    WTG!! That's great!

    The big 50!

Thank-you, Corrigan. I really do want everyone to succeed because obesity sucks!

    Goal weight

M doctor didn't set a goal for me. He asked me what my goal was. I think 180 is way to high for you. That would still leave you with a BMI of over 30 which is still obese. To get down to a healthy BMI of 25 you need to be under 145. Judging by the progress you've made so far, I don't see any reason for you not to able to do so. Good Job!

    Does it hurt???

None of it is painful...not even uncomfortable. You may be surprised and get a date sooner than October. I had my surgery 25 days after my first consult.

    The big 50!

I remember how excited when I hit 50 too so I know how you feel. Congrats! I'm one pound away from 150. Can't wait to see it....I hoping for tomorrow so I can put it the end of summer challenge!

    Alcohol

My favorite aunt passed away 3 weeks after my surgery. I had to travel to another state for her funeral. I sat by the hotel pool and drank a bottle of wine with my cousin. My daughter questioned whether I should be drinking. I said, "I'm on a liquid diet. Wine's liquid!" Other than getting tipsy awfully quickly having not eaten in 3 weeks, I was fine.

    Not Quite in Bandster Mentality

The mental aspect is every bit as important as the physical. I remember years ago hearing some anorexic starlet (I think it was Heather Locklear) say, "I don't care how good it is. As soon as I start to feel full I stop eating." I had some not so kind thoughts for her! But now, I totally get it!
  8. It is. This is the first time since college that my boobs stuck out further than my belly! LOL!

    Sinus Drainage!

Sinus drainage is normal. I always know when I've eaten too much when my noise starts running.
  10. Excessive vomiting, excessive overeating and carbonated beverages.

    What doe NSV stand for??

    That's a great NSV!
  12. Drive to Sarnia and cross over to Port Huron. Dr. Bhesania, who happens to be Canadian also, is awesome. He's been doing Lapband since about 2002 and has done about 2000 of them.

How much weight loss to drop a size

Its been about twenty pounds per size for me although I did totally skip over a couple sizes.

    Starting this journey

It's normal to be a little nervous before surgery but, compared to the 2 C-Sections I had, lap band was a cake walk! Relax, Ladies. It will be fine!

    NO Pre-OP Diet

My doctor said a pre op diet was not necessary. When I asked if liver shrinkage would make it easier on him he said no. I did, however; take it upon myself to diet anyway for the week or so leading to surgery and lost 15 pounds.
  16. Get some liquid Emetrol. It's cherry flavored and worked like a charm for me.

    A little frustrated

You just started solid foods. That's why you had the gain. I gained 5 pounds that week. Don't worry. Your body is adjusting to all the changes you're putting it through. The weight lose will pick back up in a couple weeks. You might want to avoid the scale until then. I know it can be very frustrating!

    Finally Introducing Myself

I couldn't agree more. Your post made me wonder just how far Australia is from me so I plugged your town and mine into Google Maps. It was over 15,000 miles but the funny thing was it gave me driving directions to the west coast and then said kayak across the Pacific Ocean! TOO FUNNY!!!!

    Thanks for the help.

Thank-you, but don't be so sure. I have had my days! LOL! That's great. Staying young is so important. Age really is just a number. I work in geriatrics (not to say that you're geriatric) and can tell you first hand that staying active and keeping a positive mental attitude is key to a long healthy life. I've had patients in their 90's still going strong and others in their 60's ready for the grave. As for myself, at 48 and 324 pounds I felt like I was in my 60's. Now, 3 years later, I'm 51 and 176 pounds and think I'm 35! Good luck to you, my friend. I'm sure you'll do great! Keep us posted.
  20. That's great, Yolanda. Glad it went well. Welcome to the journey!
  21. Mine is on the left just below my ribcage.

    Thanks for the help.

You're having surgery at 74 years old? I think that is awesome. Good for you and good luck!
  23. Wow, that's great. You might want to revisit your patient profile. It says that your starting weight was 298. I'm guessing you aren't down to 88 lbs. It also says your out of pocket was a million dollars! Anyway, good job! BTW, I was banded in June, '08. Down 148!

    Finally Introducing Myself

HOLY MOLY, LOOK AT YOU!!! Awesome job! You must feel wonderful. I'm not from Australia....probably about as far away as you can get!
