HI Y'all Considering Docs in DFW TX area

I had surgery April 9th, 2007. I'm happy with my doctor and progress...I've had a total slow down of weight loss the last two months but...it's for a life time not a race. There's NO pre-surgery diet...and he's aggressive with fills. He always uses fluro to check out the band and the fill...that's so very important. Good Luck! -
My surgery was April 9th, 2007. I've lost 72# to date....and have almost that much to go!! I would like some input from those that have been there done that. 1. Did you stall at any time? For how long? 2. What did you do to kick start the weight loss? 3. Have you settled for a year loss and quit? 4. What have you done right? 5. What would you change? 6. This is my greatest fear...have you gone back to old eating habits after the new of the band life wore off? Regain your weight? Thank you, Househuntress

Hey All, I'm still struggling with not losing but 5 lbs in 3 months. I think the main problem is..when I eat anything *hard* two bites and it lodges or comes back up..then I wait and am very hungry so I eat soft foods. Well those go right down...it's crappy food. I found this link...I think it's great so I brought it back for some that might be in the same boat I am. www.5daypouchtest.com -

I takes strength, lots of strength to over come what you ladies have. I admire you greatly. Family and friends will be there for you/her when it's needed. Also..please remember that most cities/towns have a woman's shelter and counseling whenever it's needed. If he threatens her, she can go there, if he does harm her in anyway...the STATE will prosecute HIM..she won't have to (at least in Texas that's the way) Any church/hospital/clinic can give you the name of a shelter, attorney and or counselor that will help...most times free. Hugs and prayers to those that have come through the fire and those that are starting the battle. Women have the strength of 10 men when it comes to protecting their babies. Use that strength to protect you and yours. -

Thanks to all that have answered and especially Kat. I need step by step instructions.*G* I've never had it explained to me. My doctor is always in a hurry and just tells me to take tiny bites! Well crap I know that but why??? I've never heard of the first bite syndrome...it makes sense because that's exactly what happens. Thanks again...I will start working on that my next meal. -

I'm having a really hard time losing now. I haven't lost any weight since Nov. 07. Two lbs up Two lbs down. I haven't GAINED any weight but haven't lost anything either. My clothes fit the same but my body is *shifting?* maybe firming up some. All I know is...I HATE this:mad::smile:. I'm pretty tight, sometimes I can eat a fair amount and others it comes back. I know I'm not drinking all the protein drinks like I use to because frankly...I almost barffff from the smell. Most meats get stuck but cream soup, potatoes and all the higher fat things slide down really easy. I still don't eat the volumn but the choices aren't meat, veggies since that gets stuck unless I drink something hot....and then it still gets stuck. My doctor said to stop eating at the first sign that I'm full. Sometimes that would be one bite before I can't eat anymore. I thought I might be too tight but went back and he did a fluro and said no I have plenty of room. Sooooo.......... I need some help from you all that have conquered this thing. -

Just peeked in to see what you all were doing. What in the heck is a body bugg? Rather pissed at myself..I've only lost 2 lbs since November. Loose one gain one..the good thing is that I would have gained 7lbs during the holidays. I think I'm eating crap...one tiny bite at a time. I am moving more, walk instead of ride, park further out, etc. But am really pissed at myself for not loosing like I did in the past. O.K. that's my confession. -

Hey All, I've been busy and happy these months. I think about all of you and today I decided to jump back in to see the shrinking violets!! You all have been doing WONDERFUL:clap2::clap2::clap2: I haven't lost much like before..but now I stay the same instead of gain at CHRISTMAS no less!! My band is wonderful! I'm on the protein, veggies and good carbs instead of biting all those bits of fattening foods. I really want to be close to 100 lbs lost by April 9th, 2008 my one year anniversary. O.K. back to work. Good luck in the new year!! -

I'm having port pain..like muscle pain..when I bend over or lift. I can't think of anything I've done to strain it. When I first noticed it was after eating quite a bit. I was really hungry (I saw my lap band doctor yesterday..didn't get a fill..everything was fine but I didn't eat more than a cup a soup all day) when I ate dinner. I ate a steak salad..almost all of it. That's when my port area started hurting. Now today it's worse when I laugh, lift or bend. This is weird..anyone ever have something like this and what did you do to make it quit hurting? -

I finally got back on to say HI and try to catch up. My computer has been in the shop and when I used my lap top..I couldn't access this site...WHAT the FUNT? Anyway, You all look beautiful. I'm happier than I can remember, still having to get my head around eating in some situations though. My mini problems still are eating too fast, talking when I eat and letting stress during eating make me eat too much. Since my last fill in Sept. I can't eat much and usually PB at least 4 times a week...which is a LOT compared to NONE before. Sometimes I PB every meal for a day then have a good day and can eat without problems. Do any of you have the same problem? Anyway Hi to All!!!!:clap2::clap2: -

:clap2:Hello All, I just got back from a Girl Friends Trip!! Soooo much fun. We went driving in Conneticut, stayed in beautiful Inns and just relaxed and enjoyed NOT taking care of anyone, not working!! I don't have time to read all of the posts I missed but I did catch a few...so hugs and prayers to those that want them. Ohh and I lost 4 lbs on vacation and didn't suffer at ALL... I LOVE MY BAND:whoo::whoo: -
I usually have a fill around 2pm..Dr. says have a Protein shake after fills and nothing else other than soup, until the next morning. Also..he says the REASON for PB'ing is eating too fast and taking too big of bites. His rule is no bite bigger than a nickle..now let me tell you this..when I started slowing down and taking the small bites; I haven't had a problem. I thought I was too tight from my last fill and after a fluro, he told me the (pointing up) above information. I haven't had a problem since..Try it.

How is weight loss for people over 50?
househuntress replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Found it! This is the latest TABLET prep for a colonoscopy. Lots of tablets to take, I think that's why one Dr. said it will take 3 days of prep for lap band patients. It NEEDS to be done though. Anyone after 50...Take care of yourself!!! -

I was told that since I have the band..I have to have a prep for 3 days because we can't drink as much and will get dehydrated. I haven't asked my band doctor about it since he's 2 1/2 hours away from me and I couldn't *drive home* after. So...anyone have the colonoscopy AFTER being banded? -

Hope that wasn't too loud for the Violets that were still sleeping. ...I'm finding out what toooooo tight might be. For the first time in 5 months, I can't eat much of anything. Even my protein shake with a banana in it..takes only two drinks before I feel that bubble feeling of being too full. I've PB'd almost every meal and in between. I'm just HUNGRY since I can't eat much and I keep trying and PB'ING. I know that's the worst thing to do since it irritates the esophagus. I'm going to try this for a few more days and if it doesn't loosen up a little I'm going back to be deflated a bit. Anyone have the problem and it loosen? Good news is that I lost 9lbs last month without the tooo tight fill. I'm working the band baby!!! Great Success to All the Violets!
