Well we were out running errands most of the day so we stopped at Taco Bell for lunch and I tried my best to suck out the chili of a chili cheese burrito but I didn't get very far so I just handed it over to DH, I am still too swollen to eat very much, fortunately I am getting over my head hunger thank goodness, but still sometimes I hate being so swollen after a fill. By next Tuesday my restriction level should be perfect, until then I am dropping weight like crazy!

Sadly I am a moderator on a website that does have an e-mail verification step in the create an account procedure and we too lately have been inundated with spam and it's getting really old. We have started banning certain IP's, not sure if it will help yet. I think the big spammers are on a campaign or something.

Sheila, take a deep breath.... ok you are healing right now, don't worry about head hunger or calories right now. Concentrate on eating only mushies and getting enough protien and water, that is all that matters right now! The head hunger will lesson tremendously with good restriction until then just focus on what you can control, mushies only and enough protien and water. If you want the pudding have it! Anything is better than eating solids too soon. If necessary resort to ice cream, I know it sounds bad but the most important thing is to heal properly, weight loss will come later. Don't beat yourself up over what you have already eaten just get back onto mushies and everything will be fine. I think most of us fell off the post-op diet at least once and we survived and so will you. So take another deep breath and post here as much as you need to, we are all here for you.

Are VG bands really less likely to slip?
waterlily1072 replied to Alexandra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Meltini, the VG band is a larger band that holds 10cc's of saline. It generally takes much longer to acheive restriction but seems to be preferred by many surgeons for larger patients. It closes to the same diameter as the smaller bands when full but takes longer to get there. Your doctor will likely choose which band fits your stomach the best. -

I am so glad you are feeling better! Welcome back -
I'm in on the food challenge. I avoided the grocery store today because I was craving doritos so badly (I will have to go tomorrow). Lucky for me I just had a fill so despite my head hunger I can't eat yet, still very swollen, applesauce is almost too much! In a few more days though it will be perfect and hopefully my head hunger will be gone. It's like this evil monster I can't get out of my head right now! I started logging my food several days ago again and yesterday and today I'm well below 1000, heck I'm well below 800 thanks to only having protien shakes before the fill I was up to 1800:omg: but the extra restriction from swelling won't last more than another day or two, so a challenge it is to stay below 1000 calories everyday this week. I got no excersise in today thanks to a sick child at home. I didn't want to leave him home alone. So tomorrow I've got to get moving again.

Yay Libra grats on 90lbs gone forever! This new fill seems to be exactly where I was after my last fill which was perfect restrictin so I am very excited. I am experiencing head hunger all over again though but it will pass in another day or so

I was pleasantly surprised to see that they now offer a bariatric friendly meal! It was a grilled salmon fillet that was absolutely yummy with steamed veggies for the side dish. It was about half the size of their normal salmon fillet I'd guess about 8oz which is still a little too big a serving for us but hey they are making progress!

I agree a calorie range can be helpful, I do 800-1200 and that seems to help a lot. It averages to about 1000 a day. Keep in mind that on 800cal per day there is no way you can gain fat! Your weight will fluctuate with fluid retention changes. Don't get frustrated, to gain a pound you need to eat approximately 3500 extra calories! If weighing makes you frustrated at times try weighing in less often. You don't have to worry about the weight creeping up on you as long as you keep track of what you are eating everything will be fine.

OT- Forum layout change=forum doesnt work as well
waterlily1072 replied to joe7777's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mine is still broken too. When I post it gives me the can't find page error, the same error when I try to open a thread in anyway other than directly clicking on the thread. All the skips to places, like view first unread or clicking to view a response to a thread, give me the error. -

I agree, it is not working well. Hopefully they can work out the kinks. I am not able to use the view first unread function at all, it puts me to an error page. I hope it gets fixed soon! -
Does it come with the feeling that you need to burp? Weird question I know but when I get a fill and I get swollen from it I experience the burping thing along with a slightly weird taste for the first couple of days while the swelling goes down.
-
Kat I hate when kids do things like that and get away with it :angry That is why I am so strict about safety and respecting other when it comes to my kids. If one of them did that they would be so busted! Grrr. I'm glad nthing bad happened but I would press charges just to teach those kids a lesson! Betty, I am sorry to hear of the set back in Alan's recovery, I will be hoping and praying that the new meds work and that he will be feeling great soon! I am on liquids today and probably tomorrow too, we'll see how the swelling goes, had a fill this morning and son't want to push it. Last time I rushed into mushies too soon and had a horrible PB so don't want a repeat of that! Due to the long drive it pretty much ate up my whole day so today is lost for the gym but tomorrow morning is calling me

current & former super size bandsters - exercise
waterlily1072 replied to losingjusme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When I started out I was told not to excersise till I had lost a significant amount due to my bad back and knee. Now here I am a year later and almost no back pain ever and no knee pain either! I used to be able to walk maybe 5 minutes before the pain stopped me now I can go all day on my feet and not have to stop for anything except eventually being tired. We all start somewhere and if 10minutes is where you are starting then that's ok, when you get comfortable there add some time to that, eventually it will get easier and for many people it actually starts to get fun! -
What do you want to know about it?
-
Effica, I hear ya. I was feeling that way too so I went and got a fill today, I am hoping this fill does the trick to get me back in the good habits I have created this last year and away from the old bad habits of days long past that made me fat in the first place. I am one of those that likes to be on the tighter end of the good restriction zone. It helps me stay in line and make the good choices.

I just had a fill, am I too full
waterlily1072 replied to vintagehound's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I swell for a good week after a fill, so I never even question whether I'm too tight till a week has gone by. As long as you can swallow water and your own spit wait for a week before deciding if you're too tight. -
Yay I had to share this cause I am so excited! The last few months the waitlist at my clinic for a fill has been 2 weeks! I just called this morning to make an appointment and I go in tomorrow morning!!! Yay, tomorrow I will have good restriction again
-
I wish I had something for you but I don't. I do know that you will not set off any metal detectors. Do take your card with you so you can get kids menu items. As for the rides I think you should be just fine unless you throw up easily then skip any that might make you do that and just relax and have fun
-
Well I didn't want to do this but I need to post my backslide as it won't be 100% gone by tomorrow without a miracle. I have discovered that I definitely need a fill and getting back on the wagon has been difficult without perfect restriction. I think a part of me has enjoyed really eating those forbidden foods again. Are VG bands really less likely to slip?
waterlily1072 replied to Alexandra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Been banded for a year and no complications at all so far, knock on wood. I am up to 9.5cc's and it's time for another fill. I have had 2pb's total and slimed maybe 5 times over the last year. It took me a long time to get good restriction though which was frustrating. -
I can eat brown rice just fine in small amounts but not white rice. I have the whole family switch over.
-
I am afraid I have had to just wing it. I have found it very difficult to find recipes that are both low in carbs and fat as well. It seems the whole world is eother one or the other, no wonder there is such an obesity problem! I just cook simple meals these days, If I use any fat in cooking it's olive oil, I use brown rice for the rest of the family and chicken or fishand veggies. I use fat free salad dressing, you can make your own even with a little vinegar and olive oil. I tend to use a lot of herbs and seasonings to give flavor to my cooking rather than frying it or sauteeing it. If you are not good with throwing different seasonings together you can get the packets in the grocery store and they are great to add to any meat or veggies and add great flavor. Hope this helps
