I ran into someone last week that I hadn't seen in years and they asked what I did. I simply said "I regained control of my life!" And left it at that.

Generally, cold makes swelling go down. That's why you ice a swollen ankle. For some reason it's seems to work opposite with lapband. Try drinking something hot until it loosens up!

Good job!!! Congrats!

In the beginning and throughout my "losing hair phase" I took prenatal vitamins. I don't take any now. I think I eat well enough to no longer need to supplement.

When I was wearing plus sizes I never went into those department stores for clothes for some of the reasons mentioned here. Low quality, racks too close together, unreliable sizes etc. Almost all of my clothes came from Catherine's. They only carry size 16-32 and everything is high quality but still reasonably priced. They always had great sales and awesome clearances. I guess I did buy a few things at Fashion Bug as well but it's owned by the same company.

Extending expiration date on protien powder?
Cindy C replied to Karlzmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree. Most non perishable items are good long past the date. -
I would have to pick C. I have eaten whatever I wanted the entire 3 years since banding and have lost over 140 pounds, however; I must say, the things I want have changed drastically.

Its mind over matter. You have to MAKE yourself stop. Find something else to do when you can't sleep. Grab a book, turn on the computer or tv, find a job around the house you've been putting off...anything that keeps you out of the kitchen!

best friend upset because I didn't tell her I was banded
Cindy C replied to dramastarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't imagine keeping something that big from my best friend. We tell each other absolutely everything. Hopefully you can repair your friendship. I think you need to apologize to her for not trusting her to be supportive. And I would do so without mentioning her attitude toward someone else having it done. That person wasn't her best friend..you are and her attitude may have been different! -
I never would set a goal until about 6 months ago which was about 2 1/2 years out. I picked 162 because I started at 324 and that is half. I'm still not sure about it. If I get there and decide it was wrong, I'll set a new one. On the other hand, if I get to 168 and like it I'll stay there.

I did it! I reached my first HUGE Goal!
Cindy C replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's awesome! Congrats! -
I made my own before my surgery and froze it in small containers.

My preop appt was about a month before my surgery. I ate myself stupid the first 2 weeks and then buckled down and dieted the last 2. I managed to lose 15 lbs. When you're over 300 lbs it's pretty easy to lose that much since its mostly water weight anyway.

Products for pre-op diet
Cindy C replied to aliciab's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only thing that matters is that you lose a few pounds before surgery to shrink your liver. A lot of doctors don't even require it. Mine didn't but I took it upon myself to do so. I figured if I made it easier for him, it would inevitably make it easier on myself down the road. -
I have the same dilemma. I also hate eggs. On the rare occasion I do go out for breakfast I either just get coffee or I might order a bran muffin or a side of bacon and maybe some whole grain toast. I know muffins and toast are carbs but I don't usually eat it all anyway. My BF is a big guy with a big appetite and I can always count on him to finish what I can't.

feeling teary and other things after my lap band surgery
Cindy C replied to im~starvingatm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to be careful about what and how much you put in your mouth at this point. Your body is still healing from surgery. You don't want to cause any damage. Your band is stitched into place and putting that volume through it could pop those stitches. That's why your doctor has you on liquids or mushies or whatever his protocol is. Give yourself time to heal. Try to find something else to occupy your mind when the thoughts of food creep in. -
That's great, Jenn. Congrats. I needed a dress for a special occasion last summer and after shopping and shopping for it with no luck, I wondered into a consignment shop and got exactly what I wanted for $12.

What is the rationale behind no caffeine?
Cindy C replied to SarahStLouis's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor encourages drinking coffee to loosen up the band in the morning. It doesn't make me hungry, it curbs my appetite....always has! -
That's great njgirl. The hardest part of going to the gym is putting on the clothes and getting in the car. Once there the work out feels awesome...its just getting the motivation to go!

Finding The Lap Band Green Zone
Cindy C replied to Alex Brecher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the same issues therefore I never eat in the morning. I drink coffee to loosen my band. On the rare occasion that I feel hungry I have a protein shake or a yogurt. -

You should probably set your goal to a weight that gives you a healthy BMI (<25). When I had my TT he removed 10 pounds of skin. Don't expect to see that on the scale right away, though. Due to all the swelling and drainage caused by the surgery it took almost 3 weeks to see it.
-
I weigh myself everyday...some days more than once...but the only one that counts is first thing Tuesday mornings. My first appt, surgery and TT were all on Tuesdays so it seemed appropriate that I choose Tuesday's weight for the week.
