Am I the "Only One"??? HELP

Thank all of you for your responses. I have made an appointment to see the doctor for a "fill" or "unfill" I did not realize that being too tight could lead to over eating the wrong stuff. I haven't been back for a fill because I thought too much restirction was better than none. I will keep you guys posted. Thanks again for the advice
  3. I was banded in April 2006, but to date I have only lost 30 lbs. My last fill was June '06 and restriction is NOT a problem. I don't seem to be able to get a handle on "good" foods. I get severe blockage on healthy stuff but chips, and other junk goes down just fine. In my head I know I should be following a better eating plan, but it is so furstrating. Should I go back to my surgeon andhave him take another look? Maybe my band is "broken". Before the lap band I tried everything to stick to a healthy regimen and could not. Perhaps I put too much stock in what the band could do. The surgery was self pay so you would think I could pull it together with all of the money I shelled out. I am feeling so helpless and hopeless. Any suggestions would be welcome!!
  4. I was banded on April 7, 2006. Had my first fill mid May--nothing --no restirction. Had my 2nd fill in mid June and boy could I tell a difference!! My problem is now I have trouble keeping anything down if it is not soup, liquids, Wendy's chili or stuff that's crunchy (crackers. toast, etc). I believe that I have an overfill (2.5 in a 10 band) but I am reluctant to have any removed for fear that I will go back to no restriction at all. I have lost 31lbs to date but feel it should be more. I don't want to damge anything by having a "too full band". Anyone else with this problem??

    Lap Band Basics

Could someone (or as many as want to) please outline the "Lap Band Basics"?? I am 6 wks post op and have lost 22 lbs but feel I should have lost more. I have had two fills and have REAL RESTRICTION now when I had none before. I just want to check with some of you veteran bandsters for advice

    Restriction after fill?

I was banded on April 7th and had my first fill on May4th. I didn't have any restriction before the fill and I don't have any restriction now. It is really frustrating because I am working on shear will. I have lost 20lbs so far but based on my start weight I thought it would be more. I have scheduled the next fill for June 2nd. By the way Dr. Spivak is my surgeon too. I have not asked to see him but did have a nice chat during the fill. I am self pay and the office told me if was not really necessary to see him unless I am having as problem. So don't feel like you are being given the run around because you are not self pay. Must just be policy. I sure will be happy to see what everyone talks about in not being able to eat cvertain food! By the way what is PBing???

    Safe Liquids

I am in the mushy/liquid phase of my eating. I have been drinking Medifast 3 to 4 times daily. I notice that some banders are drinking Ensure. What about Slim Fast? Is this a good choice. If anyone has any comments I would like to hear from you

    Newbie Bandster!

Hello All I am a 50+ traveling woman who has tried every diet available. My work sometimes has me in 5 states in 5 days so it was hard to stay on a specific regimen. I hope the band (done in Houston by Dr. Spivak) will get me in tune with what my body really needs to live. I love to eat so I am prepared for a challenging journey

    Newbie Bandster!

I was banded Friday 4/7 . Yesterday my throat was so sore I could barely swallow. I kmow that was from the tube in my throat. But today I'm having trouble with all this phlegm in my throat and everytime I try to cough it feels like my insides are breaking!! Any body familiar with these feelings? Any solution to the "mucussy" throat?
  12. I have noticed that for some the liquid stage is two weeks, for some 24-48 hours with mushies added in moderation. My Dr. allows applesauce and jello in the liquid phase. What kind of luck have any of you had (or no luck) with moving past clear broth, water and liquids after 48-72 hrs?

    April Bander

Sometimes we can listen to so much negative talk we get nervous about our own situations. Just trust your surgeon and listen to your body. Some doctors fill the band at the initial banding and some do not. Mine did not and I am not going to start second guessing anything until I've gotten through the first 6 weeks at least.

I am not so much hungry as just can't seem to find anything that is satisfying. Anyone have any suggestions about the liquid/soft foods stages

I was banded yesterday, so I am still in the sore stage. Glad to hear from others about how they felt after the first few days
