Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris
TC27 replied to susanlondon's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi Wishfull, I'm mega nervous but excited at the same time and just want it over and done with before I change my mind lol. How about you? I have gained over a stone since booking my op, so the quicker the better as most of my clothes dont fit anymore and I am most deffo not buying new ones until I have lost some weight. I dont know of anyone having their band fitted the same day as me, so hopefully I will be first down - I know what you mean; waiting around wouldn't be good, although I'm usually lucky and dont suffer after having anaesthetic. I hope you get your wish and get your op early in the day and also that you dont suffer too much after the anaesthetic. Wish I was coming with you three - I wouldn't even mind being last!! Dont forget to let us know about every single detail of your experience - even the gory bits if there is any. T x -

Hi Freckles - welcome back to the forum. I would be gutted if my band developed a hole, especially as it has taken so long to save up for the op in the first place. Good luck with your next one and hopefully you can get some compensation from somewhere as it is shocking you have to pay again when the band was oviously faulty before it was fitted. T x -

Hi Gillian, I'm feeling exactly like you, I just want it to be over and done with now:bored:. Three weeks and it will all be over. I ordered my Euros from an internet site yesterday as they were offering a good rate- I'm crossing my fingers and everything else that they deliver the money on time as promised:) I'm never off Youtube after watching Miss Flump's video and not all the stories are positive. I just hope ours is a success and no holes appear!! Hope you and all the other people who have started their pre-op diet are doing well. Good luck to you, bigsister and wishfull - not long now:thumbup: T x -

Hi Sanflan. I'm having my surgery on 27th Jan - 1 week after you. I'm dreading starting my pre-op diet. Look forward to hearing your story after you have your band fitted. The recent bandsters - Tropical Lagoon and Miss Flump have provided great post-op info and it has helped me lots in preparing myself , although I'm still very nervous - thanks to you both and also to everyone else for your great support. Hi Gillian. I'm sure I read somewhere on here that someone was in a mixed ward - hopefully I just dreamt that as I would want a bolt on the toilet door, never mind leaving it open. TLs story was really informative and very well written, I don't think I could explain things so well. I am very grateful to her for sharing her journey so far. I just want it over now too, but it will be here before we know it. When are you starting your low fat diet ? T x -

Hi bigsister - you and Gillian are very lucky to have such an understanding Mam. My Dad knows how important this is to me and he is trying to talk her round for me, bless him. I will have to test the fridge theory out with my Mam, she is a chocolate and biscuit fiend and the fridge is always full of goodies but she never gains an ounce - lucky thing. Tx -

Hi Tropical Lagoon. I would like to say a big thank you for emailing me a copy of your journey so far. It was a great read and full of useful info which is much appreciated as I think it's the not knowing that makes you more nervous before hand. I hope you have a fab weight loss in 2009. T x -

Yes, one down and one to go. I'm going to try and get an appointment with my GP on Monday. I think it's best I do it before I have my band fitted, hopefully she will be as understanding as yours was. I will let you know how I get on. Thank you for being so upbeat about everything you along with the other members really keep me motivated. I hope you and everyone else on here has a great New Year. Roll on for a slimmer 2009 for us all. T x -

Hi TL - keep your chin up flower. I'm sure the people that have already had their band fitted will know exactly how you are feeling and it is great to have somewhere to get advice and share your feelings - good and bad. I am just like you and it takes me forever to lose a pound, no matter how hard I try ( I think it's an age thing with me as it never used to be this hard, but that might just be seen as an excuse by some). I also have just over 5 stones to lose and I'm sure in 2009 we will both see a big difference, even if it takes a while to get to target. Roll on 27th Jan for me! Take care. T x -

- Hi Gillian I agree all the recent bandits are doing brill - well done Miss Flump and Tropical Lagoon, it's been great reading your posts. 11 days after you, bigsister and wishfull and I can't wait, although it would be nice to hear that someone is having their band the same day as me. I think it would be great to have someone to talk to in the hospital, apart from my hubby bless him. I have asked TL to kindly send me her band story, so look forward to reading it. I told my Mam today that I have actually booked the op and she said she still disagrees but I think I saw a tiny chink in her armour!! T x -

