    Road to "TWOterville"

Welcome to Twoterville Lizrbit! :clap2: LapBandit, you have lost so much weight, your body is probably having to readjust everything and there is no telling how long it will take. I wathced mine do that when I hit the border and stayed there forever. My belly used to be symetricl then as I lost it became very unsymetrical. At the border it spent 4mo becoming symetrical again, lol. And now it is starting to get unsymetrical again, lol.

Today was a really bad day for me. I felt yucky and so tired so I slept till 3! That was after getting up at 7 to see the kids off to school, I actually napped from 9-3. As a result, I am way low on my water for the day and yup you guessed it, way below my protien needs. Sigh, and now I am just tired and my head hurts so I am going to bed. Tomorrow we are helping a lady from church move so it will be a grueling day.

    Can't take it anymore!

I am wondering if they used a poor choice of band size for you. I would definitely get a second opinion, you should be able to eat healthy foods and solid protien. Please do keep us all posted.

    Bandster with first time problem

I have first bite syndrome too, and from what I understand it is very common. Even water gives me first bite in the morning or after a nap. I have to take a few sips then wait a few then I can drink to my hearts content, the sam ewith eating except I'm full after a small amount, but the discomfort goes away. Best thing for me is to be patient or drink something nice and warm first. One thing I have found is that it is not an indicator of my level of restriction at all.

should I still be in pain 3 weeks after Surgery?

What you are experiencing sounds perfectly normal to me. Many bandsters complain of port pain or discomfort off and on for the first year. It does get better, I promise. Most surgeons sew the port directly to the muscle so that it is more secure. Unfortunalte it also makes it more tender for a while. Just take it easy, supporting the port site is a good idea, whether with a support garment or simply by firmly pressing the area with your hand for momentary discomfort. As for fixing your hair, I didn't want to do mine for several weeks either and it was just past my shoulders, so you are definitely not alone there. If it eases your mind to see a doctor go for it, but I doubt anything is wrong. I understand the feeling like you are gonna fall apart with the stitch thing. I experienced those same fears, it was my very first surgery and I was afraid I was just gonna bust right open, but I didn't. Just relax and visit this site anytime you need advice or for someone to reassure you that is what we are here for :girl_hug: Congratulations on entering Bandland :cake:

    Calorie Requirements for Each Stage?

My nutritionists view (and she is banded and at goal) is that, we should get by on as few calories as possible and still get in our protien, dairy, and veggies.
  7. I would go to the doc just in case. It's amazing what can be contracted in a department store or grocery store. I normally don't think about all the germs coating everything but I do know they are there, most of the time harmless but I would go to the doc. In the meantime all the above lotions are great. We use Aveeno in our house. And oatmeal really does work!

I have a hard time with pasta, it just isn't a comfortable food for me. Just tonight I realized that bell peppers are on the list for me too. Unless I take the time to remove the skin it just isn't comfotable, it doesn't get stuck but it doesn't go down nicely either. And I am so not peeling bell peppers. Other than that I need to share, I switched from fitday to sparkpeople. They have a recipe calculator, so I no longer have to painstalingly list a fraction of every ingredient in my cooking, this in and of itself is worth it! Also they make it much easier to track your water.

One pound is great! We can't all lose 5lbs every week, dang I wish we could, lol. Look at it this way, I heard once (not sure it's true) that you burn an extra 500cal a day during your TOM :girl_hug:

    this is so hard

I too eat for emotional reasons. But for me the band stops me from doing too much damage and I don't do it all the time. I agree the band is only a tool and many people need counselling to help them use that tool to its potential. I think you are doing the right thing to seek help. A counselor might really be the answer for you. Good luck and chin up :girl_hug: Where would you be today if you hadn't gotten banded. I would have probably gained at least 20lbs by now, maybe even more.

    Why are YOU Fat?

Why am I fat? That is a good question. When I was a little girl I was so thin the doctor actually accused my mom of not feeding me! I would easiliy eat as much as my dad who was a big eater. I ate constantly, my favorite snack was stealing a pat of butter cause it tasted so good. I never felt full until I was stuffed to the gills. At around 9yrs old I started to gain a little bit. I was 10lbs overweight and my grandmother flipped out. From that point on every summer of my life was spent dieting on weight watchers (I still have the original plan memorized). All summer long I would diet and excersise and lose the weight, then every school year at home with my parents I would eat out of rebellion, to show to myselef I guess that I could eat if I wanted to and no one could stop me. I was stubborn and I set out to prove a point. From that first summer of weight watchers till today I have been obsessed with food and being able to eat what I wanted. Wanting to prove my grandmother wrong. It took me till the age of 32 to realize that she was right and that I had no clue how to regain control. My band has given me that. Now I really am in control, not the food (at least most days) I believe my fatness is due to never feeling satiated(sp?) and wanting to take control of my life and inadvertantly allowing the food to take control of me. Now only when I am really upset or feeling poorly do food issues become a problem.
  12. I lost 42 at 6mo not including pre-op diet which put me at 53 total. However I did not have restriction till month 10! At six months I was 25% to goal. I think that it important to remember that your loss will depend on your body, your restriction, and your ability to make good choices consistently. The good news is that it isn't a race, the band is with you forever (hopeully) some reach goal in a year others take 5 years, the important thing is they are happier and healthier  Good luck on your upcomming banding.

