I agree with restlessmonkey. Doctors are all different. from pre op diet to post op diet. some will give you large fills and some small. it is what works best for their patients. Listen to what people have to say hear but follow you doctors orders. My doctor wants clear liq X2, then 2 days fulls then back on solids after a fill or docs you can get that night. By doc is more the slow goer. I got my 1st fill after 4 month, i just got to 6 months and still no more fills because i am still losing every month. Month 5 i lost 14lbs then month 6 i lost 4. he asked what i thought about getting a fill but he said he thought we should wait. I agreed. it was a slow month but i still lost. or doc would have given me a fill no questioned ask. Go with someone you trust. then trust in the choices. They know what works for patients. Hi, I got my surgery 11/18/2008. My family knows, close friends and 3 coworkers. My starting weight was 287, as of yesterday i am down to 219. so 67lbs. People are seeing a difference. My coworker that does know, never even ask that. they just say i am eating less. and i say yes. which is 100% true. I dont think everyone needs to know. some people will just be a pain.... but if you feel the need to tell them....do it....

Amber, Hi. Sorry to hear about your year. I know how you are feeling. I did about the same thing. I started looking into the lap band about 1 1/2 years ago, started all my stuff. Did my classes and so on. Then changed my mind. After wanting to try again on my own, and not doing well at all. I started looking into getting the band again. Found a new doctor ( which I am very happy with). I was banded on Nov 18. I have lost a total of 36lbs including my pre op to now. I went for my first fill jan 5th, and my doctor said i didnt need it yet because i was doing so well. I was amazed. Very happy I had the surgery. Everything was much better than I thought it would be. It is interesting each day, but exciting. I wish you the best. If you ever want to talk message me. After everything was said and done I am happy I waited. I felt more ready now than before.

That was one of the things my doctor told my husband about after surgery. I could resume sexual activity whenever I felt good enough to. I laughed when my husband told me about it, he said the doctor talked to him about it for a few minutes. I waited about 4 days.. It was fine, just took it slow and easy.

I went for my 1st follow up appt today, I was banded on the 18th. I thought i wouldnt get to have reg foods for 2 more weeks. My doctor told me stay on full liqs for a few more day, then I can start chicken and fish and veggie. HAPPY. He just said stay away from pizza and subs. I told him, right now baked chicken sound amazing. I have lost 25lbs, from my pre-op diet to now. another happy moment. I go back 1-5- 09 for my first fill. It went better than i thought today.

I was banded 11/18, so 12 days post op. I am going to my docs monday, so i am going to ask him too. how many calories were your eating 2 weeks out. I am on full liq for 2 more weeks. I am not getting hungry. Any thought ...

I was band on the 18th. I feel a little bit better very day. I still dont feel any huger. Which is a good thing. Things do go down a little easier each day. I start full liq in the morning,I am a little scared. That makes me laugh a little, scared to eat SF pudding. i never thought i would say that. I am down 5lbs this week, and total of 20lbs from pre op to now. Which i am really happy with, I know I might not lose any more till fills. But anything now is great. I still get a little sad at times, missing food. But it is in my head, I just work through it. I stop and think about how amazing it is going to feel not to have to shop in only plus size stores. I have a long way to go, but this is the first time, I am really believe I am going to lose the weight and keep it off. I want to go on a zip line. Every cruise I go on, stops some where that does zip lines. I have never been able to do it because I am over the weight limit. I am hoping to do it next year. well great job on your lose so far.

Does any take fish oil? I started taking it a few weeks before surgery. I stop day before surgery. I am planning to ask my doctor next week what he thinks. I just wondering, if anyone else took it. The pills are Huge. I am scare it wont go down. I dont want to start taking it now, but i was wondering if i would even be able to in a few months. I was banded on nov 18th.

That what I thought. It was because the gas, but i didnt remember. I guess i will be ok, guess i was hoping i was wrong. I go back to see by doctor dec 1st. I will ask, anyways. It makes sense. Thanks for your responses.

Can I use a straw to drink water. I was banded t 18th. can i use one now, if not now can i later. I just drink more when i use a straw. Have you hurt anything bad about using one??? I know it is silly.

I was self pay. It took about 5 weeks fro seminar to surgery. I had to get pre-op blood work, urinalysis, EKG and psych eval, chest xray. Just getting into see the psych md when made me wait a extra week. All pre work up was included in the price and 1 yr fills. I also did financing their healthcare card. Good interest rate.
