If he hasnt seen u before, we will just take out all the Fluid into a syringe, tell him what band u had say 7cl and he will work out exactly what is inside your band and give you advice on whether you need a few cl more etc. You can even wait at the UK appointments and drink fluids and see if it goes down ok. They give u emergency overfill cards so if u feel ill a 2 days later or so when u start to eat, you can go get some out. Xrays are adviced after a year but he will say that.

I have told everyone about my band, there is no embaressment in taking control of your life and you should be commended for it :smile2: I would rather people thought of me as someone who took action to change his life than someone who ate himelf to an early grave. heheheh Your real friends wont question your judgement or think worse of you. They will be supportive and wont ask awkward questions when you only eat small amounts. Lieing to people in my opinion just brings an extra dimension you can do without.

Hi, i went to belgium and had the whole thing done including flights for under £4k. I have not heard of the clinic you mentioned but some one may have. I wish you luck if you go ahead and one of us here will have been through the feelings you get post op. Just postif you need any info or advice :smile2:

I got my first fill today!
alfie858 replied to twiggysmiff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi i was lucky too i had restriction for up to 2 weeks after every fill. I personally must be near my sweet spot now, i think the next fill will be the one. I feel full longer than i have done for years but just treat each one as a stepping stone to a new life. I stopped losing for 4 weeks and was getting disheartened but im back on track to a kilo (2.2lbs)a week and feeling great. Just never lose hope even if you can eat and keep remembering why you had the band in the first place. I wish you good luck :smile2: Alfie -

alfie858 replied to AngelWithHorns's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im struggling aswell at the moment, i do have restriction cause if i dont chew it gets stuck. I do get hungry though and eat. I never lost any weight for 4 weeks and was gutted. I am now back on the straight and narrow and when i can afford it i will get another fill. im so close to the sweet spot as i have had 11.5 and the band holds 14. I am going to try hard now, so you must too :mad2: -
Do you *REALLY* want to know what the band is like????

Is anyone else having or had trouble the first week with protien?
alfie858 replied to Minnah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the very same issue and it is gas and all i can say is one day it will have gone. Mine took 2 weeks, some people 5 days. My port area had pain some intense pain on occasions for up to 12 weeks after the OP and there was no problems with it. It was just me i kept clumsily turning over in bed causing it to pull on my sutures. -
Is anyone else having or had trouble the first week with protien?
alfie858 replied to Minnah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first 2 weeks or so, swelling in your esophagus causes its own restriction and daily it goes away. Some people take up to 4 weeks for it to feel normal. At that point you wont have any problem with eating anything but stick to the routine of small amounts. I personally had slimming shakes with added Protein powder once i could stomach them. I have had no problems at all with protien, i was blending things like prawns/crab with a small amount of low fat mayo and ketchup/tomatoe puree once i was on mushy foods stage. I also supplemented meals with the shakes with protien. I had root vegatable mash, stews and the like. My doctor checked my blood etc and all was fine. I have so far had no adverse effects to any food, but have not ate much bread att all. I tend to lean towards wraps or unlevend bread if there is no alternative on a menu when im out. I did try toast which was fine, but have not really had any since. -

Pain Around Port Area? Surgery +7weeks
alfie858 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on the 14th Nov this year, it all went well and had no probs. I had a fill 12th December same again no probs. I was out on Saturday and i noticed like a pulling/biting/nipping pain when i raised my arms above my head or reached far for something. I ignored it as it was very little pain. On Sunday and right through to today it has been very painfull. It actaully brings me to my knees if i touch a certain area on my side. It does not hurt and i cannot find the painful area when layed down. So It feels muscular or like the port has moved position slightly. It hurts more when i walk and if say for example i pull up my tracksuit bottoms higher to give it more support so my gut does not move. It seems to be less painful. I am in no way worried about it yet as i have a consultation and fill date of 8th January and i can put up with it till then. I just would like to know if anyone else has had a similar problem that can share any solution. I have taken anti inflammatory and cocodmol today for the pain. -

Why is my hair falling out?
alfie858 replied to cakegal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to have a protein shake every day to stop this happening. I do however eat a lot of fish so maybe i get enough protein as it is  -
I found my pain was caused by gas, i didnt take anything for the pain but tried all sorts of gas remedys. Nothing worked until i layed flat on my stomach one day, even though it was painful it moved my gas or at least it felt like it did. I wouldnt advise it though it really hurt  All i can say is it goes after a few days for some and takes longer with others. Just bear it out when your tired you will sleep. It will all be worth it when the pounds start to go. I hope you manage to get painfree soon. Good luck and have a good chritstmas i hope its less painful.

Two fills and no restriction
alfie858 replied to queen_of_cashmere's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have had only one fill so far but lost 18 lbs or so in 4 weeks by eating what they told me to and measuring my food. You have to make some changes in your lifestyle for this to work. Pure restriction on food alone will not help if you are eating what you ate before. I have eaten no bread, no Pasta, no rice, no chocolate, no potatoe chips, no soft drinks, nothing fried and little alcohol. My waist has dropped 4 inches if that is not enough to keep me going then what is  The fills will help I am sure but you must restrict yourself to make this thing work. It's not nice to be hungry but it wont kill you.
