I was told I couldn't go back to work for 2 weeks
Cindy C replied to sherrypep's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back to work in six days. I was also dehydrated two days after surgery and drove myself back to the hospital twenty five miles away. I even stopped at a garage sale on the way! Lol -
For those already banded..what to bring with you??
Cindy C replied to Poppie'sMouse's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I wish I would have taken a decent pillow. The ones at the hospital were like cardboard. -
Guess you showed them!!! My doctor only see lapband patients Monday afternoons and Thursday mornings. I always make my appointment for the first one of the day. That way he doesn't have time to fall behind.

eating as a form of enjoyment after the surgery
Cindy C replied to james42's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I usually just order off of the appetizer menu and tell them to bring it with everyone else's meal. Mealtime with loved ones isn't about the food...it's about the time spent together! -
If you are a lapband patient having nighttime reflux the first thing you should do is get some fluid removed!

That's no true. I've lost 145 pounds and gone from a BMI of 48 to my current 26. And I'm still losing!!! Continue to do your research and make the decision that's right for you but don't let them scare you into it!

I found that as the numbers on the scale started going down so did the emotional issues. Never in a million years did I think that I could ever give up the pop but honestly it was incredibly easy. I don't miss it one bit. As for the emotional eating, once I realized that it doesn't solve problems it creates them it was easy to stop doing it. When I have a bad day before I would go pig out on something, now I find something else to occupy my mind...read a book, go shopping, call a friend, hang out with my animals...anything non food related!

not quite an NSV but so close

Feels great, doesn't it? Good job! -
That's great. I agree with everything you said. I began to recognize the same changes in my head almost immediately after surgery. Now, three years later, those changes are still in place. I'll never go back there!

If you take Milk of Mag, make sure you drink water with it. It won't work without water. 2 Tablespoons of MOM and then chug 8-12 ounces of water. Or try prune juice. It works better if you heat it up a little...about 30-45 seconds in the microwave. Once you get past this, get some benefiber and put a teaspoon in everything you drink. It's flavorless and dissolves completely. You don't know its there.

Actually, my ancestors came here in 1609. But you're right, ms. lady. Having a battle of wits with an unarmed man is beginning to bore me!

WOW!!! You really have me figured out! LMAO!! Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. -First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution

Where on earth did you get that? My advise was to work out her problems and attempt to save her marriage!!!!! As for my statement about our forefathers, I was making the point that this nation was not founded on Christianity and is not a Christian society. I suppose since I happen to be Jewish, in your eyes I'm evil and going to Hell. I've got news for you. If Hell exists, I'm sure I'll be seeing YOU when I get there! Take a good look at the world around you....all the strife and war on this planet. Every bit of it is because of religion. I would venture to guess that if there were no religion we would have world peace!

OMG!!!! I just came across this thread and read every post. (OK I skimmed the ones I found hard to stomach!) MZ, You are clearly in turmoil. I have found along my journey that it's not only the body that changes. The mind goes through changes as well. For years I had the self confidence of a flea. The more weight I lost and the more attention and compliments I received, the more that changed. I still have a hard time believing the happy, confident person I've become. Even though I was divorced many years before my lap band, I can completely understand your thought process. You are going through so many changes and are confused about what the future does and should hold for you. I suggest you send the kids to Grandma's for the weekend and take your husband to a nice quiet hotel where you have no distractions and have a heart to heart with him. Lay all of your cards on the table and work out whatever you need to work out. You have alot invested in your marriage and I would hate to see you throw that away when you aren't really sure what it is you want. Good luck to you , whatever you decide. Awkward, there is absolutely nothing in this world that I hate more than a holy roller who attempts to shove their religious values down the throats of others. FYI, we DO NOT live in a Christian society. The only people who think we do are you and your like. Check your history books. Our forefathers came to this land to escape religious persecution not to create it. They were not Christians, they were Deists! If you don't know what that is.....look it up! We are here to help each other not to insult each other. If you can't offer up anything constructive then don't comment at all.

It's attitude like that that made you...and the rest of us...obese in the first place. Let it consume you temporarily so you can enter your 30's a healthy, happy, well adjusted person.

Love it!

Oh, Honey, it's most definitely a maturity issue. That's clear from your first post. You've been banded for 3 months. It took longer than that to gain the weight and it's gonna take longer to lose it. Lapband is NOT an over night fix. Follow the process and be patient and the weight will come off. I promise you that, but you have to do your part!
-
I also looked at your information. (You actually only live a couple miles from me.) I'm assuming you are freshly banded since you've only been a member here since last month. Did you expect to wake up in recovery at your goal weight? You are 25 years old. You have youth on your side and should be able to lose rapidly. I'm twice your age with a 50 year old metabolism and have still managed to lose over 140 pounds. Maybe the difference is I have the maturity to handle the lifestyle changes that are necessary for success. I think possibly some counseling could help you. If you can't afford it Macomb County CMH or Catholic Social Services should be able to provide it for you. You've been given the opportunity of a life time. I wish I would have had this tool 25 years ago. My life would have so much different if I had. Don't blow this chance!

Hippa is Hippa and all the release forms in the world aren't going to change that. An employee cannot discuss a patients care with her mother or anyone else.

I met a new goal today...
Cindy C replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's great, Mom. Changing that middle number is awesome. I did the same thing today. I only record my weight on Tuesdays. This morning I'm 179. I've seen it on the scale a couple times, but this is the first Tuesday that it's showed up so now it counts!! -
Cheaters NEVER win! Pre-Op Diet Slip-Up
Cindy C replied to MissMay's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor doesn't require any pre-op diet at all! It's crazy they postponed for a couple walnuts and meatballs a week before surgery! -
That's great. Keep up the good work! I see you made it to Twoderville. Next stop, Onderland. You'll be there before you know it!

Is this how it's SUPPOSED to be???
Cindy C replied to OneYearLater's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For at least the first year you need to see your doctor monthly. Your tool isn't working for you because you aren't taking care of it. Like any other tool if you want it to work properly it has to be properly maintained. If you drove your car 100,000 miles without changing the oil who's fault is gonna be when the engine blows? The car's? The mechanic's? No....YOUR"S!!! You need to go to the doctor and take care of your tool!
