I began my journey 2 years ago in 2013. I had found my doctor and was one week away from my surgery date. I had been experiencing a lot of back pain and couldn't wait to get the weight off to elliviate some of the discomfort. One night my back went into spasms and my husband rushed me to the hospital because I could not walk. They did all there general tests to tp find the cause but as I waited for them to tell me I had a herniated disk or some such instead the emergency doctor had to come in and tell me they found multiple lesions on my pelvic bones. It was cancer and we needed to do more testing to find the primary. The next day I had a mammogram and they found breast cancer that had traveled to one lymph node that had then traveled to my skeleton. I was catagorized with stage 4 and my bones were infested. It's only in earlier stages where you would have a mastectomy and chemotherapy to prevent the breast tumor from spreading. In stage 4, everybody slows down and they try and find ways to make you more comfortable and keep you living as long as possible. No cure, no guarantees. Needless to say, I had to cancel my weight loss surgery and begin hormonal treatment which thru me into menopause at the age of 42 and begin 10 rounds of radiation to kill the lesions on my pelvis that were preventing me from walking and controlling bladder function. A month later 10 more rounds of radiation to my ribs front and back from lesions and fractures that felt like I was living in a metal vice that had severe pain just to breath and sleep. It worked like a charm. Amazing, invisible stuff that radiation beam. It literally saved my sanity. The pain it took away, made me want to die and made me assume that I was dying and very quickly. I am now 2 years to the date of my previous surgery date, I am not cured but I am stable. The lesions I still have are reduced and dormant thanks to monthly shot to stop ovary function, monthly infusion of a bone therapy that keeps the bone strong and a little white pill that keeps the cancer sells asleep, until they mutate again and become active, then I will be switched to a different little pill that will hopefully make it dormant again. And so on and so on and so on until there's no more choices. But in the mean time, I went back to the previous Bariatric doctor Dr. Bina and he said if I got clearance from my oncologist at MD Anderson, he would do my surgery. My oncologist was concerned but after explaining the surgery and a few tears, he sent over his approval and I a having my long awaited sleeve this coming Friday, april 17, 2015. I feel like I'm getting MY life back. And it could only help me to get this weight off my bones and my heart and give me a healthier outcome for what time I have left. Amen. Hallelujah God is good all the time!!!!!!
