  14. The heating pad is suggested for the shoulder pain only, not the tummy. Should have clarified that, thanks for your input. the list is meant as suggestions only, obviously people should follow their docs instructions first.

    Surgery day

My lapband in place, stomach stitched around the band.
  19. I was banded on Dec 23rd at a local Medical Center by Dr Smith of Pueblo Colorado. It was a perfect day in many ways. My close friend drove me to surgery at 6.30am and hung out with me as i went through pre=op prep, We had a real giggle with the nurses and anethesiologist. Doc was running a little late, surgery was scheduled for 8.30 and I didn't get in till 10am (the previous procedure ran longer than expected). But I was cozy warm in my blankets, footies and leg warmers. The anesthesiologist came in to give me my sedative, and i barely remember being taken to the OR, then next thing i knew i was sitting up in recovery asking what time it was. It was 1pm. I had a room with a view, and it had snowed a good 4 inches during my time there. My friend came into visit with me as i recovered, and i had onep ain med shot, which made me so loopy, it was highly entertaining for everyone. I was home by 3pm, same day, and still a little loopy on the pain meds, so i slept on and off the rest of the afternoon. My daughter (5 yr old) was waiting at home to greet me, with grandma. She was so relieved to see me, she kissed all my incision sites and gave me a tender hug. That made the day perfect all over again. I am now 1 week post-op, had zero pain since surgery day, other than being a little tender at the port, but that has gone away. No hunger yet, but have progressed to full liquids - and i am enjoying FLAVOR in my mouth. I have lost 5 lbs since surgery too, which surprised me a little after a lot of the stories on here about not losing right after surgery. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful story to tell, and hope this encourages others to move ahead with surgery without fear. God Bless. Nicci:thumbup:
