My bloggie for the Month of January 2009:
julestoyou commented on LilMissDiva Irene's blog entry in Welcome to LilMiss's Blog! Enjoy your stay!
Yes, this was a great blog. Hey dolphanatic22 I also have diabetes and I have had weight problems for years. I got diabetes 2 yrs ago. I got banded on 11/20 and I don't take Actos at all anymore. I take half the amount of Metformin. It is wonderful. -
Slinderblella, Wow, the fills you have had. I got banded on 11/20 had a fill on 12/18 1.8cc in a 9.75cc band and am going in for another fill on 1/10. I had some restriction at first and have only lost a total of 17 lbs and loved the way it felt when I first got the fill. Now it does nothing. I do not want to see myself go up even one lb in the opposite way. I will continue to be agressive with the fills and keep working toward the "sweet spot! I see a lot of people have to keep adjusting, adjusting, adusting. I am going to ask for the thicker stuff if they will do it? Good luck to you.

To tell or not to tell?!?
julestoyou replied to IWannaBeSkinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Katiebugs, SCREW HER! She is not your friend. I am so glad I did not tell a lot of people as trust me I wanted to everytime I had a victory. But I am so glad I didn't as there is no stress of other people MONITORING everything you put in your mouth or how much or when you eat. It is a sport or pass time for them as they obviously don't have this particular cross to bare. Hang in there. Even my husband asks me too often how am I doing. That is bad enough but I can just say Please quit asking or questioning what I just ate. BE STRONG. This is NOT the easy way out, IT IS for 99% of us the only way out of getting any control over this addiction. :tongue2: -
To tell or not to tell?!?
julestoyou replied to IWannaBeSkinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wrote earlier today on this blog and we have similar feeligns about it. I know some people are comfortable to discuss all the time but I have to tell you that I said I was taking a quick vacation with my husband to Mexico where I had it done and was gone Wed-Fri. Went to work on the following Monday with no drama and no one has noticed a thing including eating liquids and mushies. Now I eat normal food and no one still notices. The first two months have been up and down as far as the weight and u/stnding that it may take many fills to get it right. In the mean time it is like being on a diet and it takes will power. Not my strongest issue and why I got the band in the first place. Not telling has been best for me personally. I am already hard enough on myself about this and the micro managing is best done by the expert me. HaHa -
Search on website Wendell Edwards. He is a doctor that explains what is happening. I had a fill 2 1/2 weeks ago and I am going back for another one already. I have also read you can ask for a sticky fill which is thicker and works better for some people who go back over and over. But read the way it works from Wendell Edwards.

Hi,
You sent me a very nice private message today and for the life of me I have tried to respond. So, I found your page to say hi back. Hope to hear back from you and maybe figure out how to use this site more effectlively.

Don't laugh at me. Please try this and I am sure within 24 hours you will be in much better shape. Again, I don't care how sill you think this is it will help. Go get some Listerene right now and suck it up and swirl it in your mouth and slosh it around that tooth. Suck it up and hold it in there for a minute. Do it 4-5 times today and continue doing it and you will be amazed at how much better it feels within 1-3 days.

Keep it up. I had a fill one month after and it was amazing. Before I had the fill I too wa hungry and upset. But I got it on 12/18 and it sure helped me get through the holidays. But I am already feeling no restriction and spent some time on this site and found that you can lose your fill. Yeah! I am not crazy. Now after only three weeks I am going in for another fill as I am getting hungry and can eat more and more every day. Good luck. Yes, you can see the difference already.

To tell or not to tell?!?
julestoyou replied to IWannaBeSkinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To tell or not to tell?!? I was wondering what most of you are doing about telling people prior to surgery. At first I wasnt going to tell many people. But, then I decided that it was easier to be open and honest about it at work. I figured if I told anyone, then everyone else would "hear threw the grapevine". So, I wanted everyone to hear from me personally and then any questions they had I could answer directly. I wanted to share with you that I have and did want to tell everyone before I did it. But I only told my mother, husband, sister who is easily over 100 lbs bigger than me and a close nurse friend. Of course my sister was the worst about it and beyond negative. In fact I didn't tell her until two days after as she kept asking my mother where was I. I called her up and told her one negative thing and the phone was hanging up. I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW GLAD I AM THAT I DID NOT DISCUSS THIS AT WORK. WHY YOU ASK? WHY HIDE IT OR WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL IT? Because it has been so much less stressful and easier to go through the first two months. Where I went you didn't get a fill during the operation. I initially lost maybe 6-8 lbs then 14 lbs. Then within three weeks I was back up to within 8 lbs of my surgery weight and very upset. I called my doctor went for a fill within four weeks of surgery and then lost a total of 19 lbs. I got the fill five days before christmas and got through all the holidays with great ease. Now I am frustrated again as I feel no restriction and as if I never got a fill. So, today I started researching it and found that you can lose your fill and some people have to redo their fills like every 3-4 weeks as they lose the saline. Thank God for this website. Whenever I have an issue I go on here and find the answer. So, now I will set up for another fill and this tme as for a sticky fill so it sticks. My whole point to this is I don't have to EXPLAIN to anyone what is going on or my false starts or waste my energy on every up and down with people who don't u/stnd nor would they care except to stare and judge how fast or slow I was losing. It is wonderful to go through this only talking to bandsters and people who are going through it. Why should you waste your time trying to talk to skinny people who aren't going to comprehend the ups and downs. Let me tell you when the fill isn't working the will power to not eat more is so hard. The band is a tool and it works. But if I have to get a fill every 3 weeks I will. It works so well when it is working. Another thing I learned is that I wait at the minimum 3 hrs after eating before I drink anything. Wow! What a difference it makes on not getting hungry even with a good fill. Sorry for the book!. I am SO GLAD I DIDN"T TELL EVERYONE AS I CAN KEEP FOCUSED ON WORK AND NOT MAKING THE DAILY TOPIC OF EVERYONE STARING AT ME AS I GO THROUGH THIS WONDERFUL NEW JOURNEY. IT"S MY EXPERIENCE NOT THEIRS. -
Are you diabetic? Do you know? That is a big sign for diabetes. Did you go off your meds after surgery? Have you checked your blood sugar levels lately?
