Okay, this is how pathetic I am. After all this talk about meat, I was making steak and fixins for my kiddos and warming up my egg drop soup. I pick up some meat/fat drippings, sucked the flavor out and spit it in the sink! I will now do the walk of shame.........................

Mvpo, Enjoy that pork chop and salad! If you feel deprived, just think of those of us who have been on liquids for 3 or 4 weeks. We'd WRESTLE you for that piece of meat if we could get it past our band w/out excrutiating pain. lol. Enjoy while you can, and it will help ease you into your new lifestyle. I will assure you that once the band is in place that it is easier to resist. My little helper - "Buddy Band". lol.

Wow! What a list. Thanks for doing that. Actually, I was May 1st bright and early, but what's a day? I'm just glad it's DONE! You'll be up before you know it!

Hi Deb, I lost 10 pounds prebanding and I don't really know how many since. My scale isn't accurate, so I'm waiting until my postop visit w/ the Dr. I know the scale is moving downward, though. I will be glad when the swelling is down. Don't be nervous. After the first week you'll be so glad you did it. You'll have a new tool to help you control what has been controlling you! Good luck! We can do this!

Hey TIDGE, You'll turn the corner soon and feel better. I was banded on the 1st and after a few days I started feeling glum also. I am on the upswing now. Hang in there. Relief comes in a day or two!!!!!

Hi meedym We do have about the same stats. I'm a little over 5'5. I've always said 5'6'', but recently found out otherwise. lol. Reality hurts. I'm one week post band. I lost about 10 pounds on the preop diet and am still going downward! I don't feel quite ready to exercise, but I'm looking forward to it. I also run my own business. This weight has been the one obstacle in my life that I can't seem to overcome. There's no stopping me now! Watch out world!

Thanks for posting the list! Now I can keep it straight who to pray for this week! Tomorrow will mark one week for me as well. I'm getting better and stronger each day. I still need to take in more calories and protein, but I'm working at it! Go May Bandsters!

Welcome to the banded world Angie! Woooohoooooo!

Just about 3 minutes in warm water.

I have to take a capsule medication everyday. The last couple of days I've poured it into a tablespoon of applesauce. Today I got brave. I soaked it in warm water for a few minutes to start to disolve the gel casing, and then I downed it with trepidatation.......................It went down w/ no problems!:clap2: Just thought I'd let you know my experience unless anyone else has to take medication. Good luck Bandsters!

Yep, I used an old fashion ice cube tray, but I do have the forms. You could probably get them at the dollar store. I know tupperware makes them. We'll see how they do!

Sleepy Jean, I was banded on the 1st and I'm having the same problem you are having. It's difficult to get almost anything down. I sip here and there and maybe eat a popsicle, but that's it! How, oh how, to get the protein in??????? I made protein ice cubes today. I'll try licking on those and see if that helps. I feel weak and tired, though. We need to keep trying. I think I am going to start tracking it on fitday.com to see what I'm truly consuming. It can't be much - but that will help me set a goal as to what I should be getting in. Hang in there. We'll make it!

LindaV, we got banded on the same day. You seem to be doing GREAT! I started out okay, but I think I pushed it too hard on Tuesday and Wednesday. I had to drive b/c I am a single mom and don't have to luxury of being "out of commission". I have rested a lot, though. However, for the last couple of days I feel so nausiated. It's a horrible feeling when my mouth starts watering up and I feel the pressure around my band area. I am terrified to vomit, so I fight it, but it is an awful feeling. As a consequence, I haven't eating much at all. I can't seem to get the protein down. What are you eating - those of you that have been banded - and do you feel sick sometimes? I thought I would bounce back faster and am getting a little frustrated! :help:

Hi fellow May bandsters! This week has been a little rough, but managable. My main problem was that I had to teach some classes on Tuesday and Wednesday night. I over-did it for sure! Today I was EXHAUSTED and wiped out. I slept the day away. I have had some pain, but have been in my bed from the first night, sleeping well. I have had trouble getting much down, though, and I think I am weak from not getting enough protein in. When I try to drink a protein drink, I feel like I am going to throw up and that terrifies me! I did manage to get some cream of chicken soup down tonight. I still haven't been hungry, but when I bought my kids some burgers tonight, they did smell mighty good. I've just been sipping clear liquids and eating a bit of jello. Tomorrow I'll try harder to get some protein in. I think that will help. I'm looking forward to the weekend when I can get some real rest. I don't regret this a bit. I'm looking forward to the results! Congrats to those who were banded in the last couple of days. Hang in there. We'll get through this together! I am VERY bruised, and that alarmed me a bit. Then, I looked at the scar thread and saw that some others had bruising as well. Mine just looks so nasty! I guess this too will pass. Best wishes to all who are up next! Please keep us informed of your progress! :clap2:

