Hi Linda:redface: My real name is Mindy...the chicken soup unjury was really good, I forgot all about that one:rolleyes: Yes, hopefully we will be able to meet at the support groups, it is so nice to be able to talk with people who have experienced the same thing! I haven't met anyone else at the clinic that uses this forum, but I haven't asked either:tongue: Daniellevaughn- so have you been banded for over a year and a half? Have you been successful with your weightloss? I am kind of at a plateu, I have only lost two pounds in a month so I am getting frustrated:cursing:

Wow, what a small world:redface: I absolutely love everyone in the clinic, they are so nice and helpful. I have went to two support group meetings and hopefully will be able to attend more. Walking, ice, a heating pad, and getting all my waterand protein really helped me after surgery. Are you going to take a protein supplement? I suggest unjury (chocolate) it was the best...I mixed it with the 25 calorie packets of hot coco:redface::thumbup::redface:

I use the Wii Fit for strength training and yoga. I do it after I do cardio every other day. I really like it, I didn't think yoga or strenght training would help at all but after I get done I can really feel a difference. I would like to get DDR too!

Lovebugs replied to terilynn112's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What was the title of the DVD, I bet she kicked butt:tongue::tongue::tongue: I just went to the doctor for my second fill yesterday and have lost 45 lbs and my percentage of body fat went down 8 percent. I was so proud of myself and I know the weight lose has a lot to do with exercise:biggrin: I ended up being able to jog for 13 minutes yesterday ( I know not a huge number but I was never able to jog before) Thanks for motivating me to exercise more:thumbup::thumbup: -

Who can still eat whatever they want?
Lovebugs replied to Shasta92582's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Kmorrow, that has to be very frustrating...do you have to wait another few weeks for a fill or your doctor won't give you any more fills at all? Are you still sticking to your eating plan or is it hard since you don't have restriction? -

I was banded on 9-9-08. I had my first fill six weeks later 10-20--08. So far I have 3 cc in a 10 cc band with little to no restriction. I go in for my next fill on 11-17-08. My docotr said it might take him three more times to find the "sweet spot" but right now I could eat ANYTHING if I let myself. I stick to the rules that the doctor said...Protein first, water (try to have at leat 80 oz a day no more than 100 oz), exercise, and NO snacking. So far I have lost a little over 40 pounds but can't wait until I have a little restriction to help with the hunger:angry_smile: -
That outdoor game sounds fun... Man my Christmas list is filling up with all these fun wii games (that even will include exercise) Can't wait until Christmas:tongue::tongue:

When I am walking or jogging I sometimes have pain on the right side (port side). I think this is due to the fact that the port was sewn into the muscle and when we are working that muscle really hard it will hurt like any other muscle. I asked my doctor about this and he said that the occassional pain was normal. If you are having pain all the time it wouldn't hurt to ask your doctor about it:confused:
-
I really found that putting a heating pad on your stomach or port side in the begginnning helped the muscle heal and allowed me to be able to get up and walk around more. The gas pain goes away in a couple of days and walking really seems to relieve some of that pain:smile2: Good luck to all of you keep up the good work!

I was banded on 9-9-08. On my first fill six weeks later I had lost 33 pouns. Some weeks I haven't lost weight at all so I am only weighing myself once a week now. I go in for my second fill Nov. 17th. My goal is to have lost 50 pounds by then, to have my BMI in the 30's and to lower my percentage of bodyfat. I find exercise and water really help with the weight loss. :smile2:

Is DDR hard to get the hang of if you have never played it? I love dancing but I am worried that I wouldn't understand how the game works and get frustrated. Let me know your thoughts!!!!
-

Is that the lady off of Biggest Loser...if so I bet it will kick your butt...if you can post a message on what you think of it...can't wait to hear if you like it or not!

I love using the Wii Fit but hate having to stop and go to the next activity...I love the fact it gives you grief if you haven't been on it in a few days. How many days of the week are you exercising and for how long?
-
PSUNDAY- That is awesome!!!!! How did your first fill go? Did it hurt, did you feel restriction afterwards? How much do you work out a day? Nights are hard for me too...I have found heating up the 0 calorie apple cider in the microwave helps (it makes me feel like I am drinking hot apple cider) I also use the sweet rewards Swiss Miss Hot chocolate, it only has 25 calories. Keep up the good work, your weight loss is a huge success!!!

I have a random question for everyone....How much do you weigh yourself? I think I am becoming obsessed with the scale. I weigh myself at least twice a day. I am thinking of either... A. only weighing myself once a week or B. waiting until I go see my doctor again for another fill in three weeks and either be surprised or disappointed by my weight. ANY SUGGESTIONS:rolleyes:

I have been reading other peoples messages on this website and decided to join today. I was banded on 9-9-08 in Des Moines by Dr. Cahalon. I was really surprised how much pain I was in after surgery. It took me a week and five days to actually feel better and I was able to take a walk. I had my first fill on Monday October 20th and my doctor put in 3ccs. We had to go down to x-ray b/c he wanted to be sure he was hitting the port(this was after sticking me with the needle two times). I still feel no restriction and am HUNGRY!!!!! I am working out 40 minutes a day and following the four goldren rules but feel that I am at a plateau as far as my weight loss goes. Any suggestions would be wonderful:redface:
-
Wow, congrats...Please share some tips that seemed to work for you. How amazing, you are a great inspiration!!!!!
-
Trust me the pain will get better. I was getting a low grade fever one week out of surgery and thought there was something wrong but the doc. said that was normal b/c my body was healing. Try putting a heating pad on your stomach, it really helped me a lot. I remember the first time I was able to sleep on my side, I was so happy.

I have been keeping a food journal since I got out of the hospital. You may be right I might not be getting in enough calories and my body is in starvation mode. I think it is a mental thing that if I get too many calories I will gain weight and not lose. What did you nutritionist think of you adding a snack. My nutritionist thinks that snacks are forbidden...don't know what to think yet!
