  5. Gosh I fell behind. Guess I should set my Feb. Goal My current weight is 265 and 8 lbs for 257 as my goal weight for February. The number just seems so much like fantasy. I've fought with my weight for so many years and yo-yo'd but I've not been this low in weight for over 15 years. I'm seriously exercising 3 times per week and lightly the other 4 days of the week. Feeling better, looking better, and it shows

    Scared to lapband

I was pretty leary at first as well. Had, of course, heard all the extreme stories. But as I read through this board and educated myself on the band and such the fear went away. I've been banded since December 23rd and it is great. I'm loosing weight, living healthier, my clothes are all loose and falling off me...and I'm eating things I like. I've not had to "give up" anything really. I was never a big candy person, or soda person. I'm still drinking coffee (just smaller amounts and less frequently) than before and my meal sizes are way smaller than before (and I'm not missing anything) I don't feel deprived or starved. My advise to you is to learn as much as you can about Lapband. Visit this site, Obesityhelp.com and go to support groups.

    8 Weeks/2 Months Post Op

Wow everyone is doing great! Here are my pics.
  9. This is why I really like this board. I just got my 1st fill yesterday. I had noticed about a week before that I was able to eat more in volume. (of course more is no where near the amount it was before being banded) I was getting hungry between meals and was very thankful I had scheduled my fill for yesterday. After the fill I've felt full to my neck and I feel like I have a small lump in my throat. I can drink ok and liquids are fine..guess each new experience I will learn more and more..but it sure helps to have posts of simular stuff to read from.

    Concern about Pouch Stretching

I've not tried this yet but I've heard some great success stories about people getting back on track with this "recipe" It is a 5 day pouch test. Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test
  11. This is the post I needed to see this morning. Yesterday was the first day I was hit with real hunger since surgery. Granted I did not eat anywhere near what I ate prebanded but it seemed like such a large quantity compaired to what I've gotten full on since surgery. I'm so glad I'm getting a fill on Monday!
  12. Failure was my biggest fear prior to surgery. I educated myself on the band and what to expect, as well as what I could do before hand to get ready. But going through all this and the thought of feeling good and going forward than having it all trashed with failure (this has been a typical cycle) was very scary. Doc says I'm doing really well and ahead of schedule (their schedule I"m guessing) My first fill is the 19th of January and so far so good.
  13. Absolutly. She really has no business knowing about what surgery you have. It won't affect your work or ability to work. The band is a tool in weight loss, she no more needs to know that you have a band than she would need to know if you used a treadmill, aerobic, yoga, etc. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and out of ignorance people judge and do or say things hurtfull. You are doing something very positive for your HEALTH. Keep the negative stuff away *HUGS*
  14. When I asked this same question, it was recommended to me that as much time (min. a week) I could get off the better. I was banded on the 23rd of Dec and didn't return to work until January 5th. My boss did let me work from home for 3 days. But I enjoyed the time to rest, recouperate and get to know my band. Besides being at a desk job I would also strongly consider your work atmosphere. My office has been very supportive through the whole process so far. That is my 2 cents worth of advise Good luck and you will find the band is awesome!
  15. I can see it now...on the front page of the Enquirier..... How I used Duck Tape, a paper clip and a straw to lap band myself!!!! <Yet another use for Duct Tape>....who here has seen Idocracy :grouphug:

    What did you eat today!!

B: Instant Grits with Turkey Bacon S: Vanilla Cinnamon IDS Shake L: Turkey Salad, Steamed Carrots, Multi Grain cracker D: TBD
  18. Let's maybe reset it for 260? I'm sure things are going to level out here soon. But then I go for my first fill on the 19th. Really, I've been following instructions pretty to the point. Proteins first. 64 oz + of water a day. I can't stick totally with the 3 meals a day yet. I have a morning snack and afternoon snack, but I make sure they are high in protein. I am trying to get in at least 30 min of good workout a day. I'm sure that after I get past this begining stage things will level off.
  19. I take about 11 pills a day. My multi Vitamin, B Complex and Calcium are pretty big so I have been cutting them up and it takes me the better part of a day to get them all done. I've had no problems with my smaller pills. But I was very concerned about pills and such before I got banded. Nice to know I worried for nothing.

    surgery today!

I'm sure everything will go smoothly. Remember to drink drink drink, when they let you. I was so thirsty after surgery. And find some way to walk and move when your not resting. It really helps to move the gas through you. Welcome to the Loser's Bench!!!
  21. Guess I made my goal! I'm at 264 as of yesterday!!! Next time I won't go so conservative, I guess.
  22. I am 2 weeks out and am just now starting to get in over 600 calories a day. I was very worried about my calorie intake until I contacted my Nut and she told me to not count calories so much as: 1 - 60-70 grams of Protein a day 2 - Drink 64+ oz of water/fluid a day 3 - Proteins first 4 - no drinking 30 min prior and 1 hour after a meal If I have a snack to make sure it is high in protein. I've lost alot of weight since surgery and I've been totally amazed. I'm still on soft foods but I've been working in normal foods to my meals. But it does make sense that everyone's experiences will be different and depending on what level of healing or what stage you are (post op, pre fill, post fill, etc) the amount you can eat will vary. What I've started doing is when I feel a bit weak or fuzzy headed I grab a high protein snack or popsicle. So far it is working.

    One month down ~ photos

Looking good! I plan to do pics, measurements and a silouhett each monthly anniversary. The silouhett is pretty funny. I layed down on a large piece of paper and my daughter did my outline (face down and on my side) I was amazed at how large my belly was...