Hi Fox - I'm really pleased you are feeling a lot better now - don't over do it though!! Have you tried a drink yet? I know I will realy miss my vodka and coke after I have my band. I don't like any other alcoholic drinks but I'm sure I will try my best to find an alternative if I have to :-) T x -

Welcome mizofatso. I haven't been banded yet so don't really know how long it would take to recover enough before going on a long flight home (it's only just over a hour for me), but I'm sure Dr Chris would be able to answer your questions and give his honest opinion on flying home etc. There may also be others going the same time as you, so when you have a date for your op, just ask on this forum if anyone else is being banded around the same time. Good luck and let us know what you decide. T x -

Hi TropicalLagoon. I just want to wish you and Miss Flump good luck for next week, I will be thinking of you both. I'm sure you will be fine but I think it is only natural to be nervous; I know I am (due to be banded on 27th January). I will look forward to your first post after the op. Take care. T x -

Thank you for that flirtylass - what a relief. I was picturing myself naked with just the support stockings and hair net on and it wasn't a pretty sight:laugh:. It was bad enough for the lady who was told to takes hers off but OMG I would die of embarrassment if my knickers had been taken off during surgery. Way to go Dr Chris !!. Gillian's idea of a message printed on her knickers telling them to leave them on is a fab plan and would give them al a laugh in the OR too. She sounds like great fun and her, bigsister and wishful will be lucky to be in the same ward in the hospital. I feel so sorry for you that you had no one to talk to - that's my dread too, but at least it is only for one night. Hopefully my husband will be able to stay for most of the day - do you know anything about visiting arrangements? Thank you for all the info and well done on your excellent weight loss, almost 4 stones is brilliant:thumbup: T x -

Hi Gillian, I had a lovely but hectic weekend in York - so much for the credit crunch, the shops were manic. The angel festival, craft and christmas stalls were all good too. I am eating and drinking far too much and cant wait for my band as none of my clothes fit anymore and I dont want to buy new bigger ones when I'm hoping to lose lots of weight soon! I have been reading all the posts from the people recently banded and just want it to be over and done with now, I'm getting more nervous by the minute and yes they are doing brilliantly (thank you so much to you all for the info - it is realy helpfull and interesting:thumbup:) I think you are really lucky to be having bigsister and wishful with you at the hospital. I'm sure it doesn't matter who goes down first as you will all be there for each other at all stages of the process- although I know I would like to be first too :smile2: Silly question I know but do you think we will get to keep our knickers on while we have the op - that is the bit that is worrying me the most (daft I know but that's just the way I am:blushing:) My huge body is not the best with clothes, never mind without them:laugh: T x -

Hi everyone - just wanted to say a big hello and welcome to the new people on the forum and also well done to bytheseaside and alfie858 on your fantastic weight loss; I hope I do that well. Thanks mmm for the info on the best exchange rates for the euro - it is dire at the minute isn't it :-( Good luck to all of you who are due to be banded soon too- my best wishes go with you for a safe and successful trip Thank you also to you Gillian for your witty banter - it is helping keep my nerves at bay. I'm pleased I am not having my band fitted the same day as you as my stiches wouldn't stay in situ very long!! T x -

Well done you - I'm so pleased you are back home safely with your family and that you are coping well with it all. I have enjoyed reading and am very grateful for all the info you have provided and I am also over the moon for you on your great weight loss so far. I hope you are feeling better today:girl_hug:. Hello and welcome!! - I was originally going to book with Tullia Law, however after reading the posts on this forum I have now booked directly with Dr Chris for 4070 euros (includes op, taxis and hotel) I think it is the cheaper option?? The people on here have been a great support to me and although I have researched the whole procedure for a long time I have found more info on this site than any other and now feel fully informed and ready to have the band fitted. Good luck with whatever you decide. T x -

OMG Gillian, that is so spooky - I paid the same as you (but mine was top back right!) and I thought the tooth fairy would visit too but the bag didn't:mad2: I have had lots of nurofen plus and vodka - although I must say was advised against the alcohol (I never listen). I had my first Christmas dinner on Sunday as my husband goes away to work tomorrow until 27th December (his 50th birthday!!) and I had been having a whale of a time - until my tooth broke that is :-( Never mind there is still plenty of time before the 27th Jan. Hope you are feeling better. TTYL T x
