I was told it was tylenol, however when I had the pain she said it was probably aspirin (Whoops) Whoops?? I do know that aspirin is on the not allowed list and I would never take it anyway and have only taken tylenol once before (with my C-section). What I'm wondering is, will this one time cause serious problems, do you think?

Barbara, the point and click filling would definitely be bad for me. I know myself well enough that if I can get away with it, I will. I would be finding all sorts of good reasons for deflating. Yikes. A fill for me takes up most of a whole day. I have to travel to the mainland, so I plan it well. The fill doctor gave me a handful of huber needles and a couple of syringes. He said it was a good idea to have the needles on hand in case of emergency when there aren't a lot of people knowledgeable about bands around. He also suggested I could do my own unfill in the event of an emergency. I thought that was quite cool.

Hi desertdreamers and welcome! I'm glad you found us. This is a great place for support and information. There's also a November bandster thread you might want to check out to meet people at the same stage. Good luck and keep posting. -

hump is ready for lap band surgery
Devana replied to humponelove's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi there Hump, welcome to LBT. I'm glad you found us. -
When I married in 1972 I kept my original name, however, nobody respected that. I would sign contracts (for utilities etc.) in my own name and everything would come back in my husbands name. It was a small town, what can I say. I finally gave up and took his name, mainly because it really wasn't that important to me. I know of a couple of interesting situations. One woman I know wanted to change her name. She was estranged from her family and had a disastrous 9 week marriage and didn't want to keep either name. So she had a naming party. Each invitation had spots for 5 name choices. At midnight, we all read out our name suggestions and the reasons for our choices. Some of them were hilarious. This was in the UK in 1985 and anyone who was there at the time will remember that "The Eastenders" had recently made it's debut as well as the Australian soap "Neighbours". There were lots of choices from those shows. Some people chose mythical names. It was fun. She then went into the bedroom with her sweetheart and emerged an hour later with her chosen name which she uses to this day. She chose a french name which sounds good even when anglicised. A few years later a young couple I know chose not to give their newborn son either of their surnames for various reasons so they gave him a last name that was made up of both their middle names. Interesting.

What's the worst thing someone said to you?
Devana replied to annieM's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was standing in the paper isle of the grocery store in the small town we were living in at the time. I had just worked out what was the most economical toilet paper and it happened to be the double rolls. Two young blond women arrived and proceeded to discuss which brand they should buy and I, thinking I was being helpful said "The double rolls work out to be the cheapest." They both looked at each other, smirked and one said "My ass isn't that fat". They grabbed a package of single rolls and walked away. I was flabbergasted. Firstly, I have rarely encountered that level of rudeness. Secondly, this was a small town and the likelihood of us crossing paths again was definitely possible. I was the only professional in my field in town at that time and I don't know how I would have handled things if either of them came to me for help. -
Well, that's wonderful that you're refocusing, Pinkylee. When you say you want to brush up on your skills, to you mean as a musician or as a teacher? My son is 14 and thinks he knows everything. He's cavalier about his schooling and what happens at home, but boy does he ever listen to his music teacher. His teacher gets cranky sometimes and is very economical with his praise and my son adores him. Sometimes kids just rise to the occasion, I guess. Good luck with all this, it sounds like you're creating just what you want.

I've read of several people getting gall bladder surgery after banding. Maybe if you do a search you will find some postings. Congratulations on your loss, by the way, well done!

Don't Go To The Hospital In U.K.
Devana replied to sophrosyne's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Sophrosyne, I'm sorry to hear about your husband's gran. I heard little bits about the troubles on the BBC international news sites. I also read this on the BBC site several months ago: Some hospitals in the UK have found colloidal silver to be the only effective thing against MRSA. They won't all be using it, I'm guessing, because of pressure from the pharmaceutical companies or maybe just lack of knowledge. I don't know how easy it will be for you to pick some up and give it to her. It's worth a try at this point. -
Pinkylee, what's this about piano? Are you a former piano teacher? Have you not played for awhile?
-
Yvonne, I would be discouraged, too. I would think all the necessary healing would have happened by now. The whole idea of the band is to get to that sweet spot of restriction, to get the band working for you. You may want to ask the dr. about this long wait. Do you have any fill doctors in the UK, where you could do fills privately? However I'm quite sure doing that would piss your band surgeon off.

Welcome bandid, I'm glad you found us. I hope you get a surgery date soon.