Thanks for the encouragement, guys. I'm praying for those getting banded today. I thought you'd want to know that I'm really not hungry. I remember before surgery that I could literally hear my stomach growling and that I was starving, but since surgery I've been sipping on gatorade and a little broth here and there and that satisfies. It sure would be nice if this kept up! I'm sure I'll feel some hunger when the swelling goes down, but it makes the soreness worth it! Just think................a life free from being controlled by food and thoughts about weight. True freedom to enjoy life! Yeah! I'm so ready for this! Get excited May Bandsters. We are going to do GREAT! I'm moving around as much as possible trying to get rid of the gas. That's a tough one for me b/c I'm quite ladylike and it doesn't come easy, if you know what I mean. I remember the gas pain after my c-sections, though and I don't want to go there again! So, day two and I'm still doing alright. You guys can do this! I'm kind of a tough girl, not a real baby, but there are so many things worse than this. And, look at the rewards that are just around the corner! Let's get excited and do what we need to do! Hi gang, I just wanted to give a report of my banding experience. I really craved reading all the April bandster reports. It helped me know what to expect. So, I wanted to share with you all. I was banded May the 1st. I arrived at the Surgery Center of Richardson at 7:30 am, handed over a cashiers check for $15,00 (OUCH), filled out some paperwork and then changed into my pretty gown, booties and cap. The nurses were great and informative. I got my IV and waited calmy for my turn. I read a magazine and felt pretty relaxed about the whole thing. I had resolved in my mind to do this thing, and just looked forward to having it over. The various doctors came in to say hello. I was given my "happy juice" into my IV and don't remember much after that! The next thing I knew, I heard the nurse, say, "It's all done ...........you are back". I slept for awhile, but when I came to I was VERY THIRSTY! I mumbled, "What do I need to do to get some ice chips or Water?" She told me that I had to wake up, drink a barium swallow for xray, and then I could drink something. That motivated me, so I said, 'LETS DO IT'! I got up, walked down the hall for the xray, then went to another room where I sat up and enjoyed my sips of water. My friend was called to come pick me up. I think it was around 11:30 by this time. All I had to do next was go pee and then I would be released! Compared to my three c-sections, this was a cake walk! I could NOT go potty no matter what. This was my only problem. My poor friend waited around while I would walk the halls and try again. We listened to the lady nextdoor burping and burping. No bodily sounds for me YET. I wish I could b/c it would relieve some of the gas that I feel building up in my shoulder and back. Anyway, I finally had a cathater put in to drain my bladder, and NOTHING. I confessed that I hadn't had much to drink the day prior to surgery. So, DRINK, DRINK, DRINK! About the time we gave up and the nurse was going to call the doctor, I felt the urge to tinkle. I felt like a kid I was so proud to report success! After that I was briefed and could go home. We picked up meds on the way home and then I rested for the afternoon. I haven't been hungry, but have had a popsicle and some broth b/c I need to have something w/ my pain medicine. I have to do this breathing thing every hour, and walk. I am uncomfortable, and feel some pain, but it is managable. Mostly I just feel like a horse kicked me in the left rib. The port site is the most sore. That's about it from here. My main concern is the next two days. I have some responsibilities that I can not get out of.........I am going to rest all day and then try to do a little work. Just wanted to report back and let you know that YOU CAN DO THIS! Let the transformation begin! :clap2: Good Luck May Bandsters! Please pray for a speedy recovery for me. I really don't have the luxury of down time.

Hi group, I've been lurking for a couple of months and reading up on lapband. This morning I have my surgery. I've done my 2 week liquid preop diet and should be good to go. My main concern is post surgery. I am a single mom of three and have two businesses to run! I'm hoping I'll bounce back very quickly. We shall see. I'm a self pay at about 210, and can't wait to get rid of this excess weight. I just wanted to introduce myself and join the group before I do this thing. I would love support in the days to come. This is a great group! I'll check back in and let you all know how it went. I'll help lead the way for the May bandsters! Please say a prayer for me.
