Hi Susan. My name is Jenai. I hope you don't mind me sending you a visitor message. I was banded in May 2009 and am a type 2 diabetic. I have not had much luck with weight loss yet. Mostly my fault. I have not been very good at avoiding simple sugars. I do exercise. I am 47 years of age. I wanted to ask your advice as you have been very successful with your band journey. Have you been able to reduce the blood pressure meds? Have you been able to reduce the insulin? I am on 2 blood pressure meds, also am on levimir and novalog. I started my journey at 260 and lost down to 218 and am back up to 230. I am concerned that the amount of insulin I take will prevent the weight loss. I think I am the only bandster that will gain weight instead of lose it. lol. Thank you for any advice you might be willing to offer. Jenai

Hello. I did not end up going through OHSU. The surgery coordinator really put me off. I went to the orientation at Good Sam and OHSU and then finially at Southwestern Washington Medical Center in Vancouver. Southwest was my favorite center of excellence. I cannot say enough good things about the group in Vancouver. I just had my surgery on 5/22. Had my first post op followup with my surgeon today. Best of luck to you and I hope OHSU treats you well.
