Pinkbetty25 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I am sure this has been mentioned on this board, but I'd like to know the difference between the two? Is the one procedure better than VSG? Thank you and happy Friday! Wishing to be thin soon, Pinkbetty -

How do we all know this will REALLY work?
Pinkbetty25 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello! I am hell-bent on getting this surgery. My friends and mother think I am insane. EVERYONE has basically told me I will fail. If I couldn't diet properly in the FIRST place, what makes me think surgery will be any better? I know this is a TOOL to help you eat correctly, and that slider foods and empty calories are bad. But didn't we all know this prior to even thinking about surgery? Then I just read in another post that 50 percent of weight loss surgery people fail. I mean, I'm sure if I lived on the South Beach diet for the rest of my life, I'd lose weight and would stay there. But that is just not realistic. I hope this post makes sense. I just keeping hearing over and over that I'll fail. I know I need to change my eating habits. But what if the old habits die hard, ya know? Mom's theory is, " well, surgery is just eating less, right? So, just diet and eat less!" I just am afraid I'll be on this board in 5, 10 , 20 yrs (since this surgery is SO new) saying how I failed AFTER surgery. And yes, am totally in everyone's same boat. Can diet fine, but I regain the weight, and end up gaining MORE. Especially after my baby was born. Yikesers! -

Wow, love it!!! And yes, I have to have my wine once and a while.. Err, Ok, like a couple times a week. You guys have made me feel SO much better. Txn- no, my friends are all range from about size 0 to size 4. They're all thin and work out every day. Mom was thin as well but ate NOTHING to maintain... She's now a little heavier, but she's older. Yeah, just gotta scrimp and save and pay for this puppy! Thanks again! -

Hi, Just HAD to share.. Since NONE of my friends would ever understand how NOT cool this is. I guess I just don't think it's funny. Fat is literally the LAST thing you can make fun of!! Here's a pic my friend posted on Facebook that everyone thinks is hilarious... Just had to rant...

Self- Pay Insurance- does that cover WLS at all?
Pinkbetty25 posted a topic in Insurance & Financing
Hi! Just wondering, since I work for a small company that does not provide health insurance, I have to purchase it on my own. Does anyone know if self-pay insurance actually covers WLS? Seems like it's all company sponsored insurance that covers it. Thanks!! -

Hi, I also agree; surgery in Mexico can run anywhere from $4999 (I saw a special today) to $8700. I know many places offer financing. Could be a good bet for you.

PCP or surgeon in LA/ San Fernando Valley area for follow-up??
Pinkbetty25 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi! I am dead set on having my surgery in Mexico, but want to get all of my ducks in a row before going. IN CASE something goes wrong, does anyone know of a good bariatric surgeon or even PCP in the SF Valley area or LA area? I just want someone who knows what they're doing IN CASE some catastrophe happens. Thanks!! -
I feel like being thin will solve ALL of life's problems.. Which just isn't the case.
Pinkbetty25 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi all, So, I am wondering if anyone out there feels like I do... As long as I can remember, I've always wanted to be thinner. When I weighed 140, I'd obsess that I needed to be 120.... Someone actually called me out on this yesterday: I feel like once I am thin, all of my problems will go away. If someone is rude to me, etc, I can tell them off (now I just say nothing and pray they don't comment at me. LA is a rude town in general). I'm getting out of a HORRIBLE relationship, and feel I'll now find that prince charming since I'll be attractive. Or get the job I REALLY want... I feel like once I'm thin, rainbows and unicorns will fall from the sky and dance around me. Figuratively speaking, of course. BUT, in reality, I'll STILL be me... Life will still have its difficult moments, etc. I just hope I'm not setting myself up for some HUGE disappointment since my expectations are out of whack. Does anyone else ever feel like this? I hope this makes sense? -

You are all so DEAD ON! I love this board! Like someone else had said, you guys are all worth your pre-surgery weight in gold! (I did hear about that 20/20 by the way. It's sad, but true.) -

Thank you all SOOO much. This board is great, and you've all been wonderful. Thinoneday- you are adorable! You made my whole day. I totally smiled when I read your reply. All of everyone's input has been super helpful. And I totally feel you on the "now what" blackberry. My best friend is probably about 100 pounds, she passed the CA Bar, is an attorney, she drives her red audi that she always wanted, married the guy she'd always wanted... She looks like Barbie... And she has "now what" moments every day because she has accomplished everything. So, yeah, it is kind of a mind trip. I hope you're all having a fabulous week. :thumbup1: -
Long, long term effects of VSG? YEARS down the road...
Pinkbetty25 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello! I am going to have surgery, however, I have read it is still deemed as "experimental". How do we know if this will be a safe solution for us years down the road? Yes, everyone loves their sleeve now, since it is brand new. What if the staples come apart? What if you develop stomach cancer and have too little of a stomach to do anything with? What if your stomach expands in a couple of years due to old habits creeping back? Sorry to ask so many questions- I'm just trying to find out what I can, considering there are no long term studies on VSG. Thanks!! -

Thank you! I had noticed some other postings from you about ulcers and whatnot, and all the research you've done. Puts my mind more at ease. I was looking through everyone's photo album and notice yours has an invalid link? I was curious to see your journey. I can only see the SKINNY you now on your profile pic! -
