    Road to "TWOterville"

Yes hormones are stored in fat cells, when you lose weight the hormones are released. Becaues of my PCOS I never have periods unless the estrogen in my fat cells gets released. So that means, that I am losing fat! And I also agree that this might be happening to you and if you are on the pill and not regular then you may need a different pill or a stronger Rx, you should check with your doctor. Babygrl, 1 pound is a good thing LapBandit, give your body a chance to catch up you have lost a lot of weight this past 11 months. Your body probably needs to readjust before it starts really shedding again.

I know the feeling Babygrl, they just don't shed fast enough. I know for me when I start getting a lot of periods close together it is because I am losing fat, yay. The bad news is it also comes with an instantaneous jump on the scale from fluid retention, yuck! What joy I won't have an accurate scale reading now ofr days .

    April 2006 Bandiversary!!

What is your "Bandiversary" goal? Originally it was to lose 100lbs in my first year, but that isn't gonna happen. Now my goal is to get as close to that as I can! What have you learned this past year? I have learned that without the support of fellow bandsters this is a difficult road. Lifting up and encouraging others is what makes us all stronger together. Could you share your most rewarding NSV (non-scale victory)? Most rewarding is that my back and knees are in so much less pain, in fact most days I don't even notice them anymore. When I started I couldn't push a vacuum without crumbling to the floor in tears from pain. What is your biggest challenge? My biggest challenge has been to try to learn to deal with life's ups and downs without turning to food. I never could have known how hard that would be. What tips would you pass on to the April 2007 newbies? 1 - Stick together and take care of each other. 2 - Get fills when you need them and when in doubt ask your fill professional their opinion on whether or not you need one! 3 - Participate in a support group with other banded people like this one! What is your greatest fear? That I won't know who I am without my padding  What goals do you have for the future? To live, to run, to laugh How has your life changed? I am healthier, I can now see me reaching my goal. I always could picture myself thin but not how I got there, now I can see the way to get there. Has living with the band met up to your expectations? Yes and no. I really thought that because I started at a higher BMI that I would lose faster in the beginning. On the other hand, I am totally moving steadily towards my goal weight now that I have good restriction and the band is now helping me, finally. If you could talk to yourself a year ago, what would you say? Don't feel like other peoples numbers affect you personally. You are an individual and your adjustments are individual to you! You are not like anyboy else, no one is. Some people lose 10lbs in there first year and others lose 150lbs, the good news is that it's ok to be an individual, we all are losing (barring any medical conditions that prevent it) and that is what matters. We can all reach our goal if we are willing to put forth the effort to work with our band and not around it.

Mine was 45 minutes as I was told it would be and that included my hiatal hernia repair.

    April 2006 Bandits' March Challenge

Well I made a command decision. Starting Tuesday DH and I are going to go to the local HS track to walk. We are doing 2 days a week to start Tuesdays and Thursdays. The scale went down again this morning, now 281 yay :welldoneclap: almost to the 70's. And 31lbs away from starting to run! A friend of mine may be joining us. I am hoping as we get into April to move to doing this everyday.

    Weight Watchers

Weight watchers and the like are naturally afraid of wls because they know that one day they will be obsolete. Come on a temporary diet or a lifetime of change, they are scared of loosing their pocketbooks and should be. That said it is a good program, problem is most people can't sustain eating so few calories when they have to deal with hunger. As for wanting to get a handle on what you are eating that is great! If weight watchers helps you do that then use it, I know I have considered pulling out my old ww stuff. If you can't eat that many points worth in a day lower the number of points. WLS patient serving sizes are much smaller than normal recommended serving sizes. Remember you are medically supervised, just make sure to get your protien in.

Thanks LapBandit :welldoneclap: I keep editing my last update, lol, since no one else seems to be as scale obsessed as I am, hehe. But if I have to weigh everyday it encourages me not to get off program cause I don't like to see the scale move in the wrong direction. It's a windbreaker jacket so not so great for pics but I am happy all the same, that and I am still a bit camera shy. I think I will be for a while still. But none the less I am nearing the 70's at breakneck speed, I can hardly wait. I feel like I am catching up to where I wanted to be at my 1yr mark. I'm not gonna hit my original goal of 100lbs in year 1 but I am gonna be fairly close and considering how my year has gone that makes me pretty excited.

