Happy bandiversary Boo I don't remember what I ate last year for Easter :cry but a few days later was my wedding anniversary and with my surgeons permission I went out to eat and had real food! It was my official last supper, I ate till I was stuffed, lol and regretted it later as I sat up half the night miserable. A few short days later was my surgery! Boo, AF is my period, short for Aunt Flo, and she is mean! Fortunately I do not easily get anemic. My doc has me on Vitamins with Iron in them just to help in these situations, this is nothing new, my period has been erratic from the very beginning thanks to PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) I go forever without one then whammo she lays me out flat for a little bit.

I have days where I just eat empty calories for no apparent reason than they just sound good. The ice cream the cookies the chips. I think all of us have been to that place at least once if not several times. I think mentally sometimes we are losing too fast for our minds to know who we are and what to do now. The important thing is whether it was one meal or one year the band is still there waiting for you to be motivated again. I love that I can take time off from losing and just relax if I need to. I don't gain during those periods I just maintain, then when I am ready I get busy and follow the plan and start losing again, I just pick up right where I left off. It's ok that we do this, we are human, sometimes the craving for reeses is just too strong for anyone to resist! But it seems you are ready to get back on track so forgive yourself for the junk food eaten and make healthy choices.

Banded 4/3 and going out for SIL's BD
waterlily1072 replied to singandsew's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The french onion soup minus the bread and cheese on top is a good option just be careful with bits of onion. Other than that you can order a non carbonated beverage, they won't allow you to drink something that you brought in with you so the water bottle idea won't work. If your surgeon said full liquids is ok you can even order a small milkshake if you don't mind the calories. Other than that you are pretty much looking at beverage city. One of my favorite things to do if I need to be on liquids for some reason and we are going out for a meal, I order a hot chocolate and that always makes me feel satisfied and pampered. -
I thought AF was gone then last night in the middle of the night wham, major bleeding again! I am retaining so much water my wedding ring is actually a little snug and usually it is practially falling off! Oh well this too will pass. Good news is my ankle is feeling much better But today was so busy, I did my church ladies visiting today and grocery shopping and bank and birthday present shopping with the kids for DH he will be 40 tomorrow! It has been a full and busy day, I am so glad DH doesn't want me to fix dinner anytime soon, lol.

I am quickly approaching 1 yr with my band and have lost 79lbs! I have PCOS and my surgeon said that I may lose a little slower than some because of it but that I would still lose. My PCOS is bad enough that I have major insulin issues and was borderline diabetic. Just stay away from simple carbs and excersize and you will do great!

Good job Terri and Shiela You are both doing great! Congrats on entering bandland Terri it is truly an exciting ride

I hate when I fix my little tiny plate of food and it's something that I slaved over cooking and it's super delicious and for whatever reason I get too full too quick and can only eat a few bites of it :angry I hate when that happens! It is a sad day when I can't eat a saucer of food! Yay for yummy protien shakes, but it still isn't the same

I took an idea that I saw here in this forum and made it. It was so good I have to post this One 6" flour tortilla (crust) 2tbls spaghetti sauce 2-3oz of low fat mozzarella Other toppings (I did pepperoni and olives) I just broiled the tortilla till it was firm and slightly crisp pulled it from the oven and put my toppings on, then broiled it again till all the cheese was melted. It was so good I could believe it! So if any of you want pizza and can't handle even the crip crust try this! Mine was approximately 500 cal (the cheese) so a little high, but on a day with a light lunch it's perfect

Yup got lots of extra water today

lunchables has processed cheese and meat that is loaded with sugar and chemicals. It is super high in sodium and because the meat is so highly processed it doesn't yield that great a protien amount either. To me stuff like that is serious junk food right up their with fast food. Now I do have things like that on occasion but not very often, certainly not as often as I crave pizza

Calorie Requirements for Each Stage?
waterlily1072 replied to purplemonkey's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That is my surgeons feelings as well. If we have fat stored on our bodies we don't need calories for energy we need protien and nourishment. I honestly don't believe the starvation mode affects people who are overweight unless their are other issues involved. Everyone needs to find what they can live with though. If you lose on 1500cal a day and are happy with your loss and how you feel then great! We all need to find that place where we can live at forever or we will gain back the weight. If you can live on 800cal a day and not feel deprived then go for it. You will need to up your calories once you reach goal but until then you are fine. The key is to eat your protien so your body doesn't metabolize your muscle. The RNY crowd have malabsorption, they get very few calories that actually absorb into their system, their survival is based on protien for at least the first year till their body figures out how to absorb nutrients and calories from food again. If we could live on vitamins and our protien shakes and not go buggy we could lose that fast too, but it isn't as healthy to lose that fast and it isn't possible to live without food forever, so I just keep focusing on my protien and let the calories fall where they do, some days it's 1200 and others it's 600 and once in a blue moon it's 1600 (If I eat a lot of junk that day) -
Well mine was up 3lbs today! I have been staying withing my calories but last night for dinner I had a mashed potato bowl from KFC It took me two hours to eat it but it was worth it. It only has 720cal which put me at 1,100 for the day (I don't remember the littel numbers off the top of my head) but it had an astronomical sodium content. I knew ahead of time that I was gonna reatin water. Let's put it this way, I have needed the bathroom yet today :omg: and yes I'm drinking down as much water as possible, lol, so it will leave me. And there is no way I'm updating anything! cause I know it's not for real. High sodium + AF = major water retention!!!

