Mine are doing well. Steri strips are off of 3 of them and I'm rubbing them with a bit of EMU oil (I get this from my vet 100% pure and good for all things having to do with your skin) The strips covering my incision for my port are still there but all in good time I'm sure.

I'm having a hard time with getting my calories past 600 per day. Today I've had: 2tbs vanilla Raspberry SF Protein pudding with morning meds B: scrambled egg with cheese and milk S: 1 shrimp; 1/3 slice of turkey bacon; 2 tsp. chestnut puree L: Burrito Bowl - refried beans; cheese, cauliflower rice (shredded cauliflower steamed) and 2 corn chips grinded to a pulp on top (volume on this is about 1/8 of a cup) S: 2 Tbs Blueberry yogurt (took with pills); 2 pieces of string cheese D: Turkey meatball w/cheese and a bit of bbq sauce; mashed potato S: Protein shake mixed with sf fudgesicle and 1tbs banana

What a great idea! I walked for about 30 min. outside today with my dog. And puttered around the house. I've been either walking outside or on our treadmill since the day after surgery.

Call your doc. But my first response would be to say no because from what I've heard of band slippage you can't get anything down.

6 days post op and hardly able to eat...help!
annjones replied to teacherica's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 10 days out from surgery. My belly is a bit tender but all is going well. As many have said healing is the big thing right now. Getting your Vitamins, nutrients and Protein play a big roll in your healing. When I was on liquids only I did cheat (kinda) I chewed 1 corn chip till it was mush then fed that mush to my dog, did the same with a small piece of pork roast. Flavor and something to chew was the only thing I was craving. Once I did that (and my dogs loved it) back to my liquids I went. Surgery during the holidays is no walk in the park, but staying focused and calling your doc with concerns or questions is a very good idea. -
Ok, I never thought I would be asking this.... I was banded on Dec. 23rd. I'm on soft foods now and am doing great on hydrating, Protein, Vitamins, etc. I am only averaging about 400 or so calories a day and I'm finding in the afternoon before I eat my lunch I am getting really weak. I really am full between meals and don't want to start any bad habits of grazing etc. But I'm needing to increase my calories so I can function. I really don't want to drink more Protein shakes if I don't have to. Ideas, advice etc is most appreciated.

Thank you both! It is comforting to hear that this isn't an uncommon problem. I'm really working on sticking to the eating guidelines. I've added some Snacks between meals and I got up to 800 calories before any exercise deducted them. Felt much better and didn't get that wiped out feeling from low calories.

Wow weight is dropping off
annjones replied to toniobryan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on the 23rd of Dec. and on day 4 after surgery I was able to move to full liquids. I definately can tell a difference in how much I can eat or want to eat. For myself I have found if I feel at all weak/dizzy/light headed it is usually because I need a shot of Protein or some Iron. Have you started taking your supplements yet? -
I've been belching like a sailor. It actually makes me laugh. I'm hoping it isn't a permanent thing, because yes it could get imbarrasing.

I was banded on 12/23 and am doing great. I'm very gassy and can belch like a sailor. I'm getting my 60+ Protein and over 64 oz of Water. I really want to chew something but I gotta weight for that. -

Sounds like you did great! I know I started my pre-op liquid diet on the day of the family christmas get together. Everyone was totally understanding and even made jokes about it...as did I. I found I was able to get some broth from the Roast Beef and add it to my beef broth, which was devine. It was hard, especially standing right next to the Ham and wanting so badly to take a piece and munch on it. Keep up the hard work, it will all pay off in the end.

1 week post opp thoughts
annjones replied to Inspiremeslim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on the 23rd of December and am still on liquids. Tomorrow I go to Full Liquids!!! woohooo I've lost about 17 lbs before my surgery, which is pretty great! I figure it will take until the 6 month mark for my body to be healed and my band in the routine of working. Right now concentrate on healing after surgery. Do what your doc says. Stay away from your scale. :tongue2: -
December 23rd bandsters
annjones replied to nicci63's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got banded on the 23rd and am doing well. My tummy is a bit sore and I have a slight pain in my shoulder now and again. I'm tired of liquids .... It isn't that I'm hungry but more I just want a variety of tastes in my mouth..and I miss chewing things. I'm glad to see so many "band date" buddies! -
Lap Band Surgery Dec 23,2008
annjones replied to JulieJulie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded on the 23rd! Eventhough I had had surgeries before and read all the very wonderful information on this board on what to expect. I was nervous, scared and excited. I was checked in/preped and then my family came in to see me. After they left, I have totally forgotten anything and only remember when I "woke" up in recover...thinking why is the clock on the wall so blurry.. Then I was taken to my room, my family came in and my vitals were taken and I was xrayed. No barium thingy. Once I was able to have Water, I had no problem sipping it. Today, I'm pretty sore but I am keeping ahead of the pain. I'm still dozing to sleep off and on. I was able to take my regular medication (small pills) with no problems. I feel like I'm floating with all the water I'm drinking. Not hungry at all!!! -
Woohooo I got my band yesterday 12/23!!! My tummy is sore and I'm very thirsty, but everything was a breeze. My doc and his team are wonderful, caring and compassionate.

Tomorrow is the B Day! I'm scared and nervous and way excited. My doc only requires 2 days liquid diet but mine started on the day of a family holiday party. There was tons of good smelling food but I stuck to it. Everyone there is very excited for me and offered me tons of support. And I finally found a Trader Joe's! Cool store, much like Whole Foods. I stocked up on stuff and *big nervous sigh* I'm ready to go. Good Luck to all who are being banded today and this week!
