took me one month to do all my appointments pre approval. got the approval in like 2 days from my insurance. Then they scheduled me the first week in May, and my surgery is July 8th. so about 3 months and 1 week from the very first appointment I had with the Dr.

Hey guys, just wanted to tell you how excited i am! Today i started taking my Iron supplements. Its exactly 3 weeks before surgery. Next Wednesday i start my two week liquid diet before surgery. I already bought all my liquid stuff and im ready to rock and roll!! wish me luck on keeping up with all my pre op requirements!!!

OK so my one on one with my surgeon is in about 5 hours. I am having issues trying to figure out what I need to remember to ask. what are some questions that you have, or had? any suggestions on what I should ask?

Thanks for your help!!!! kepp them coming because my surgeon had to reschedule due to an emergency surgery. so now I have until tomorrow at 3:30 pm thanks!

ok guys, just did it and thought I would document it while its fresh in my mind. couldnt eat or drink ANYTHING (that means not even water) after midnight. got there and they made me keep my clothes on but go take my bra off. I did my chest X-Rays which was just standing facing a board and then next to the board sideways with my arms in the air. Then I had to drink a carbonated sip of liquid. it seemed like they had a shot of water and then poured pop rocks in it and mixed it up. He told me I had to take a sip and i would feel like I needed to burp, but dont! I had to swallow the air back down, then he made me lay on my stomach (which was horrible since the gas was just sitting in my stomach and now I was laying on it.) then they set up the machine. after that he put the barrium drink in front of me with a straw in it. I guess I was drinking too fast cause I started gagging and almost threw up. He said to drink it slower and let the fizzy drink settle. i drank a couple more sips. It really didnt taste that bad, the worse thing was the fizzy stuff and the tecture of the barrium. after I drank what he thought was enough I had to roll around in different positions on the table (on back, on stomach, on sides, half way on sides arms up arms down) After that I was done, i sat in the waiting room until they confirmed that all my films were perfect and I could be on my merry way. SUrgeons office said the blood is in and they are sending it to my Dr. and the xrays will be sent to my Dr tomorrow. Tomorrow I meet with the surgeon to ask any last minute questions and I guess talk to her about what she expects from me. My last appointment is on Monday with my primary Dr. I will get an EKG and he will go over everything and give me my medical clearance (or god for bid he wont) So by next week I will know if Im all healthy and ready, or if I have anything I need to work on before then. thanks for reading, i wanted to try and kepp you guys up to date on what to expect.

Hey guys, havent been on in awhile and wanted to chat with everyone. My surgery is now only less than 5 weeks away! Got the call from the surgeons office today, scheduled bloodwork for tomorrow, upper GI and chest Xrays for next tuesday, Surgeon one on one next wednesday! Next wednesday will be exactly 4 weeks before surgery. You guys are gunna laugh but I have been scared to DEATH that i am going to get pregnant before my surgery. Just started my TOM and was bouncing off the walls happy for it! hahaha. I only have one more month to get through and hopefully i dont get pregnant. My grandmother said "Lauren, you do know how you get pregnant right? it shouldnt be that hard to stop it." Im in Orange County, im here for you if you need me!!!! So exciting, and im really really excited that our surgeries are only 1 day apart. Ive already waited a month, I scheduled this surgery the first week in May. the time will DEFINITELY fly by!

no, because then id have to postpone the surgery! I dont mind getting pregnant after, but before would be an issue.

Hey, i really want a bike for my Bday, its only one month after my surgery date. I want a good strong bike, there are some bikes ive tried to ride recently like beach cruisers. they feel like they are going to break cause im so heavy. I was wondering if anyone has any type of bike that rides good even at such a heavy weight? if not, anyone who is smaller than me that has a bike so I know where i need to be to get a bike I want? thanks guys!

awesome guys thanks! it just sucks cause I dont have a lot of cash to spend. i hate that i cant just go to target or walmart to buy a bike to serve its purpose, ya know? thank you though i will look into it!

1. buy a season pass for Disneyland, knotts, and magic mountain and ride all the rides i have missed in the last 8 years. 2. cross my legs 3. Go shopping with my friends and actually buy clothes at the same stores 4. wear heals almost everyday 5. run the 5k instead of walking it 6. go to a water park for the first time since I was like 10 8. wear just my bathingsuit in havasu instead of covering myself up. 9. wear dresses without leggings 10. wear my husbands tshirts to bed cause they are too big and they are comfy 11. sit on my husbands lap more often.

i dont think you will have any problems. they are just trying to shrink your liver before they get in there to do the surgery. THat is a very small amount of food and I really do think that you should be fine. even if you dont lose the 10% if you follow that plan you will be down enough to make the difference they want.

My surgery is July 8th!!!!! whooohooo. you know whats funny, 8 and 7 are my numbers! my bday is 8/7/87 i was born at 7:08 am! haha so it makes sense that my surgery is 7/8 lol anyway, im sooo excited and the countdown is here!

My surrgery was approved on Friday, my surgery will either be the 2nd or 3rd week in June. I should be getting a call from the surgeons office next week to finalize the date! yay go us! oh yea, im in Huntington Beach, CA

I have an amazing surgeons office, my primary Dr told me that people travel from all over the world to have Dr. Leport as their Dr. I am actually going to have Dr. Kelly Francis do my lapband, she was the first one under Dr. Leports supervision that started doing Lapbands. she is awesome. ANyway, her surgeries are about 6 weeks out right now. SO if I schedule it next week sometime I will probably be doing it from mid to late June. Im cool with that though cause I dont have that much vacation time accrued so by then I will have more and wont be missing out on any time.

So my surgeon submitted the letter on Wednesday, and I was approved today! im sooo flippin excited! I will get a call next week to schedule my appointment. Yay for me!

i have pacificare HMO, but the medical network is Adoc-Fountain Valley. they are the ones that made all the decisions and moved so fast! i love them. soooo exciting!

Congratulations!!!! How exciting! what insurance do you have? when did they put in the request for approval? I did my nutrition class today and have my Dr. talk on MOnday. after monday they will write my letter of medical necessity and then I will be waiting on my approval!!!

Hey guys, i have my Psych evaluation tomorrow. i dont know what they are looking for to rule me out! What are the good and bad things to say? im nervous!

So i was told I wont see the actual surgeon until i am approved for surgery. But this friday I have my 1st class/orientation, and I was wondering what to expect? the office coordinator told me it will be about 2 1/2 hours. Im going to the office of Dr. Peter Leport and SMart Dimensions.
