  1. Congratulations, Tammy. You are inspiring! I was also banded in November 2008, and have similar feelings as you. I feel so blessed that I was able to have the surgery and that I have had no complications to speak of. I feel so much better, physically and mentally. I have lost almost 70 lbs. and am still working to reach my goal weight. Thank you for sharing your success. Blessings!
  2. Congrats on your surgery. Dr. Cywes did the surgery for me, and I am not having any problems either. I was banded on Nov. 13th. I really did not have an appetite until Monday, the 17th. Really had to make myself do the protein drinks. I am excited and can't wait to do my one week follow-up tomorrow. Continued best wishes!
  3. I was banded on Nov. 13th--one week anniversary tommorrow! I still can't believe I did it, but I am so glad I made the choice to take control of my health. I have been blessed not to have any real problems. I was sore for the first few days, but nothing unbearable. Also, I really did not have much of an appetite for the first five days, and am honestly having to make myself take in at least two protein drinks per day. I am almost moving into the mushies stage, so I am researching tasty, filling options now. I am struggling to make myself take in all of the water (64 oz. per day). I think this is because of the uncomfortable gas pains I got when I swallowed the first couple of days. That subsided quickly, but it made me a little leary of drinking. I love reading posts to this website and have found it a wonderful resource. Keep on sharing as we continue our lap band journey! I will too!
  4. Good luck to you! I also had my surgery on Thursday. I was banded at 10:30. For the most part, I am fine. Just a little sore, and just as you dealing with the gas pains. "No pain, no gain". Wouldn't take nothing for the changes that are happening. I lost almost 20 lbs. following the presurgery diet, and am looking forward to losing the rest. God Bless you on your journey!
  5. Hello fellow bandster, I was banded in Jacksonville, Florida on Thursday, Nov. 13. I am doing pretty well. I am sore a little, and don't have any appetite. It's hard to swallow water due to gas pains, and I am regaining my energy. But I am so glad I made these steps to improve my health. Blessings on your path to wellness.
  6. Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I am having my surgery today at 10:30. I am excited about the changes that will occur, but also a little anxious and edgy about potential side effects. I appreciate hearing your positive experience and also your encouraging words.
  7. Crystal, We have the same surgery date. I feel mixed emotions about the surgery , as well. However, I know that this is the right decision for me, and so I pray for covering, protection and commitment to be successful with my choice. D.
  8. Thanks for responding. I feel the same way you do. I know from this wonderful website and the posts I've read that it's not easy, but the prospect of having my surgery does restore my hope and I has really motivated me. Sometimes we just need a boost. God Bless!
  9. Hello All, I am so excited to have discovered this website. It is an amazing source of information and resources. I first explored the site yesterday, and I stayed on it for a few hours into the middle of the night. Many of my questions have been answered, but most importantly, I have read about things I need to consider in my post-operative phase. I am scheduled to have surgery on November 13. I am still on a high from receiving the news that my insurer would cover my surgery. It is a blessing, and something I have hoped for a while now. I had to undergo 6 months of counseling, and I completed that in September. Now, finally, I only have a couple of weeks to go. I can tell from what I've read from others that this journey--to wellbeing--won't be easy. But, I know that I am committed and that I have the support of my husband and children. I also will hopefully have the support of the many bandsters that use this site. God Bless! Dana:smile:
