Interesting article. I don't see why anyone would possibly mind you posting it on the other site, Donna. Pelo, I agree with you, Velvet sure does look like she's workin' it!
-
Hey Big Girl, glad you decided to post. I, too, lurked for a long time before joining. It seemed like the information had to percolate in my head for awhile before I even knew what to ask. So you're on the pre-band home stretch. Congratulations, and keep us posted.

Any new November bandsters? Mine is Nov. 7
Devana replied to AngelaT's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations on your banding date, Angela. I'm sure there will be more November bansters showing up in the next few days. You could start the new November thread. Good luck with it all and keep us posted. -
Catzintj, it worked! Many thanks.

Me too. The only way I can get on is to do a search then click on the Cached files.

I'm inspired to ask this after reading the "English teachers please help" thread in Rants & Raves. Has anyone ever misunderstood the lyrics to a song and was surprised to find out what they really were? When I was a teen there was a song where I thought the singer was saying "spread yourself" all through the chorus. It was MANY years later that I found out he was singing "express yourself". It gives it a whole different meaning.......

What are precious moments? A number of you collect them and I have no idea what they are.

Hey Yasmina, you found it! I don't believe any private insurance companies cover this in Canada. In BC our BC medical plan will cover more drastic bariatric surgery but not the band. Go figure.
-
Holy smokes, Canadian, I saw on the other thread that you've lost 110 lbs. Congratulations and well done! How much to your goal now? I'm from the west coast, got banded in Mexico about 3 months ago, lost 50 lbs total but nothing this week and still looking for my sweet spot. I guess I've lost enough that I have almost no restriction at the moment, so I'm back for a fill next week. And yes, I'm happy about the band.

Go back to the main page and scroll down to the Canada local lapband support forum.

Hi Yasmina, come and post in the Canada site. I wasn't banded in Toronto but several members have and I'm sure they can answer any of your questions. By the way, welcome and congratulations on your decision.

Poll - Are You Attracted To Overweight People?
Devana replied to KariK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My husband says that this is the sad truth, that in general men judge men by their companions. An unattractive man with a gorgeous woman must have something somewhere else going for him and an attractive man with a not so attractive woman is regarded with slight suspicion, that he must have something wrong somewhere, somehow. -
Andree, go back and check your other threads from when you asked this before. I think you may have already got the names and numbers of all the western doctors.

Hi...I am new...Dr. Rumbaut Nov. 7, 2006
Devana replied to AngelaT's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome, Angela. Glad you found us. -
Yes, Mary Sue, a Beautiful Krissy knob or the remote control thing that Kathy posted would be perfect! Well, the remote control is in the testing stages so maybe it won't be long before it's available.

Holy smokes, thanks everyone. This is all too funny. Jill your encounter with your mother sounds almost like "Who's on First"!

People not using language to even attempt to say what they mean drives me insane. For example, two other parents and I were sitting at the back of the school hall waiting for the first day of school assembly. Two teachers were up at the front getting the music ready and setting up the harp that one of them plays. The piano player came over to us and said "The assembly doesn't start for 10 minutes". I thought she was just giving information and I thanked her. She became really agitated and I eventually and asked her if she wanted us to leave. She said yes, the harpist wants the hall empty to tune her harp. I told her that if that's what she wanted she should have said so from the start. I don't understand "hints". It frustrates me to no end when people don't just come out and say it. And I especially hate it when our children's teachers do that.

OK, I want to clarify something here. I am not seriously thinking of doing my own fills. I just wanted to explore the possibility. For example, if my dr. does it without fluoro, which he does, and I'm adept with a syringe, which I am, what would be the difference between each of us doing it? The main thing that comes to my mind is liability. If he punctures the tubing I'm not responsible. However, with the actual logistics of it I don't really see what's so scary or dangerous about it. You're talking to a woman who monitored her own dilation during labour!

Good for you Regina, size 12 is amazing. Socialgal, I think people are just trying to be helpful when we vent about not losing rather than making assumptions and judging us. I get more of the "have you tried this?" feeling from what is said. Remember, if you're gonna vent this is the safe place to do it.

I love that Mark Twain quote that goes something like "When I was 14 I couldn't believe how stupid my father was. When I was 21 I was amazed at how much the old guy had learned in 7 years." That's an approximation, I hope I've done it justice. I have a 13, almost 14 year old. Enough said.

He actually didn't give me the needles to do unfills myself, he gave them to me to be used in the event of an emergency unfill. There's nobody in my town with any experience whatsoever with any kind of bariatric surgery, let alone the knowledge of what type of needle to use, so at least I can provide them. Come to think of it however, if an unfill was necessary, I would likely be the most experienced since I know exactly where my port is. I'd trust myself more than I would trust some of the clowns locally.

A big welcome, Miri. It looks like you're doing pretty well already. Check out the September thread as well.

Love that I found this site!

Wow Kelly, you've done amazingly well. You'll have to post some photos in the before and after section. Welcome and I'm glad you've found us. -
OK, this is the same as I'm posting on the June thread: 1200 cals, 64 oz water and at least 20 min exercise per day. And for this I hope to lose 8 lbs, not a measly 5 like I did in Sept. And I've started the month off with a bang. It's 6 pm and I've done NO exercise today. However, tomorrow is a brand new day.

Nice family pic, Cloe, even though it's the old you.
