What kind of birth control do you use?

I can't really help you since my form of birth control is called "being over 50." I just wanted to give you a well deserved LOL. ^That's funny!
  2. My doctor asks me how much I want and then puts that amount in. Sometimes he tries to change my mind but, ultimately his theory is that I know my body better than he does. Not real far from Buffalo if you cut through Canada. He's in Port Huron, MI. Don't know if he takes other patients but you can try. The number is 810-989-3328. Ext. 2 will get you to the nurse. She can tell you.
  3. Actually, there's no need to go over it with your doctor. The rule is this--if it's scored it can be crushed or cut. If's it coated it cannot. Capsules can be opened and just the inside taken, although it usually tastes horrible.
  4. I had my TT 2 years ago. I also had 10 pounds removed. Since then, in addition to that 10 I've lost 20 more. I have absolutely no loose skin down there. I plan on losing another 15-20 and have no reason to think I will sag again. Just make sure that as soon as you are released to exercise afterward, that you start doing crunches to help keep it tight.
  5. Have you decided on a bariatric doctor yet? You should probably start there. His office will be able to tell you exactly what your insurance's criteria is. Some companies require a 6-12 month supervised diet. If you've been going to your PCP for any length of time he should be able to help you bypass that. He knows your history. Especially if you saw him during that 60 pound loss before your pregnancy. With a BMI of 38 you shouldn't need co-morbidities. Those are usually required if your BMI is under 35. If you haven't decided on a doctor go to the main page here. Scroll down to Find a Surgeon. Click on your state and scroll to your city. They should all be listed there. Good Luck.

    So..... Burping?

I can control it too. Can even do it on demand! LOL. I was out to dinner with my best friend one night and she accidentally let out a little one. She got sort of embarrassed and said oops. I asked her what the heck that was and she it was a burp. I said if your gonna do it, do it right and let out a monster just as she took a drink. It shot out her nose!! Was priceless!! Get used to it. They aren't going anywhere!!
  7. Welcome to Onderland, Kelly, and Happy Bandiversary (a day early).
  8. You don't need a swift kick. What you need is to take a deep breath, put your priorities in order and set up a list of rules for yourself that you can follow. You already have all the information you need to succeed. You know what you have to do. Now it's time to put it into action. From your picture I see you have a little one. You have to tend to his needs but not to the extent that you ignore your own. Make yourself and your weight loss your number one priority. If some counseling would help GO GET IT! Talk to your lapband doctor or his staff. Set up a little reward schedule for every 10 or 20 pounds you lose. Get your kids involved. "Help Mommy lose 20 pounds and we'll all go to the zoo!" Do whatever it takes. You've come this far. You've been through all of the pre-op stuff, the research, the expense, the time, the surgery. You didn't do all of that so you could fail. You can do this. I know you can or you wouldn't be here. Good luck. We're all here if you need us.

Lap Band comes out tomorrow! Hallelujah!

Good luck. I hope everything works out for you and I'm sorry about the problems you've had. By your screen name I am assuming that you are a nurse. You certainly know that Celebrex is an NSAID and you should not be taking it as a lapband patient. I understand that Bursitis is very painful and you needed to relieve the pain. Did you try Cortisone injections? Again, I wish you luck and hope you are able to find success in your journey.

    Did you Know??

You don't need to get it from your doctor. You can get it right from Allergan: ID Card

    That's great. Congrats!

    nausea

You're fine. My nausea lasted for a month. I carried around a bottle of Emetrol every where I went. It's a cherry flavored liquid and CVS has their own brand. I think its only about 4 bucks. Works almost instantly!
  14. I can understand the hot sauce. It just about kills me. But why no garlic?
  15. Cindy C

    Wow

    That's great. Keep it up!
  16. It depends on when the doctor and hospital can fit you into their schedules. For me it was about 3 1/2 weeks.
  17. I'm not emotionally connected to anything plus sized. I did hang onto a couple of favorite t-shirts that I wear as nightgowns now. Salvation Army is a great place to get transitional clothes. Of course, I wouldn't buy underwear there...eww, that's just gross!! But I've gotten some really nice things there at very low prices.
  18. I get alot of the same pain if I over eat.

Sugar free gum and hard candies??

Be careful with the s/f candy. Too much can cause diarrhea.

    Nausea 2 days post op.

Get some liquid Emetrol. Worked like magic for me.
  21. My doctor suggests taking meds in liquid form whenever available otherwise they shouldn't be any larger than an aspirin. I don't know what meds you are on but as you lose weight you should be able to eliminate some of them. As for sleeping on your belly....I really can't answer that. I used to all the time but haven't been able to since my first pregnancy 23 years ago.

    Food Frustration

It should be slightly liquidy. You want everything to be runny enough to slip right through your band. It should be able to go through a straw.

    Lost my lap band!

Next to something happening to my kids, that is truly my worst fear. I feel for you. This is where will power is going to have to kick in. The only advise I can offer you is to be totally proactive! Weigh yourself every single day and the minute you start seeing the number going up know that you have to change something. Keep the crap out of the house and keep yourself busy. Look at old before pictures and remember how awful you felt back then. You did a great job on your weight loss. You can do this too. Good Luck. Any chance they can put a new one in?
  24. I was the same way in the beginning. I had absolutely no appetite or interest in food. My doctor knew and said "If you're not hungry don't eat. Just make sure you are getting enough water and taking your vitamins." So that is my advise to you. Force yourself to drink water. You don't want to become dehydrated. I did. It was not pleasant!

    Shopping Frustration...

Until you reach your goal, trying getting things in the in between sizes at Salvation Army. I have gotten some of the cutest clothes there. The are very inexpensive so you aren't investing alot into things you aren't going to be wearing for long plus the money you do spend is going to a charitable organization. Its a win-win!