    What is M/E diet?????

lol, when i did atkins i craved fruit like there was no tomorrow. I only lasted 2 weeks after that, just the smell of meat cooking made me sick. I know a lot of people do well with it and like it but it just wasn't for me. Wehn I read the M/E fast part of the bootcamp thread it reminded me of what I did for my atkins induction, it does work that's for sure, but I'm not one who can follow it and feel good, I became catanonic, and sick and stayed that way.

    What is M/E diet?????

Just thinkabout that makes me nauseous. Flashbacks to extreme atkins, I just couldn't do it. Good luck to all who try

    Lapband Limbo

Surest way to gain weight is eat a whole bag of peanut m&m's with tall glasses of milk, and for the main food of the day eat an entire bag of chips and dip variety is your choice although for max calories I'd go with potato chips and a sourcream based dip, happy gaining  You will feel terrible the next day but I guarantee you will have gained.

    My First 'stuck' episode...now what?

ooh been there and done that. I hope you feel better soon, in the meantime I agree warm liquid or warm mushies. Treat yourself to something yummy and yet healthy, my fave in this situation is really warm water with a tablespoon of honey and a squeeze of lemon, it really soothes and is especially great after a PB episode cause it really helps the throat a lot. Or hot cereal, yumm.

I agree you are doing wonderfull  OMGosh my daughter stressed me out so bad yesterday my band got relly tight. Thank goodness today it's back to normal. It got so tight yesterday I actually had a little reflux last night! Yikes, teenagers. I tell ya if it's not one thing it's another, you can't make them do anything as far as who there friends are and what choices they make away from home, all you can do is watch and wait biting your nails as you hope and pray they don't make a horrible choice that may ruin their life somehow. I need stock in Calgon.

If you can eat bread than you are not as tight as a lot of bandsters. However, you are doing awesome! Everyone needs a different level of restriction. When I can eat bread, I can eat anything and in way to large an amount. But as long as you are losing and the band is doing enough for you personally then you are just where you need to be right now. I managed for a long time with very little restriction, but finally my willpower went all haywire and I needed the greater restriction to keep me from eating the kitchen sink. Later on you may find you need more restriction or maybe not. That's what is so great about the band, it's adjustable!

    Killer Fruit

I was told that peelings from anything, like apples, potatoes, grapes etc. cannot be chewed well enough and can lay over the opening of the stoma causing you to need to pb. If you chew a peeling you can pull it out of your mouth and pull it flat and see it's still in large flat pieces.

What did you feel when you awoke from surgery?

Mine was a day surgery. I went into the OR and 45 minutes later I was in recovery. I woke up almost immediately upon arriveing in recovery, I couldn't talk yet and everything was really blurry. I pointed to my ring finger to ask for my husband and the one nurse thought I wanted my ring and the other one figured it out and said no she wants her DH. I felt a little sore in my abdominal area, I did not have bad gas pain at all, but the repairing of my hiatal hernia is what made me super sore for about a week. I didn't actually feel any real pain till the next day. I was walking within 10 minutes of waking up and 20 minutes later after drinking a cup of water I was released to go home and get some rest.
  21. How about if you eat 2 burgers instead of a burger and fries you will lose weight. Yes I actually heard a dietician say that on a daytime talk show once. After that I stopped buying fries and got 2 sandwiches/burgers instead. Needles to say I gained weight and got used to eating much larger portions.

Thanks, that's what I do to. And as long as I stick to it my calories are where they need to be, otherwise I don't even realizing how many calories I am taking in. It's the accountability that is so important and knowing in advance if that candybar or whatever is really worth the amount of empty caolries in it. One Reeses PB cup is like 150 calories! It's insane for one piece of candy. So I don't have one very often, lol. Like tonight my calories are on the low side so I'm gonna treat myself to some popcorn :hungry: while I watch a movie.

OK so this reflects the weight gain from my junk food frenzy and the again lost. I went up to 294! and am back down to 292 after one day of being good and back on track All I have to say is that logging my food in fitday makes a huge difference for me. It forces me to acknowledge everything I eat.
