What are you eating? Have you talked to the diet person? I can't get hold of her yet and don't know if I'm eating too much or too little. -

Hi all, Finally getting to have mashed potatoes and soft casseroles. Anyone know what the heck that would be? I've heard horror stories of pasta, so I'm not sure if that would include pasta type casseroles. -

Thanks for the great link to the protein! -
I have a print out of what I can and can not eat but not the amounts. I just wondered if I'm *normal*. I drink a Dr. prescribed Protein/fiber drink ...powder mixed with 8 oz. water. *takes me a half of a day to drink it all* 1 jello cup SF..still haven't finished it 1 applesauce cup with Slenda..still not finished For lunch and supper I had a 1/2 can of cream of chicken soup. (1/2 cup at a time) Mixed with my half cup of CC soup I added and 1/8th of a cup of pureed squash with a 1/4 tsp.of WW butter. I've drank 16 oz of water but that's the hardest to get in since I don't like drinking water...I'm working on that. I'm going to calorieking to figure out the calories...but I didn't know if your suppose to graze all day (trying to get it all eaten) or just eat 3 meals a day.

Hugs and prayers to all that will be banded this week. Remember to take care of yourself and put yourself first for ONCE! This is your new beginning. For those that their boyfriends or husbands aren't on board about this..ask yourself why? Are they scared of losing you? OR scared of you not being what they want? Make sure you sit down and calmly talk this through. Good or bad you will understand the real reason. Be strong in knowing that you are in control of what is best for you...where ever that takes your relationship. If someone loves you....really loves you...they will be there for you and cheer you along. -
I had my banding April 9th. Still in pain but not anything compared to day 1,2,3. Each day it's easier and I'm getting stronger except for today. I've tried to do more today but feel awful..sorta tearful and just tired. I haven't been sleeping much. Now folks I'm here to tell you that I don't get tearful:think but VERY SELDOM. I'm sorta dizzy and thought since I haven't been eating maybe my BP was low because of laying around and not as much sodium in my diet. I was unhappy to take my blood pressure:cry and it was 168/89. I've been cutting my pill in half since the pharmacist said it would be fine. My BP usually runs 140/78 with meds. Anyone have this happen after surgery? I haven't changed any meds except cutting the Verapamil in half.

I'm trying to find a new protein..what is IDS and where do you buy it? -
Thank you for reporting back. I felt it had something to do with surgery meds, since everything was o.k. before the surgery.

I live around Possum Kingdom lake area. I'm going to try and be there this month if at all possible. See you there. -
Hi Teach! Nice to meet you. Have you asked your doctor what is going on? Of course I found my bp high on Friday evening after the Dr. was closed and was just wondering. I'm taking just my meds as usual..cutting the BP med in half but not taking all the vitamins that I was taking. I'm too afraid of them getting stuck. Good luck to you and will watching for your posts.

The pain is from moving. When I sit still I don't have pain but am tired. It feels like the port is pulling and keeping the area painful. No, red streaks, no blood or pus. I'll try that postion to sleep. Thanks so much!
-
I just feel TIRED! I still have problems sleeping because of the port site pulling. The pain is in the port site anytime I try to pull myself up or bend over, etc. Walking is fine. I'm having a hard time sitting at the desk/computer. That's why I'm on a laptop in my big comfy chair. I called the Dr. yesterday with some questions and it was ..yes it will still be painful, yes the port site hurts the most, yes there is still swelling in the digestive track and will cause air bubbles/shoulder pain. I guess I'm 5 days out and just impatient. I never have been good at taking time to heal. I just want to be well tomorrow. Instant gratification!

Hey! Glad to hear your doing well! I'm usually pretty tough but I think not getting the pain under control let it take over. I wasn't told until we were going to drive the 2hours back that I could take two of the pain pills at a time. I think I was taking the lowest dose:eek: Do you go to the support groups on the last Tuesday of the month? I'm thinking about driving the two hours; at least this first time. I haven't met in person any bandster yet. At least not that Dr. Carter did surgery on. I'm looking forward to meeting some others that had the same surgeon. He and his staff have very very kind and understanding. -
Thanks Wasa, but I'm taking the full amount just halving it since it's a big pill. I haven't taken anything for pain in a couple of days...I think I'm over doing a little and just *toughing it through the pain*. I know that pain makes the BP high but I will watch it. Thanks for the support.

I had my surgery on April 9th. I was self pay so stayed the first night in the hotel the surgery center provided. The pain was much more than I had anticipated. My doctor doesn't want his patients drugged to the point of not walking and sipping. It was ROUGH!! I'm 4 days post surgery and feeling much better. I still have pain at the port site and pulling of that area. I'm trying to learn my lap band body..which is very weird. I think I swallow air and it doesn't go down..painful but it teaches you quickly what NOT to do. I'm trying hard to drink as much fluid as I need..but I wasn't good at that before. I will start full liquids tomorrow and don't really know the scope of what that means yet. My advice to those that are coming. Make sure you have someone to help you for at least 3 days. Be kind to yourself this time in your life and take two weeks off if at all possible!! I was going to take off only one week but decided for the first time in my life I was going to take care of myself. My husband has been an angel about helping me, even though he wasn't onboard with the idea of lap band at first. I'm now starting MY NEW BEGINNING!!!!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: -

I'm leaving the hotel in about 30 min. for my lap band. So scared but going through with what will be my new beginning. I'll come back to the hotel for a day then if everything is o.k. leave Tuesday morning. Send a prayer for me if you have time. Surgery from 9:00 central to 11:00. I'll post when I feel like it. -
I'm wondering what the rate of lose is for volume eaters. I'm hoping that lap band really helps the volume eater...which I am one. I like sweets at times but my main problem is too much food. In other words is the lap band better for one type of over eaters than the other?

I'm having my surgery on Monday..April 9th. I've already had friends and family say to me..*oh no, now we can't go out and eat or we can't have BBQ's anymore, etc. Even my husband (which is muscle and no fat) is moaning about the fact that our social life (our social life consists of eating out with friends and having family over for big meals..southern style) will NOT be the same. What is a good reply? Since I'm not banded yet..I have no idea. IDEAS?:help:
-
I'm already worry about that and haven't been banded yet. Maybe I'm worrying that I've not made the right choice if the band will eventally slip or the pouch will stretch and I will once again be fat or fatter somewhere down the road. My question is this: Was your band sewn in? If it was how did the slippage happen? Thank you for taking the time to answer a worry wart's questions.

Thanks to all for answering my questions.
