I've had ONE fill which gave me a *tiny* bit of restriction. The day BEFORE we fly across country for a vacation; I am suppose to get my second fill. I usually swell like a toad when I fly. What does it do to the band? ( I'm thinking about how my shampoo bottles look when I unpack..all squished or puffed) I'm also afraid of eating too much if I don't have a fill but on the other hand what if I'm too tight and miserable and pb'ing. I've got 1 cc in a 4 cc band right now. I'm not sure what the Doctor puts in the second fill. He gives everyone 1 cc the first time. Input? Experience? Great $uccess, Househuntress

I will have my first fill today and have to travel 2 hours to the Doctor. I didn't think to ask about this until last night and now it's too late. I have a 1:00 pm. appt. of course I want to eat at 11:30. Does it make a difference if you eat or not?:hungry: I tried to search the answer and it kept coming back that I didn't use enough words for my search!!! Great Success to ALL!

I vote for Vegas, easy airfare and hotels for all plus it's cheaper. I don't have little ones at home, so what's better.....going during school or when it's out? Mom's? -

Anyone GAIN weight before their fill? I'll get my first fill in two days. I felt no hunger for 6 weeks (other than head hunger). I did well lost weight..but then about two weeks ago it was like a light switch that switched back to my old demon hunger!! I've fought and fought but have gone back (not totally) to the old way..doing well during the day but overeating at night. I can eat anything...no restriction. I weighed this morning after being on the lake and eating CRAP. Weight this morning..get this 5!! FIVE pounds since Friday!!! Of course now I want to starve myself to get the weight off in two days?????? Like it didn't work for 40 years why do I think it will work NOW!!!!! I feel horrible and soooo down!! WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME????!!!!!!!!!!!!:help::help::help: Thanks for listening. -
I was wondering about the average fill rate with those of us that have a 4CC band. I'll get my first fill May 30th. My Dr. believes in giving the first fill 8-9 weeks after banding. Which btw I feel that's too long to wait. The reason being at first you can't eat much and learn to eat small portions and chew well..by the time you wait so long you've fallen back into the old BAD habits. He also will give 1CC only as a first fill. What does your doctor do?

Hello All, Sooo jealous of all the hard working teachers that will have the summer OFF!! You all deserve it! I'm finally scheduled for a fill next Wednesday. I was working hard at not eating, but frankly it was too..hard. Early last week it was like a light switch had been turned on!! My OLD Appetite was BACK!! I've struggled and struggled each night like I did for 40 freaking years. Last night I came up with a short term solution! I got the teeth whiten strips and when my worst time to eat at night comes around. I plaster those things on my teeth. I didn't eat last night and on my way to whiter teeth and a fill the 30th. -

 I'm just sooo mad at myself. I was banded April 9th, 07 and can't get a fill until May 30th. I can eat just about anything. I've been trying hard to eat the small meals. I've lost 23lbs since band day and these last two week, it's been harder to stay with the smaller portions. Well tonight..I blew it. I ate WAY more than I have ever since getting banded. It was almost like I was just trying to see how much I could eat. Now..let me add this..it's NO WHERE NEAR..what I could eat before the band. It's just about double what I have eaten a day since banded.:hungry: I ate out Thursday lunch, Thursday dinner and Friday lunch..so maybe that was what started all of this. I'll have to try to figure out what happened. But I'm still very pissed at myself.:faint: :faint:  I keep trying to listen to myself and say it was just ONE day, just ONE day. :angry -

You both are BEAUTIFUL...I've read what you write and know that you both are beautiful inside and out. Now...I'm going to be really blunt. Ask yourselves what your boyfriends get out of the arrangement. do you cook, clean, take care of him? help with the money? be a bedmate? Love him and want to marriage him? NOW..what do you get and WANT..a man that takes all of this from a woman ..and doesn't marry that woman is a selfish man. Please do NOT waste another moment of your percious lives on such a man. If this man LOVED you he would have jumped at the change to marry you. This has NOTHING to do with you..only that you have somehow hitched on to something that only takes and never gives. Each of you are getting stronger in who you are...please, please don't waste your lives with such a person. Hugs, Hugs, Hugs... -

I've got to take off now for work. But I wanted to reply to Kat. I have a very dear friend that had cardiac ablation after years of added beats, skipped beats, taking meds. The procedure didn't take long at all and he was and is back to tip top shape...without problems and living a full life. That's my prayer to you for hubby that this will fix his problems. -
I was banded April 9th this year and still sip even though I don't have a fill yet. Since I can really eat most things now, I try to sip and chew/chew to stay in practice. Your stomach will relax some after the swelling goes down from the surgery and you will be able to drink more quickly. I just think it's not a good idea to get into the bad habit of eating or drinking fast like we use to.

