Sounds good Carlene. I'll rent it. I love personal movie recommendations.

I'm an accordion nerd.

I had a bizarre accident with my poppy today. I ended up dragging the pin across the underside of my forearm, creating a half inch deep and five inch long wound. Hurts like hell. Maybe it's time to invent one that's not so lethal.

Thanks for the sympathy, guys. Nah, there's no way I'd go and spend a few hours in emergency. I just taped it up with butterfly bandages. An eraser is a great idea, Lila.

Hi Angie, welcome to LBT. I'm glad you found us. Maybe you could try the regional USA threads for someone in your area. Good luck with it all.

The final deciding factor for me was watching a documentary on television that featured three people who had been morbidly obese, lost weight and kept it off. The statistics for this are very low, something like only 4-5% of people maintain their weight loss. When I heard this I got the big cosmic whack on the head with the realization that I would never be in that small percentile. The interesting thing about these people is that their whole lives were totally focused on their bodies, whether it be the exercise or eating. They spent many hours a day in exercise and almost as many in meal planning and preparation. I have a busy and enriched life that includes some exercise and I'm definitely the main cook in our home, but I'm just not prepared to give up a huge chunk of my life's time to that intense focus on my body. The band has been a good option for me. I don't spend any more time on food prep than I did before and I can exercise in moderation and still lose weight. In other words it's not cramping my style.........unless you count the extra time chewing!

Hey Khilton, a big welcome to LBT. And congratulations on your weight loss, that's wonderful. There's lots to do here, support to get and to give, ranting and raving and everything in between.
-
Hi Shaonnatay and welcome. Your weight loss is slower than some, but it's still an impressive loss. Congratulations.
-
Hi Kari, I'm glad you found us. This certainly is a great place for support and information. You may want to see if there's a December bandsters thread started yet. Good luck and congratulations on your date!

Joy Joy, congratulations to you. You followed your dream!

A beautiful handmade baby book with blank pages of exquisite handmade paper, some photo corners and a black ink pen.

Hi, Boo. There's a similar thread in the support forum, "Thanksgiving". I've posted there already.

Some more........ I'm thankful for the rain. I feel fortunate to live in an area where Water is plentiful. It's pouring at the moment which is nice after an exceptionally dry summer. I'm thankful for my wonderful working situation. There are 5 of us and we all adore each other. I'm thankful for all the pets I've had over the years. They are a vehicle for the expression of love.

So much................... I'm thankful for the salty air I can breathe off my porch every morning. I'm thankful that our son can walk without cane or crutch, albeit with a severe limp, for the first time in four years. I'm thankful for my hands. I use them to earn my living, help people, play music, communicate on LBT! I'm thankful for being a wild and crazy kid in the 60's and 70's. I had lots of adventures and got into all sorts of trouble that I wouldn't have the guts to do now. I'm thankful to my sweetheart who, after all these years, still makes me weak in the knees and who has always treated me like a goddess regardless of my size. I'm thankful that both my grandmothers lived to almost 100 yrs. They were each from different countries, both so different, and I appreciated them more and more as I grew older. I'm thankful I've managed to dodge most of the co-morbidity bullets that are associated with morbid obesity. (It must be those good genes from my grandmothers). I'm thankful for my band, my tool. I have a chance to have a different life. I'm thankful for LBT, the newer members as well as the original members that I feel like I got to know while I was lurking so long. Although it's sometimes difficult for us as parents and for his teachers, I'm thankful our son constantly questions authority. He is indeed developing into a free and questioning thinker. I'm thankful that I live in swimming hole heaven. We have so many really good swimming spots, river, lake and salt chuck. I'm thankful that our son has turned his grief over his lost physical abilities into a passion for music and is becoming a fine musician. I'm thankful that my sweetheart and I both have sagittarius rising, which has meant years of adventure and interesting experiences. We would be a lot better off financially if we had stayed put and not started over so many times in so many places, but we certainly would not have had such an enriched life. I'm sure I'll think of more. Good thread Jenna.

I am a subscriber to mexicanbandsters and though I'm not an active member and never post, I get all the posts in my email. There was an interesting one the other day from Inamed saying that forum will now be moderated and any post with complaints about a doctor or facility must be sent to them for verification at the same time it's sent to the forum. They will then, after investigation, let the forum know if it can be posted. I thought this was interesting, to say the least.

Jenna, she's beautiful. She has that "smart" look to her, too.

Congratulations, you're on your way! Keep us posted on your surgery date.

Garbanzos, especially in hummus.

Welcome Kathleen, glad you found us.
-
Leila, good to hear from you. I think we all must have been wondering. Be sure to give yourself lots of convalescence time. I think our society really undervalues that. I'm glad all went well. Lots of healing energy your way.

To some people, fat is fat. It's almost like you have to get to "portly" from "fat" before people will notice. My band buddy Jane has lost a little less than me but because she began with a much lower BMI she looks now totally transformed. Everyone has noticed her, only a few have noticed my loss. Nobody knows about us being banded, so they're not expecting changes in us.
-
You all continue to inspire me. Congratulations on your decision to be banded and your work with it to accomplish so much!

Have you seen those two Australian fellows that do the "Penis Puppetry"?
-
Congratulations, Alexandra, that's great! You know what? I'm going to delete mine just as an act of positive affirmation. Here I go.......
