I can't believe there's a dr/surgery center putting patients back to regular food in 5 days. The purpose of being on liquids is to give the body time to heal and the mind time to get accustomed to the life style changes. It appears that the purpose IS being negated since your main issue here is that you can't eat fast enough. The band is designed to help you eat slower which will make you full sooner thus causing you to lose weight. Enjoy your pureed cheeseburger.

I always weigh 3 or 4 pounds more at the doctor than I did at home. -

Lap Band not installed!

I don't agree that the super obese don't qualify for lap band. At 6'4" and 400# his BMI is 48. That is exactly what mine was at the beginning of my journey. I think part of the difference is that my doctor has been doing lap band since 2003 and has done almost 3000 of them. -
Thanks, everyone. it's true that nothing tastes as good as skinny feels!!

I agree. I wasn't implying that he was a poor surgeon based on his profile here. I also checked him out on another website that rates doctors and found that the majority of the surgeries he does are gall bladder and abdominal scar tissue removal. It didn't even mention bariatrics as something he does. Based on that and the fact that he has only been doing lap band since 2009 I would think that he is somewhat inexperienced and think that the OP would have better luck with someone more experienced. -
SMOKEY! Being from Detroit and growing up during the Motown era, I named "him" after Smokey Robinson because he's my own little Miracle!!!

how long were you in the hospital? out of work?
Cindy C replied to Sabrina140's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery was at 8 am Tuesday. Went home at Noon Wednesday. Had a very physical job that I returned to the following Monday. I went back on "light duty" which meant 25lb lifting restriction for the first week. Could have done my job just fine from the beginning but my co-workers wouldn't let me! -

I would not go back to him. I would find a new doctor. I just checked out your doctor and found that he has 15 patients registered here. 8 are pre op. Of the 7 that are post op only 1 has had success plus he has only been doing bariatric surgery for about 2 years. -
So am I just being too picky with these darn protein shakes?
Cindy C replied to JinTx's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All of the premade ones are nasty. I just mix protein powder with carnation instant breakfast. I have also found that the straight whey doesn't dissolve very well so I get the whey/soy combo. -

You don't owe anybody an explanation. You're happy with your progress and that's all that matters. Keep it up! You're doing great!! -
CONFLICTED...My Lap Band Story...
Cindy C replied to Sleeved_4.3.13's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
OMG, that's horrible. My heart goes out to your friend and to you. I'm sure you've been told a million times that your friend's accident was not your fault. Would she want you to pass on this possible opportunity or would she want you to go ahead? My guess is she would want what's best for you. If this doctor determines that he can do the surgery I say you should do it. Do it for yourself and do it for your friend. Maybe your success would make her accident and condition not be in vain. -
Some supplements (fish oil and ginkgo) have blood thinning properties that can cause you to bruise more easily. steroids cause the skin to thin making it bruise more easily, not just pills & injections but also topicals. Are you using anything like Cortisone, Hydrocortisone or Prednisone for anything? Easy bruising can also be a sign of diabetes.

Inches gone but no weight loss, how can this be?
Cindy C replied to Amanda1982's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be happy with the NSV's. The scale will catch up eventually! -
Oh, Honey, you think your arms are bad...just wait til you get a load of your thighs after you lose the majority of your weight! Unfortunately, insurance isn't going to pay for either one! Discomfort or not it won't be deemed a medical necessity. They will pay for your stomach because you can get yeast infections under that skin. The best thing you can do is try to tone them the best you can and drink lots of water. It helps the skin's elasticity.

Biotin and protein aren't going to hurt and might even help a little but the hair loss is the body' s reaction to the rapid weight loss. There isn't really much you can do about it. The good news is its not falling out, its only breaking. It will grow back.

Diet ocean spray only has 5 calories per 8 ounces! I mix it with vodka. Never tried adding OJ. Hmmmmm.......,...may just have to try that! -
Welcome, Tori, and good luck.

Good for you. You need to allow yourself a little indulgence once in a while. And yes.....shopping counts as exercise!