Doctors say...will loose approx. 60% of your weight in one year. THAT'S an AVERAGE!!! Who here is AVERAGE? NOT ME!! Calories in Engery out! Plain and simple. Plateuas are not fun and everyone will hit them. Let your body adjust for a week or two after that..it's something you are not doing correctly to loose. Why do I know this? I was the orginal poster girl for every diet known to man. After the inital loss..I got bored, complaint, etc and of course I didn't lose. Look at WHAT you are eating. Is it dense? Takes time to chew and eat and doesn't slide right on down? Excercise? Just walking does wonders for burning calories and mood enhancing. What I'm trying to say is..you can loose all the weight YOU want to lose. NO ONE can say X number of pounds and the band won't let you lose more. Only YOU can do that. Be happy that you have a tool. Get in the right frame of mind to continue your journey. Hugs to all! -

I loved spicy food before and love it now. I eat hot n sour soup, which at my chinese food resturant has chili paste in it. Spicy doesn't bother me, just try a tiny bit and see. I also grown peppers and tomatoes for homemade salsa. In Texas we LOVE Tex-Mex food!:clap2: -

Just thought I would post. Checking on everyone and seems like I'm in the same boat. Bandster hell. I've eaten so much SF jello that I wiggle. I walked tonight all by myself. Which is a big thing. I would always call someone to walk and if they didn't want to...I didn't walk. Well tonight..I thought I had better get my butt out there since I ate more than usual. O.K. let me rephrase that. I didn't eat anything close to what I use to ..but after eating soup, mushies and tiny bits for 3 weeks..I feel like I'm Ms. Piglet when I eat 1200 calories. Still my hunger is B A C K. So I have to be EXTRA careful.:faint: It pisses me off that after everything this monster called hunger is back gnawing at me. But this time it won't get me. I'm fighting it for all I'm worth. One bite wrong will NOT derail ME!!:hungry: Bandster Hell? Just a mind set..it's MY LEARNING CURVE. -

Hello Everyone, My Band Doctor wants his patients to stay eating like Weight Watchers or Phase3 of South Beach. I was off and on WW forever and they have a great website with free receipes and message boards (community boards only). I thought it might help with light recipes. Plus you can always get used WW cookbooks at half price book stores or amazon.com. -

TracyinKS, I'm 18 days out and notice the hunger about at day 15. When I eat out...my favorite thing to do (well almost *G*) I felt I could eat a lot. BUT I didn't. I COULD eat more than I had been eating. I was only taking in about 600 calories a day and the nurse said I needed more food. A bad thing to tell ME. Anyway, since I'm eating more about 1,000 calories a day..my weight loss has stalled. Since surgery I was losing a #1 a day. Now ..nothing for 3 days. I'm going to eat more protein and not mix in the carbs...to see if that might work. It's a journey that's for sure. Good LUCK!! -
I like the idea of having a Texas Thread also. I think the other thread will be called Shrinking Violets soon. I was banded April 9th. A lot of pain right after surgery. I was an outpatient. Doctor wouldn't give much pain meds..so I *HURT* for about 4 days. Each day got better..but WOW:omg: . Getting a little hungry now..having to watch it. My Dr. won't allow a fill for 90 days!!!

I haven't seen the patient consultant at Dr. Carters office yet. They say since I'm so far away she will call me. I've called twice but no call back. I did talk to one of the nurses and she said I wasn't eating enough to eat more.:omg: :omg: NEVER tell me to eat MORE!!! Anyway I guess because they haven't seen me..they set my date for May 30th. We had surgery on the same day didn't we? I sent you an email but maybe it didn't go through. I missed the monthly meeting. I had appointments all day and couldn't spend the 2 hours there and 2 back. I'm fighting the hungery bug at every meal. I'm not eating anywhere near what I did but I don't get that full feeling like I did a week ago. -
I want to have a poll on pain after surgery. 1. hospital stay vs out patient (NO COMPLICATIONS) 2. what you were given for at home pain 3. pain after surgery for how many days 4. degree of pain...10 being your arm was cut off and 1 being a paper cut. 5. Doctor and state where surgery was done. I need help doing this...since I'm computer challenged.:help:
