    Road to "TWOterville"

Well I hope for your sake the PMS passes. Hormones are stored in fat and when you lose the fat the hormones are released into your system. My cycle has been totally screwy since surgery but hey I am having a cycle again I can't believe I think that's a good thing, lol. But when all is said and done once in a while we just have to have that piece of chocolate. Just remember to count it into your calories for the day Not eat a whole bag and then look at the calories, ouch. Dang chocolate goes right through the band *&^*%^*&^*(

    Am I hurting myself?

Every doctors opinion is different on the healing phase as to what you can eat and when. My surgeon allowed liquids period for the first two weeks. The rule was if you can suck it through a straw you can have it. But that is my surgeon. You have to follow what your surgeon gives you or you risk his wrath, and if something does go wrong then he may tell you to find another surgeon because it wasn't his fault. So follow the rules your surgeon gave you.

Grats to everyone, you are all doing so great! :clap2: Julie you will be leaving twoterville soon! I hope you will continue to visit this thread though as we would miss you terribly if you didn't. And Babygrl, don't be afraid of food, as it is unlikely that you have enough restriction yet. Just take it slow, move to mushies and see how that goes, and then to solids. If you PB don't worry there is a learning curve involved everytime you get a fill. Also take one bites and see how it goes down before continuing. Some foods I have to do that with all the time as they are tempermental for me. I have learned to stop before it ever reaches a point where I am in danger of a PB episode. One of those was enough for a lifetime. I am back on track today. I added up my calories for yesterday and choked a bit. The chips and candy killed me. I asked myself why was I eating these things and realized that it was the end of a really hard week. I unpacked all my storage unit boxes which contained a lot of memories of my mom. I was eating out of sadness. I hope that after realizing that I can fight that emotional trigger for food and stay on track for my goal. I would really like to get to 280 for my mom's birthday on Sunday.

    I need to vent

A thought occured to me tonight, Is it against patient privacy laws for the pharmacy to tell my doc's nurse that we have been late picking up prescriptions? Because frankly I feel it is none of my doctors business when I choose to pick up my meds, and it chaps my hide that they said thaot to anyone. I know they told her because she couldn't have known that any other way.

Wow, I really was bad. Broke a major rule of never shop hungry. I bought candy and chips with cheese dip While I can't eat it the way I used to I can still eat it. Like any of us can resist an old favorite when it's right in front of us :think But tonight the kids go home to their moms house and I won't have any more temptation in the house. Sigh, this is not gonna be a good tuesday weigh in for me.

    scarey news

I have apnea as well and I love my cpap. I wouldn't go anywhere without it. I don't know what I'll do when I lose enough weight that I don't need it anymore, lol.

Well sadly the nachos went down really easy. And there is always soup anywhere you go out to eat. Only problem with soup is that you don't stay full for very long. But the good news is that I have my kitchen back! Wahoo! And I can even get to my washer and dryer now to do laundry (much needed)

To weigh or not to weigh

The question you have posed is one that I think most of us struggle with. If I don't weigh everyday, I have a tendancy to get off track with my eating plan, so despite the frustrations of normal fluctuations I weigh every morning (and sometimes at night, hehe)

Well I lost the good girl mojo today. Auntie Flo came to town, hehe (tom). And well my house is filled with boxes and my sink and stove, micro and fridge were all unaccessible till about a half hour ago. So for dinner we went to Denny's. I had broccoli cheddar soup and some of my hubby's nacho's. The nacho's I'm sure put me way over on my usual caloric intake for the day. I'm not even sure how to estimate the calories so I am writing today off as a very bad day, someone sew my mouth shut! :speechles Oh well tomorrow is another day.

    Who Yo-Yo diets still

Ollie that is just your natural body fluctuations, retaining and getting rid of water and waste. It is perfectly normal.

Thanks, I have beed good today too, hehe

    Who Yo-Yo diets still

That is not my definition of yo-yo dieting. A few pounds variance is nothing more than water retention fluctuating. Yo-yo would be lose 15 gain 20, lose 20 gain 5 etc.