I think we should start on Tuesday the 17th since that is the actual day taxes are due this year and a few people may want the extra 2 days to reach their goal

hmm laundry....:guess Well I wasn't feeling very well today and my ankle got a little twisted with the long jump yesterday so today instead of the track I went out and did some deck gardening. Arranging my pots and plant stands a little weeding. And of course the biggie I took down all the christmas decorations. The inside was christmas free last month but the outside was as yet untouched. I just didn't have the heart to take them down, they were a cheery site for me to focus on after my mom passed. Spent a good 35+ minutes working hard out there And now I have scratches on my hands and dirt under my freshly manicured fingernails, lol.

For me the adrenaline rush getting the surgery was enough to carry me for 4 months! In the first 4mo I had no restriction but I had dedication and the results I was seeing fed that drive to eat right and lose. Then I had a few tough months where I was out of control on my choices, I was worn out from "dieting" at 10mo I finally got the fill that was the answer to my prayers, I have the VG band so it can take a lot longer to get good restriction. In the last 7weeks I have lost an additional 30lbs! Is it easy to stay on track? most days yes, because I have the restriction and because I see the results. I know that the weight is coming off and will continue to do so. I don't think I'm going to the track today, AF has me worn out and is so intrusive this visit I don't want to get stuck somewhere without a restroom!

Finally Filled But Still Struggling
waterlily1072 replied to Gummiebear's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgeons rule is whatever you can tolerate after a fill. I start with liquid at one meal if that goes down then I try mushies at the net one and so on, if I PB then I go back to liquids and stay there at least a day and then start the trek to solids all over. Mushies will always leave you hungry after only a short time, solids are what keep us full for a longer time. Don't evaluate if you need a fill until you are on solids. -
EASTER DINNER--what's your plan?
waterlily1072 replied to derbygirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sounds like a fun easter dinner Dinner is at my house and this year will just be me and my DH. I am doing the cooking and I am making a small ham, mashed potatoes, green Beans, sf Jello salad with fruit cocktail and cool whip lite in it and rolls (for my DH). I do not anticipate any food issues, there won't be any fattening desert to avoid or anything like that, just a simple but nice dinner. -
Grats Julie :clap2: You are doing great! 50lbs was my first big landmark too. Don't you just feel great?

Twoterville is the land of the 200's so 200-299, the 300's are tri-cities, and the 100's are onderland

Welcome Laura Well now I know why my muscles ache. AF is here with a vengence, she breezed into town during the night. This is not gonna be a fun visit I can already tell. The only time she visits is when I lose a good chunk of weight quickly. Such a price to pay

I love excersize!!! I totally was bad with calories yesterday, we were out an about most of the afternoon and I grazed all day, something I normally don't do. I came in at approx. 1700cal I got on the scale this morning and was down a pound!!! Not updating the chart yet though I will wait for a few days at least to do that, hehe.

The good news about your insurance is that you've already had your surgery Now if it had changed prior to surgery that would have sucked

I was at the local hs track today with my DH and two of our kids walking my laps and when I was all done walking (everyone else petered out early, hehe) I decided to join them at the long jump site where my kids had been competing to see who could jump the farthest. Well let's just say none of us are going to the olympics based on todays performances, lol. I decided to give it a go, it has been almost 20 years since I have run track and done the long jump but I figured what the heck. So I ran, yes ran! and I jumped albeit not far but I jumped and landed in the sand all of me after my feet hit I slid and ended up full on covered in sand, lol. It was so much fun!!! A year ago I could not walk for 5 minutes without terrible pain in my lower back, now I walk 2 miles a day and have no pain! I would have never dreamed of running before but today I ran full on, not jogged but ran full out! Once I hit my century mark, 22lbs to go, I am going to add jogging to my walking! I knew that weight loss would relieve me of much of my pain, but I never imagined how much! This surgery has given me my life back! This year I will be going to the zoo with my kids and not have to sit on a bench the whole time! We are going to have such fun this summer

Just remember LapBandit if you are sticking to plan and counting your calorie intake you know you didn't really gain anything except fluids I do agree it is discouraging all the same though. Well I bought my bandiversary present a little early, I picked up a cute dressy/casual jacket from target today. It is tailored and pink linen and super fun I'm gonna wear it Easter Sunday with a black skirt and white blouse. I double scored cause it was on clearance!!! For the record it is a size 26! And we all know how target and walmart clothes run

I didnt' deal with an insurance company but isn't it standard to deny the first application. I think many of them require an appeal or two to actually approve the procedure. Either way, just keep trying to jump through their hoops it will happen eventually
