Help me my new friends/ I scared

hi there, I was banded on december 5..I'm feeling good! I'm eating solids now and even though I lost about 20 on the preop diet, I've been holding pretty steady since then. I'm trying to be logical about that and patient for my fill date (1/13)...then I'll really start to see results. Also, I haven't been brave enough to go back to the gym yet...but my kids go back to school on monday and I guess that will be my cue to start moving my butt... you'll be fine! I was outpatient. in at 7 out by 2...slept away the weekend (surg was on friday) and then drove my kids to school on monday morning. (though I did come back home and crawl into bed for a few days)...but I drove and made dinner and gave baths and changed diapers....life as usual! good luck..the toughest part is deciding to do it..after that, I think our bands will be our best friends. good luck! Heya! Glad to know your doing ok with your surgery. I am sure that hunger will come back soon but really that is the whole reason for having the band is to help control our hunger. LOL It's great to meet another person who was banded the same day as I was. Best of luck and keep in touch!

You and I were banded on the same day but your weather was probably about 50 degrees warmer and about 2000 miles away from me in central canada.
I look a lot more banged up than you. I have a huge purple bruise! I'm feeling ok, but not great. Been very headachy and having trouble taking deep breaths. But the clinic was very good and everyone cared very much about my wellbeing, so in that regard I'm pleased. I sure haven't had much of an appetite since this all began, but I hope I can get a handle on it quickly and easily and begin losing my 90 lbs to goal....

Hi! Like Pete, my surgery is on Friday (dec 5). I've been on an opti-fast liquid pre-op diet for nearly two weeks now and have lost 19.4 lbs. I'm really thrilled about that. I was given a strict diet of 3 shakes a day, plus up to 2 cups of raw or cooked veggies per day plus SF gum and lots of water (crystal light). I ate the veggies for the first 8 days, but then I had a bout of heartburn (at least I thought it was heartburn. I've never had it before, but I didn't like it). So I gave up eating anything after day 8. But not a single cheat, not a bite of food in 13 days. If I had known I had that kind of willpower before, maybe I wouldn't have ever gotten myself into this situation! Well, now nearly 20 lbs down before surgery, I'm well on my way to my goal, which is looking fab and feeling even better than that on my 40th birthday in Aug/09. I hope all you December bandsters do well and feel good and find great success! AJ -

I can relate! I"ve had my date for a few weeks, dec 5. since then I've eaten everything I could get my hands on. Tomorrow I start the liquid diet for two weeks. I'm scared to death that I'm not going to do it, but everyone I've spoken to has done it. I just need to have the confidence in me. If I can make it thru the first weekend, I think I'll be ok...but 14 days with no food sounds pretty damn scary to me! I can not wait for the surg day to come. dec. 5, here I come! good luck to you all! A -

Hi Joann, I'm turning 40 in August and by then, so many months after my surgery, I'm hoping that life will be starting all over again. furture bright..and all that stuff. Winnipeg, Manitoba is honoured with the distinction of being the coldest major Canadian city...lucky us. This past sunday, the kids and i were playing outside in the field across the street from our house and it was gorgeous. They threw off their fleecies and had a blast. Then this morning, we woke up to about 3 inches of snow on the ground. That's probably the last time we'll see the ground until April or May. I'm still thinking about a name for the december bandsters....Winter Wonders, perhaps? My name is, Aviva -

Hi Laurie, From what I've learned, the liquid fast diet isn't a steadfast rule prior to lap band. In my case, it is. I begin a two week liquid diet on Nov 21st and the surgery is scheduled for dec 5. I'm surprised that you haven't been told about it at all, or any prep at all.....maybe put a call in and inquire. If they say, just show up on Surgery day, make sure you know if there's any pre op prep to be done! Best of luck! Aviva -

I just booked my lap band surgery this week. It's dec. 5th and I start the opti fast on Nov 21. I'm more nervous about that than the actual surgery. I wonder how many lbs. I will lose before the surgery date. I'm so excited and ready to move to this new stage in life. Good luck to all.. a -