    Help - Solids aren't solid.

Sadly chips will alwasy slide through pretty easily. But solid protien stays with me for hours. I can only eat 1/2 cup at a time and it keeps me full for 3 hours! When your pouch is full of protien you won't be able to eat the crap, so eat your protien first. Also you will find that if you don't eat the protien then you will feel really tired, which will nip that little habit in the bud. Just be patient, it takes time to reach restriction where the band actually starts helping you. In the meantime do your best to make good choices. As for 1/3 of the old days, not even close, cause I ate a lot more than a cup of food at a time that's for dang sure.

    Lapband Limbo

I'd just pack on the weight, you will have the pre-op diet and the rest of your life to lose the weight, 10-20 lbs is nothing. But that's just me

    Who To Believe

My opinion is that lapband is the very best choice for most people. It is far safer and is removeable and adjustable. And Yes you can eat spicy foods, or at least I can, and you can drink alcohol, although it is very high in calories. If you are a bulk eater then imo the band is the way to go. Re routing of innards scares the bejeebees out of me.

Anyone Else In The Same Boat???

Wow I would be so frustrated, that is nuts! I had the optin to see any psychologist I wanted and there was no waiting involved. Of course I was self pay. Is it at all possible for you to go self pay somewhere where they are acctually reasonable? Good luck in getting your lapband, I wish you the best.

I'm with you Libra! Although for me it wasn't a margarita it was pringles, ugh. I had a hard time yesterday missing my mom and it culminated to a tubne of pringles and a lot of tears. I did get on the scale however (brave) and I lucked out big time. I didn't gain! Yay So today is back on track.
  19. Ok so my grandmother always used to say that eating some fish every day will help you lose faster and more consistently than eating other forms of protien. She always made me eat fish for either lunch or dinner or BOTH. I always lost a lot of weight when I stayed with her for the summers. I am wondering now if this is true. Have any of you noticed a difference? I think I may do a self study on this and let you all know

Weight loss with Fish vs, Poultry and Beef

I don't bread or flour or fry my fish. I bake it with a little bit of olive oil and seasonings. Also it's not eating just fish but just making sure that fish was one source of protien every day along with others. I can tell you that since I started stepping up my fish intake the last two days since this post I have lost a little more than I did the few days previous, but that could just be coincidence. I think she felt it had something to do with the natural fish oils enhancing weightloss by speeding up your metabolism.

    Tortillas?

Flour is a little uncomfortable but corn goes down ok at the dinner hour and sometimes lunch. But never for breakfast. I also have a hard time with scrambled eggs. Those pesky eggs.

    Bread/rice/pasta discussion

Some days I can have a dry bread with other things, but most of the time bread is a no go for me. I choose melba toast instead and love it! Sometimes I can do Pasta, sometimes I can't, rice is the same. You will find that there are very few foods that you can't eat. However many foods will be somewhere on your caution list. You will come to learn when you feel tight not to try this or that, and when you feel more open know that you can have something that other days you can't. Does that make sense at all. I would say that probably the most common problamatic foods are doughy bread, sticky rice, and pasta for most bandsters. My nutristionist said that it is ok and even normal to PB occasionally as I learn what I can and can't tolerate. It is not a pleasant experience I can tell you, but we are all on a learning curve and all our bodies are different. If you like whole grain breads try them! Take a few bites toasted and see how it goes, then the next day try it again maybe non toasted and see how it goes. This is the process I go through.

    Did I mess up?

You did great! You didn't mess anything up at all. And actually you might be surprised that there was probably even some protien in that soup  One of the things I did on mushies was make cream soup with milk a little butter and a little flour, then I melted in cheese and also added a beaten egg to add more protien. So a basic white sauce with some garlic and cheese +1 egg. Another thing I did that made me really stay satisfied for a long time was I put refried beans and a little cottage cheese in the blender and pureed it, then added some taco seasoning, yum. My husband thought I was nuts but oh well
