like a little fruit or yogurt, but solid food no way, it makes me slime, and that is so not fun.

Thanks everyone I did really good today, no cookies and only a few chips but that was only because hubby took me out for mexican tonight. That one meal pretty much blew my calories for the day, but I made it through with no soda! I will worry more about the actual calories after my fill on tuesday. AS for Uncle Sam challenge, count me in. My bandiversary is 4/11 and my anniversary is the 9th so I already have a goal set, hehe, my goal will be 264 that would make a full 90lbs in year one I know it is a steep one, about 3.6lbs a week, but I have all those months of not working it and staying the same in my favor. My body always loses really fast when I start doing things right, it is down the road that it slows down, hehe. So I think I might be able to pull it off, and if not, well then I will have made grand progress I have a mini goal inbetween too for my Mom's birthday.

    Do I need a fill?

OK so here's the deal -I can eat bread -The first cup of food I feel restriction but as I eat I stop feeling it so much and can eat more, sometimes up to 3 or 4 cups of food. -I do not have any reflux -I currently have 8.5cc's in a 10cc band The above stats suggest that I can have a fill, I have no negative symptoms that would suggest that I am too tight. I feel that I should not be able to eat bread, but I am at 8.5cc's already! That's it I am calling my surgeons office and scheduling a fill.

    Do I need a fill?

Well it's not that I feel fulness after the first cup, it's that I don't feel the band I guess. I spoke with my aunt who has been banded a long time and she says I am probably feeling first bite syndrome, because I can feel liquids going through, but only at first. And I have gone with only a cup of food many times because I count my calories, but I still feel hunger within 30 minutes, if it takes that long. I made my appointment and am going in Tuesday

OK the funeral is over and it's time to get back to work. I read a post on my surgeons site today called the 10 most common mistakes wls patients make. Those that I identified with are... Drinking with meals Not taking supplements Drinking Soda Not drinking enough water Not excersising snacking/grazing THAT IS 6 OUT OF 10!!!!!:omg: So I sit at 300 as of this morning. I will tackle 2 things at a time this next 2 weeks I will focus on Snacking and Soda NO COOKIES and NO CHIPS (yes I have been a very bad bandster) NO SODA (I am a diet coke addict but I have already gone without 1 day so the headaches should be at least half gone) also doing the no soda thing will automatically bump my water as I can't not drink something during the day. Also on the soda note if any of you imbibe in it or are temtped too. I have noticed when I go without soda I lose weight, when I drink soda I gain or maintain. I am setting a new Valentines goal of getting off the border between twoterville and tricities, It will be twoterville only for the next several months till I can get to onderland

    600-800 calories!?

Everyone is so different as to how many calories is best for oprimal weight loss. Some times I think surgeons just want to mark people off as successes as quickly as they can so they give rediculously low numbers. I can tell you, my only rules are protien first, no water till 1hr after eating, eat three times a day and one planned snack. And hit 56g of protien every day. That's it! I know many successful bandsters that can only eat 700 cal a day because they physically can't eat more, but they also pb a lot! I can eat 1200-1500 healthy calories but have only pb'd twice (dry chicken) It is all about personal comfot levels and energy levels as well. It really is calories in vs calories out. The question is how many calories do you burn in a day? If your job is physical then you may need 1500 a day to keep from fallin face first onto the floor. Find the optimal calorie level for you to lose and feel good. It might take a little experimentation and that's ok
  16. Firt it is prefectly normal to feel more tight in the morning than at night, I am that way too, I hate it cause I am weakest at night when it come to choices, so I try to eat very few calories with lunch and breakfast so that I can eat a little more at dinner and still be ok. If you are hungrier at night make sure to fill up on veggies after you protien and when you start to feel hungry again that means it's bedtime

I Know this is a BIG NO! But...????

