I'm curious, what profit did your company make last year?
-
I don't understand, without excuse for what?

Carrie, I'm sorry this is happening to you. You get your sense of balance in three ways. First is your inner ear, you know with the Fluid and the hairs. Sometimes you can get little hard bits in there (otoliths) and there are positional sequences you can use to move those around and essentially get them out of the way. I'm surprised that you were given meds before the exercises. Second there is your eye righting reflex which means that we take our bearings from the horizontal landmarks in our landscape and will do almost anything to keep our eyes horizontal. Then there are our mechanoreceptors. These are little nerve endings found all over the body but our neck is chock full of them. These give us our sense of proprioception which is our sense of where we are in space. If someone loses this sense for example, they cannot point to where their other arm is with their eyes closed. These three things are all connected reflexively. So the easiest, safest and most non invasive thing to do is to get your neck checked. Chiropractors treat and cure vertigo regularly. Good luck with it.

What if God is real but has nothing to do with the bible? The ancient Sumerian writings that have been translated are kind of like the fuller version of Genesis. In there the word used is Immortal which somehow has morphed into God= "deity". So what if the "gods" of the old testament were just guys? Would people still have the ability to believe in a Supreme Being if they somehow found out that the bible wasn't about it/him/her?

Good for you. Stay on here for support and information. I'll bet there's already an October 09 thread going. Let me know how it goes.

You know what? At some point some people choose to put the cigarette in their mouth. Some people choose to open the cap and drink. Some people choose to open the fridge and eat that whatever even though they're not hungry. So fine, ban tobacco. What do you get but a whole crime industry revolving around the acquisition and sale of it. What's next: banning alcohol, perhaps overeating?? All these things cause massive health issues. I'm concerned about the person who loses their health insurance when they lose their job, then can't get re-insured due to a pre-existing health condition. Plain wrong.

Sir, keep that date. I did the Cambridge diet in the '80's and lost a substantial amount of weight. But like 96% of obese people do after any major diet, I put it all back on again. The band provides the opportunity for a lifestyle change that is a variation of normal, going on a starvation diet consisting of shakes and bars doesn't. As I'm sure you have read, everyone's experiences with the band is different, but for the most part you will be able to eat normal food - just chewed REALLY well - and in much smaller quantities. Most people don't know I have a band. When I'm out for dinner I can put a normal small amount of food on my plate, talk lots, push the food around a lot and eat what I'm able to in such a was so as not to call attention to the fact that I'm only eating a tiny bit. The point of me saying this is not so you can keep your band secret but that it's a way more normal way of living than it is with a drink and bar diet. As far as going into ketosis is concerned, you can still do that on the band by just cutting way down on your carbohydrates. That certainly would speed up your weight loss. I would suggest you read several low carb diet books to see if it's a choice for you. Two other points about the Cambridge diet - I struggled with constipation while on it, and I think if you stayed on it till you reached your goal weight you'll have probably spent the equivalent of the price of the band. Go ahead with this. This is an adacious and courageous step and all the power to you.

I just read that a study by the National Academy of Sciences that 18,000 people die per year in the US due to lack of health insurance, the equivalent of one every half hour. This situation is just plain wrong.

Sense? We don't need no stinking sense. You cannot possibly be serious. Now Obama is responsible for outrageous settlements. I spend most of the time reading all this with my hand over my mouth in amazement. I swear these threads are the only thing that can render me speechless. Don't people realize that they're doing the PR work for the (for profit) insurance corporations......for free! That way the insurance companies can spend their money on behind the scenes lobbying.

Ok, in the big scheme of things this is just a bellyache issue rather than a true rant issue. However, it's driving me nuts. They're baaack............ We live near two major vineyards and wineries so my house gets invaded with them this time of year. I had blueberries and yogurt for Breakfast and they were swarming around my face trying to get at the blueberries. I keep all the produce tucked away as much as possible but they are still all over. They sit on the walls, the radio aerial, the cupboards the range hood.........everywhere. I keep the vacuum plugged in and several times a day I suck them all up. When my son was little this used to upset him.."Don't kill the fruit flies!!!" "No Honey, I'm just letting them outside..see? If I put the vacuum outside they can all fly out." Traps don't work, there are far too many of them. So I'm thinking about another 6 weeks or so of this. Yikes.

Can anyone tell me what exactly does Medicaid pay for and what the program controls?
-
3 weeks out and eating everything in site
Devana replied to hungrygirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I often muse about our food addictions. I think if my jaw was wired shut I'd still find a way. Hang in there, and I join everyone in suggesting you get help for the head hunger. All the best. -
Welcome and congratulations on your decision. I hope you get your date soon. A whole new life awaits you!
-
just starting my journey..very nervous!!
Devana replied to mishie09's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi mishie and welcome. Hang around and explore LBT. You'll be able to read others experiences and ask questions and get a good idea of the different things to expect. Good luck with it all! -
I wish I had the ability to correct other peoples spelling on here
Devana replied to Donnainva's topic in The Lounge
I know how to spell but I'm amazed at how many typos I can produce and not notice. My favourite buddy is the google toolbar with the spellcheck in it. Nothing goes out without checking. -
Woo hoo!!! Congratulations to you both. I hope you reach your respective goals before too long.
-
Hi Lisa. Congratulations on your banding!! I'll bet there's a July 09 thread going on already. You'll probably find people at the same stage there. Good luck with it!
-
Hi Betsy and welcome. Congratulations on your decision. And good luck with all your "hoop jumping"!!
-
Hi Pam. I'm near Duncan. I know lots of people who either have had surgery or are waiting for surgery with Dr Amson. I thought he only did bypass, though. Where are you going for your fills?
-
Wow, they really have you controlled. I'd be going nuts. It's always been easier for me to crash diet for awhile. The good thing is, at least you'll start getting into good band habits. I would suggest to chew like you have the band. That definitely slows eating!!

Almost there...any CT or August 2009 Bandsters?
Devana replied to Jendela's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Jen and welcome. Take a look around, if there isn't already an August thread going, you could start one. Also, take a look at the regional postings for your state, you'll probably find someone close to you. All the best with this exciting new chapter in your life!! -
Seminar JULY 7,2009 very anxious!!!!!!!!
Devana replied to anxious09's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi anxious. Welcome and congratulations on your decision to get banded. As far as the loose skin goes, I don't know, but I imagine it wouldn't be any different from bypass. Weight loss is weight loss. On the other hand, thing might be better with the band because I believe our nutritional status would be better since we have no malabsorption issues. All the best and keep posting! -
How did it go? I hope you're doing alright. Congratulations, by the way, a whole new journey now!
