Lovely, Carlene. You're wearing clothes this time!

Hello, and welcome! I, too, was banded with a friend. Jane and I went down to Mexico and got banded the same day. As much as LBT is great support, it's been good to have a friend to go through this with. You might want to check out the December bandsters thread. And......STAY......AWAY......FROM......THE.......DOG. Poor fellow.

Hello, Manzanyta, and welcome. I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. Did you lose much weight despite this? You might want to post on the "problems" threads and see if anyone has ideas or input.

Holy smokes, Panda, things are really falling into place for you and the rest of your family. Congratulations, this sounds like a wonderful new start for you. Glad you started posting, by the way!

Stop having so many damn kids; population control, anyone?

Yeah, sexier. -
Cool Yvonne. It can almost be sung to "Heartbreak Hotel".

I just read on the Mexican bandsters site that Dr. Sanchez of Monterrey was murdered. Has anyone else heard anything about this?
-
That is so cool. I often ask elderly people what they think about all the changes they've seen. The social, economic and technical changes are enormous, but how it has affected the people living through it, I extremely interesting.

Yes, and if I had stopped to think about it I would have figured it out and said nothing. However, I was sputtering after I read it and raced over here to reply only to find nothing. It's best left and forgotten.

Hi NewStart, I think I was about 3 weeks in before I began to feel hungry at all. It didn't last long for me, I kept to the small amounts, and I guess I adapted. Good luck, hang in there until your fill.

There is a missing post here that showed up in my email. I hope it's been deleted.

Has anyone heard from T.O.M?? It seems like a long while since he's been here. Just wondering if he's alright.
-
You certainly can, and a big welcome to you. It looks like you're doing very well, too. Congratulations!

Wow, Carlene, looking (and sounding) good!!!!

Welcome Z, I'm glad you found us. You may want to peruse the Doctors and Hospitals threads to get some of the information you need. Good luck with it all.

Hi Dee and welcome. I'm glad you're posting. I was banded the same day and I, too, am at a standstill. However, I'll be getting a fill in a few days which I hope will remedy the situation. Come and join us in the June bandsters thread.

Alex, yes it's better. Thanks!!!

I'm OK with either 5 or 10, however the "latest posts" column sticks way out to the right on my computer. I actually have to move the screen to see the latest postings. I don't know if it's just my computer or how it's actually set up. If it's not mine, I wouldn't mind seeing the "latest posts" moved to the left since that's what I use the most up there. The most "top posters" doesn't change much over time. Saying this, I want to make clear that I'm not complaining. I'm very grateful to you, Alex, for this site and as well to all the moderators. I'm so very happy to have found you all.

Wow, some great book ideas. I'm inspired to check out some Heinlein. I read Stranger in a Strange Land in the '60's when it was de rigeur for any self respecting hippy. I'd love to read some of his other stuff. I recently read All the Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy, and loved it. Also Once Upon a Distant War by William Prochnau. It's about the early Vietnam war correspondents. A very good read. Until very recently, we would read aloud in our son's room at bedtime. He's just turned 14 and suddenly sees it as being treated like a baby, whereas we saw it as a mutually enjoyable family activity. I understand. However, I'm in a bit of mourning about this. He still wants us in there to talk, he loves that cozy family togetherness feeling. What I may do is try and make it an earlier evening activity, not in the bedroom, so he doesn't feel like Mom is reading to him. One cool thing that's resulted from him being read aloud to for years is that he himself is very good at reading aloud. He has the pacing and inflection one normally wouldn't find in a kid. He's usually the one to do any reading aloud or narration for school events. What we've really enjoyed as a family the last few years are books by Ken Oppel. He's written the Sunwing Saga which is a trilogy about bats. My husband and I enjoyed it as much as our son did. And we liked even better Airborne and it's sequel Skybreaker. They're kind of a fantasy, set in a Victorian era where all the worlds shipping happens with airships. Very exciting. I'm really fond of Ian Rankin's works, especially his Rebus novels. I love that grubby underside of Edinburgh stuff. I don't get nearly the time I want to for pleasure reading. I always look forward to Christmas, I always get at least one really good read.

Fun. I know the rules, too. Zombies.

Yvonne, congratulations on your banding, and you too, Loriha. Yvonne, are you on one month of liquids or three? Yikes, that does seem like a long time. In any event, hang in there, you'll be rewarded with a good loss.

You guys are all so inspiring. It makes me sorry I haven't visited our Junebie site more often. I do tend to wallow in my own stuff too much. I, too am looking for that sweet spot. I've had two fills, and I can still certainly eat too much and chew less than I should be and get away with it. Getting a fill is a little difficult. I had to wait 6 weeks for an appointment this time, which was last Thursday, however, we had a rare and unusual snow storm that made getting there almost impossible. I had to go to the mainland for it and even the ferry I should of been on was shut down for wind. The good thing is, they told me to just come over next Thurs. and they'll try and fit me in when I get there. Not another 6 week wait. I have been very discouraged because after my initial loss, I've been at somewhat of a standstill for a long time. If I'm able to eat more, I do. I feel like I need some drastic torturous behaviour modification to stop. Hook me up to electrodes or something. What's keeping me from total despair, however is that I'm still getting small nsv's like fitting into something I haven't worn for a long time, or my favourite, the steering wheel no longer rubbing on my belly. Thank you all for being here, you're great.

I met a woman today who told me she got banded 16 years ago. She has a non adjustable band, no port or anything. She lost 130 pounds and kept it off until a few years ago when she had a bad car accident and badly damaged both knees. She's currently recovering from her second knee replacement. She's heavy but not morbidly obese. She attributes her weight gain to lack of exercise due to her knees and her love of chocolate. She still pb's when she's not careful.

Devana replied to RoadDancer's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello RoadDancer and welcome. I'm glad you found us. I'm from BC and chose to have my surgery in Mexico. You might want to look at some of the local Washington and Idaho threads for someone relatively close to you.
