Lap Band Statistics
Cindy C replied to dyingbreed's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
3 years, 145 pounds for a total weight loss percentage of 45. My goal is 162 and 50% (I want to be half the woman I was!) Not for 1 moment have I ever regretted doing this! -
Until all the gas they blew you up with dissipates. Walking helps. I've heard gas x strips help although I never tried them. Chiropractic adjustments helped me. It was probably a couple months before it completely stopped recurring.

I figured the bra is a good place to keep it since there's so much more room in there these days! LOL!

Remember the negative personal trainer?

Good for you! -
I want my first fill!!
Cindy C replied to enchilada72's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
8 weeks. -
I honestly don't like any of the premade ones. I mix a scoop of muscle milk powder (vanilla) in with carnation instant breakfast (chocolate) and skim milk. It tastes like a chocolate malt.

I only took three days of vacation time. Also had high energy job on psych ward.

Is it normal to feel Nauseated???
Cindy C replied to Jonna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go to CVS and get some liquid Emotrol. It's cherry flavored and not only helps the nausea, the flavor helps the nasty taste you get from the liquid diet. -
People Questioning my eating habits.
Cindy C replied to CaraBanded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can be pretty blunt to. My response would be something like "thank you for your concern but I have it under control." -
So you only have a total of 1 cc? I think you really need to talk to your dr. I would stay on liquids until you can get in.
-
You don't say how much is in your band but from what you describe I would guess that you are too tight.

oh no! i swallowed gum
Cindy C replied to Time2BHealthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor says no gum too but he also said that if you were to swallow it and it got stuck all he would really need to do is completely empty the band, let it fall through and put the fluid right back in. -
Difficulty finding TIME to eat!!
Cindy C replied to Lakeshia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really try to avoid eating on the run. That's a good way to get stuck. If I really feel I need something I try to stick with something liquid, protein shakes or just a cup of coffee or iced tea and hope the urge goes away. It usually does. -
Happens to me too after I eat. I asked the lap band nurse about it. She said it was a common side effect. I just keep a kleenex stuffed in my bra!

What can I expect from my first visit
Cindy C replied to capawana's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I filled out paper work with the nurse which took about half an hour. The doctor examined me (if you can even call it that since it lasted less than a minute!) He had me lay on my back and as he pressed down on my abdomen he said "why do you want this?" I said "you're pushing on it!" That was it!!! Had my surgery 26 days later! -
Lapband Coffee Group - Downtown Toronto - Sat. July 16th - 11:00 a.m.
Cindy C replied to Tomander's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I love Toronto. It's about a 3 hour drive from here. I live just down from Sarnia on the US side. I might think about coming but I let my passport expire and would never get back into the states if I went over. Have fun! -
1st Really stuck Episode w/slime
Cindy C replied to NJGirl32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome to the land of the banded! Looks like you're one of us now!!! My first time WAS in a restaurant. Not only a restaurant...a packed restaurant inside of Comerica Park before the start of a Detroit Tigers game! I was with my son on our last "date" before he was to leave for college for the first time. I had only been on solid foods for a couple weeks. It was a hot day and we stood outside for about an hour waiting for them to open the gates. When we got in, I chugged a couple of glasses of ice Water. They brought his food, (I didnt order anything, just planned on taking a couple bites of his) I took a small bite of his burger and that's all it took. The slime and water came out of me like old faithful! Luckily, there were extra napkins on the table and I was able to put them to good use. I ran into the bathroom and had 2 or 3 more episodes. It was most horrible thing I had ever experienced. I was in there so long, my son was worried about me and called my cell phone. I didn't even have the strength to open my purse and answer it. I felt so rotten I could barely pay attention to the game. It was about the 7th inning before I started feeling ok. I learned a very valuable lesson that day!! -
Some people are SO IGNORANT!!!
Cindy C replied to AlyGurl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
People like to criticize what they don't understand. It makes them feel like they aren't as stupid as they really are! Quite frankly, I don't give a Damn (can I say that?) what they think of me or my choices! -
Maybe. Maybe not. Everyone is different.

Regardless of the weather our bodies are consistently 98 degrees!

Okay LADIES I need help please.....
Cindy C replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Measure your chest just below your breasts and add 5 inches. If that give you an odd number round up. Measure the largest part of your breasts, usually around the nipple. If you are saggy do this wearing your best fitting bra. Subtract your band measurement from your bust measurement to get your cup size. 1 inch = A 2 inches = B 3 inches = C 4 inches = D 5 inches = DD So if your band measures 33 (+5) and your breasts measure 41 that makes you a 38C. That's your starting point. Different bras are made differently so you need to try them on and may have to tweek a little. I find that Fashion Bug bras fit me perfectly....but that's me and may not be you. Good luck! -
Should be fine. Lapband originated in Sweden in 1985 and was being used throughout Europe by 1993. It wasn't FDA approved in the US until 2001. They have way more experience with it than we do. You should have no trouble finding a doctor if you need one!

Finding The Lap Band Green Zone
Cindy C replied to Alex Brecher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Could you maybe pin this one so it's easier to find?
