Homosexual Liberal Atheists ~ What's UP with that?
Devana replied to paladin's topic in Rants & Raves
I'm not fond of camel. -
I, too, am afraid to go in for a fill. I've had 3 so far and still feel very little restriction. As much as I try, I just can't limit myself to the half cup portions. I feel like I need intense behaviour modification like having electrodes attached to my lips or something like that. With my last fill, we discovered that there was not as much in as we had estimated. So I don't know if I have a slow leak or we just miscalculated. The reason I'm afraid to go is that I was so tight after the last one that I was waking up choking for a couple of nights and it scared me. I guess my saliva had nowhere to go other than down my trachea. That soon passed, however, and I can eat any bloody thing again.

Welcome!! Congratulations on your banding date.

I guess I wasn't sure who was proud of who. If I say that I wholeheartedly, halfheartedly or happily support someone or something, I'm the person who is happy or halfhearted or whatever. So if a person was proud of themselves for supporting something, that would suggest to me that if they didn't support support that thing, they may think less of themselves. And this may interfere with critical thinking. Am I making sense? So, from your replies, I understand that you're proud of what you support rather than yourselves. Thanks, I think I've got it!

Homosexual Liberal Atheists ~ What's UP with that?
Devana replied to paladin's topic in Rants & Raves
After years of cooking, I'm heartily sick of it. I'm inclined now to occasionally do one of those marathon days where I cook up a pile of stuff for the freezer. I actually had a cook for awhile many years ago. It was heaven. She was a friend who had cooked in several of the nicest restaurants in the city I was in at the time. Every two weeks she would deliver two big bags full of soups, casseroles, dips and other interesting things. It wasn't two whole weeks worth of meals, but enough to give me a few days of not having to think about what to make. When I became pregnant, I banked her goodies in the freezer to use in the few weeks after the birth. We stopped because she got a full time job and I never worked full time again after that, therefore I couldn't justify it to myself. -
I'm wondering if someone can help me out with this. I've read several times on this thread and others about how people "proudly" support the president, and I really don't understand what that means. I have strongly supported people and things and weakly supported them but I don't understand the pride part. Maybe it's because I'm a dumb Canuck. I'm asking this in all sincerity.

Tell Gillian she looks smashing! That's very attractive on her.

Hooray Ginger, congratulations on your date! To talk to those who have been banded recently you may want to check out the April bandster thread.

Hi there eljmom, that's only a few days away! Congratulations. And it sounds like May is a very fitting month to get it. -
Bamix mixer. It's Swiss and I had one when I lived in England. When I got back here all I could find were Braun stick mixers which were pretty pathetic. I finally found another Bamix at a trade show. I don't need a blender or mixer, I can do everything with it. Kyolic brand garlic supplements. I could do a commercial for these guys. I never get ill. Every time a feel a little something coming on I take a handful and it gets stopped in it's tracks. Oral B Hummingbird flosser. I use the green pick. Totally great for my gums. Superfloss, you know, the kind with the stiff end. They're handy for all kinds of things besides flossing, in that you can thread them through little holes. Buzzbox. This is an ambient sound machine that we use when we sleep. It totally cuts out all noise except very low flying planes. Eye mask. I cut a strip off the bottom of large size black T-shirts and sort of double loop them. Having my eyes darkened and cradled softly makes me sleep well. Snake light. One of those flashlights with a long and flexible shaft. I've tried every possible book light made and they're all crap. The snake light I can wrap around my neck and aim perfectly at the book or even curl it up on my pillow and aim it.

BJean, I'm so sorry about your sister. How long has she been gone? I know I would miss mine terribly. -
Welcome Amber. Most people find that as they lose weight it's just easier to move. There's less joint pain and less effort involved. A lot of people rediscover the joy of exercise once the weight starts coming off. All the best to you with your plans and keep posting.

New Here and Considering Lap Band - Any Florida Dr. Recommendations?
Devana replied to mls67's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Mary and welcome. This is a great place for information and support. You might want to try looking in the US local lapband threads near the bottom of the home page. I'll bet there's some Florida threads going and other bandsters in your area you can connect with. All the best with your decision. -
Hi Robin. I'm glad you found us. Usually once the initial swelling goes down many people find that they feel very little restriction. It's only after a fill or fills that you reach the "sweet spot". IMO I think it's still good to stick to the 1/2 cup rule, even if you can handle more. It's part of getting into the bandster rules habit. Try drinking more Water when you feel hungry between meals. It works for me. Good luck!

Mew, congratulations on your date!!! My family was a big factor in my decision as well. My boy is 14 and I want to be able to do more things with him before he's grown. Good luck and keep us posted.

I almost have a wife. It's my sister and she works for me. She organizes my working life, cuts through bureaucratic crap, matches wits with unpleasant bureaucrats, puts paper and pen and a cup of tea on my desk and makes me sit down to write a report when needed, crosses the t's, dots the i's. She's wonderful. Her work and ministrations allow me to do what I'm good at. Now if only I can get someone like that for our house, which looks like a war zone most of the time. -
Welcome Jess! Keep reading and ask any questions. You'll find an abundance of information and support here.
-
Welcome Gena, I'm glad you found us.

This is so pathetic. I had never noticed the first unread option before. What a useful feature.

Ahh, Cocolate, I don't have anything to say beyond what Alexandra and Tricia so eloquently put, other than my heart, too, goes out to you. You have all my good thoughts and support.

Sockeye and hummus. Not together!

Seaangel, I saw Dr Huacuz. I went down with my friend Jane and we were banded together. She was low BMI and is already at her goal weight and looking really good. Yes, I am satisfied with my experience, and I certainly will go out of country for any future PS that I'll surely need once I get to goal. I looked into all the credit stuff and was actually approved for a loan for the procedure in Canada, however, there was nobody that would give that type of loan for a Canadian getting it done in another country. I checked them all. What I did was take out a new low interest credit card and put it on that. It's almost paid off, thank goodness. As far as your fills go, I'll bet you could find someone over the border to do it. There are fill centres and possibly other Dr's who may do it. Go hang out in the US threads and the fill threads for awhile.

Hi litar. Welcome to LBT. I'm up island. Are you going all the way to Toronto for your fills?