I accidenatally tried some carbonated water soon after surgery, thought it had gone totally flat but it still had a tiny amount and it HURT! Mnay months later after I had seen that many bandsters are able to have it in small amounts so I gave it a try and had a sip of some diet sprite and was fine. Slowly over time I started drinking diet coke again. As it has no claories and doesn't hurt at all I have it when I want it. It is my only vice. I cannot drink it out of a bottle or a can, I always pour into a glass and choose to buy 2liters when I get it so that It goes pretty flat by the time I reach the end. When traveling the little bottles work if I open and then shake the dickens out of it then re open and repeat that a few times. It make most of the carbpnation leave As for burping, if burping causes band slippage (which I highly doubt) then I am in big trouble anyway even without the d. coke,

Thanks everyone Mom passed this morning at around 6am. I was right there with her till the end. I am finally home, still not sure how I managed to make the drive, took 3+hours to get home thanks to traffic, but at least here I can rest and be totally comfy. I will weigh in in a couple of days and find out what I need to revise my valentines goal to, but right now I feel so tight from the stress I'm not sure I can eat anything but super mushies. I slimed like crazy on scrambled eggs this morning, something I can nmormally eat really easy, so gonna take it slow and easy.

Well I had a relapse into chocolate land, I didn't count the wrappers but I do know they were 75 cal a piece. I needed the saratonin. The official word on my Mom is that she has a few days to a couple weeks left with us. I have been with her in the hospital so I haven't had any access to the internet. At this point I am trying to maintain my sanity. She will be coming home in the next couple of days to spend what time she has left surrounded by familiar sights smells and sounds. She is barely conscious only a few times a day now so we are trying to take atvantage of those brief moments to remind her that we love her. It is too hard to count calories right now, it just is, that can wait till after right now I am stuck with hospital food and the fast food and the fattening casseroles friends and family bring by for us. Keep up the good work everyone cause when I get back I want to hear all the good news of your successes and NSV's

Thanks for all the support It makes me feel good to know you are here and that you all care . Now I got on the scale after my junk food fest after getting the news on my mom and grandfather (funeral's today ) and it was at 306 But the last 2 days I have been soooo gooood. Trying to stay between 1000 and 1200 calories and have done excellent! I will not be changing my ticker till i get below the 298 but I will tell you here that I am down to 301! Wahoo:clap2: That is 5lbs in 2 days, I am extatic to say the least. I do however need some ideas. Mid afternoon I am absolutely starving, stomach growling the whole bit. If i get a fill I won't be able to eat anything for breakfast at all, as it is now I am very tight in the mornings but by evening I seem to have loosened up a lot and can eat about 2cups of food(at that point I am full up). I should be eating a bigger lunch but at school there is no time or way to bring something that requires refrigeration, so I have been eating a protein bar. Any healthy low cal snack ideas out there? I was wondering about rice cakes, they are nice and dry and might go through very slowly.

    How can this fail?

I would have gained weight in the last 6 mo instead I've lost. I read somewhere that only 2% of significantly overweight people will ever lose the weight and keep it off for more than a year. 2% vs the statistics you stated are eye opening to say the least. Ask yourself how much are you willing to gain before you finally do something significant with your weightloss journey? How many diets have you tried and failed on? Why have they failed? I spent 2yrs conemplating surgery before deciding and then almost another year before actually going through the steps to make it happen. In those 3yrs I gained approximately 60lbs! We all have our own journey and we all make our own choices and surgery isn't the right choice for everyone. Just remember, statistics aren't everything, they, by nature are very deceptive. If you can lose the weight without suregery that's great go for it, but if you can't then don't let the stats scare you away from surgery.

Everybody, I need you to kick my butt. The next several months are gonna be real tough, my Mom was just diagnosed with liver cancer and it doesn't look real hopeful. I will want to eat chocolate and in large amounts. I am hoping that being in school all day will help tremendously at keeping me from just snacking on junk all day. It's amazing how much a banded person can eat when they break all the rules:guess . But I made it through today without breaking any (so far) and am very proud. I am all set with protien bars for lunches and yogurt and whole grain cereals for breakfasts, and lots of fish and chicken for dinners. And a brand new case of bottled water in my car  I am prepared, but I know I will get weak, I want you all to know how much I appreciate you're always being here whenever someone needs help. Maybe one day I too can inspire someone as you all have me. Now kick away

I"M BACK! Wow you are all doing so great! I wish I could say the same but I went overboard during the holidays. I couldn't eat all that much, but what I ate was high in calories :scared: Oh well Christmas comes but once a year. My leave from school is over, Today is my first day back (I'm late already) and I am making a fresh start. So here I sit at 299 with a Valentines goal of 285 count me in for 14lbs to lose. I am also making a commitment to visit the forum everyday. I haven't been here for a while and the scale shows it, no progress. This week changes are being made and one of them is being accountable and reaching out for support and encouragement