    Road to "TWOterville"

I had to share this. Yesterday at my son's dr. visit he weighed in at 76lbs and I have lost 71 I have basically lost a 10yr old child! Wow that was major visual. Then today As I got in the car I realised that at the rate I am going I will be in the 70's very soon! The thought of being in the 270's again has me thrilled. Also I have a brand new spring jacket that my DH bought for me 3yrs ago but I couldn't wear it he didn't know, bless his heart, but I can sure wear it now

Ahh the weekend, when everyone is out having fun and not posting, except me hehe, jk :tea: OK so I seem to be losing steady which is awesome, I am breezing through the 80's yay :clap2: Everything has been great and then last night happened. Dud duh duh, can you here the music? Ok I know I'm corny. Well basically I took my meds before bed as always went to lay donw like 10 minutes later thinking it was all good. Instant stuck feeling and nausea, sat up told my DH I'd be to bed as soon as it went through. 2hrs later and a cup of hot cocoa I was finally relieved and it was through the stoma. By then I was falling asleep in my chair I was so tired. There was no way I was gonna puke up expensinve Rx's, so I sat there and suffered. I already know which pill got stuck, the bigger one, all my others are tiny pills so no worries with them. But it seems this one is time release so I can't cut it up and it doesn't come in a smaller pill or a liquid. What are these pharmaceutical companies thinking anyway? SO I guess I am adding sf hot cocoa to my nightly regime so they will be sure to gow down easily every time, also taking them earlier in the evening

    so bummed out!

If I were you I would talk to my doctor. Take into him a log of what you are eating, being brutally honest and comprehensive, and remember to include your water intake. Then see what he says about why you are not losing. I have some pretty serious insulin issues as well and am eating 800-1200 calories per day and am losing just fine. Good luck to you in finding the answers

    My First 'stuck' episode...now what?

I would say that how "dainty" it is depends on how blocked the stoma is. Just a little equals dainty, downright stuck equals evil wretching and for me 2 days of liquids, don't ever wanna go there again.
  15. Welcome I'm glad you found us! This site is a wealth of knowledge, support and at time tough love. While you wiat for your doctors visit, take the time to write out your concerns for him so that you are sure not to forget a detail that might be very important! Once you have done that, just relax because there is nothing more you can do till you see him and have any tests that he orders. Remember this, the odds are in your favor that there is nothing too seriously wrong. This site can often have inflated numbers of difficulties to report as so many that don't have problems never seek out a forum like this. So don't panic.

    Does Anybody Lose Serious Weight?

I would say that 70lbs in 11months is pretty good, and I know people on this site that have lost well over 100 in their first year. How much you lose depends greatly on how well you use your tool. It isn't a miracle worker, it doesn't make you lose weight, it helps you to control your hunger and your portions to help you lose.

Oh I'm sorry the snow messed up your race, but it is definitely better to not run on ice and i don't know break a hip. With my level of clutzyness I'd fall and get a concussion somehow for sure, lol.

    Foaming at the mouth-- literally

well hormones are stored in fat and when you burn the fat the hormones are released which means for many women they start menstruating heavy or more often or finally after a long time of not. I would guess most of the pre menopausal women on this site experienced some changes to their periods in the first month or so after surgery, I know I had my first one in over a year.

    I'm home

Yay, I am so glad everything went well with the new surgery technique, I have been wondering. Congrats on entering bandland

I think My Surgeon Just Fired Me...

Him trying to get you to sign a waiver to release records is illegal! Those records belong to the patient in every state in the US as far as I know. They sure do in Washington. I'd call him on it.

    April 2006 Bandits' March Challenge

I keep saying everyday that I am not gonna get on the scale I am gonna wait till tuesday(my official weigh in day) to weigh, but alas I too am scale obsessed I can't not get on it! Holy cow I went from overeating to overweighing, lol. As for the excersise, I need to get to the high school track in the mornings and walk it, when I reach the point cardio wise that it feels easier to run then I will know that I am ready to do the walk run walk run routine, lol, It has been 12yrs since I last ran, and I don't mean after my kids, lol, I am still capable of a sprint but my body complains. I figure when I hit 250 my body can start to handle it. But today I am being very bad and having a peanut buster parfait for lunch, I might actually exceed 1000 calories today, lol

    April 2006 Bandits' March Challenge

Well I seem to be on a gentle breeze through the 80's which is fine by me. I am glad everyone seems to be getting better, I hope all the surgeries and things coming up for everyone go really well I keep reading about you guys running and am so jealous, I miss running so much! I haven't been able to run since college. I remember we used to do midnight runs through seattle from queen anne to gasworks and back, those were the best! I know that once I start walking I will be so tempted but I also know my knee can't handle the impact from running yet, it is getting better as I lose more weight I am still 30lbs away from being able to do anything but walk
  25. waterlily1072

    Foaming at the mouth-- literally

Wow, I have never heard of that happening. The foaming may be from a combination of mucous(nasal) slim and water and meds. I really suggest you switch to liquid meds or tiny pills especially right now when you are probably really swollen. Remember to always sip your water, later on you may or may not be able to gulp but I sure don't recommend gulping now. As for the blood in the urine, I am not sure what that might be maybe your body getting rid of some internal bleeding from surgery? No clue, just a wild guess. I would say call your surgeons office asap and ask what to do.
