Nah Monkey, I know you agree with me, I just had to make a comment about washing my incisions! You're going to make everyone think I don't shower!!! :sneaky: :smile2: j/k I know my tape was different but I still hated them, just trying to get sympathy for it. hehe. I actually did pull a couple off when they were halfway off, they made my skin itch. You know, I wish these docs would all get together and decide what works the best and have ONE standard! Kind of like the pre and post op diets. :girl_hug:

LouLou, It could be infection, or it could not. My only suggestion was to contact your doctor before doing anything. If they say to scrub it, great! I was told to clean my incisions too but not scrub them. I was also told to leave the tape on until it fell off on it's own (believe me, I hated that! :girl_hug:) Each doc is different and since I cannot see your incision, that is my suggestion. Have a great evening!
-
I would suggest calling your doctor. I was told not to scrub my incisions at all but to just let soap cascade over them. I had "yellowish" stuff too and that was the start of a scab. I would definitely call your doc if you are worried.

Newly Banded in San Antonio - need to lose 250lbs!
irishrose replied to irishrose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I should be able to go to all foods on Tuesday since I will be 4 weeks post op. I seem to get hungrier when I am at work. I haven't eaten today yet and I am fine. Go figure! Like I said, I am impatient and want to be on the losing side now and not wait for healing. -

Hello! My name is Amy and I am 33 years old. I moved to SA from Oregon in September of 2008. I am happily married with a 4 year old (5 this month:eek:) boy. As I stated in the title, I have 250 MORE pounds to lose. I started at a highest weight of 464 and now weigh about 430. I have lost about 14 lbs since my surgery date on August 26th. I have been studying lap band for a couple of years now but it's a whole different story once you are banded! I also have fibromyalgia which is going to be a challenge for me when it comes to exercise. I think this buddy program is great and hope one day I can be a mentor when I have reached goal! -
Newly Banded in San Antonio - need to lose 250lbs!
irishrose replied to irishrose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Gina, I got my first fill on my 2 week follow up (2 weeks ago). I am starting to get hungry more often. I seem to do fine with not eating too much at a meal, but I get hungry within a few hours. I am also struggling with not drinking after the meal. I can make it throught the meal without drinking but it's hard afterward. I have my 4 week appt. on Tuesday and I should be able to get another fill then. I am frustrated also so I completely understand. I am impatient and want to be perfectly restricted NOW!!! I also am still restricted on what I can eat and I am getting bored. I haven't got on the scale since my 2 week appt. I don't want to get too depressed if I haven't lost. -

Hi everyone, Sorry I haven't responded, my computer went down and my in house (DH) IT tech had to build me a new one. :-) Dottie - I am very happy that I have a doctor that is aggressive with fills. He asked me if I wanted one on my 2 week checkup and I got a 2cc fill. My 4 week checkup is next Tuesday and he will do another if I need one. I am struggling with getting hungry soon. I am fine and don't eat too much at a meal, but then am hungry about 2-3 hours later. Jenean - Have you had a fill yet? What kinds of stuff are you eating? I thought it would be a little easier to choose but since I haven't been cleared for veggies, basically mushies, I feel I eat WAY too many carbs. Which probably leads to the early hunger. Hopefully I can go to real food Tuesday! Gina!!! Where in SA are you? Where were you banded? I had my surgery at the new Foundation Bariatric Hospital on Huebner. It was very nice! How are you doing so far? Have you had a fill? Thank you for all the responses! I hope we can help motivate each other and all of us make it to goal! God Bless! Amy -

What to do While Waiting
irishrose replied to sistasassy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did and they approved me in 3 days. I called the doc's office the day they approved me and bugged them to call the insurance and have the approval letter faxed instead of waiting to get it in snail mail. Should here Monday of my surgery date which should be end of August of 1st week of September. I know it's an old cliche' but "squeaky wheel gets the grease". :-) I wouldn't wait around to hear from anyone, I used to work for an insurance company, I know how they drag their feet. BTW, this is my first post in about a year! :-) -
Hi everyone!! I was wondering if there was anyone here from San Antonio? My husband and I currently live in WA state and are seriously considering moving to TX. My husbands work is opening up a plant in SA and he has put in paperwork for a transfer. Frankly, we are looking for a better life. We hate living paycheck to paycheck and sometimes not even making that! We seem to always be paying the first bill that is threatening to shut us off. I have done quite a bit of research on SA and feel it would be really good move for us. What's the best way to look for a job over there? I would like to have one lined up before we move and not after. Also, I would like to find a nice neighborhood to rent in for awhile. I don't want the stress of trying to buy a house from another state. We are renting here and are not locked in a lease. We want a neighborhood with reasonable rent but don't need HIGH rent. Any info out there at all would be wonderful!! BTW, I know it get's hot. I grew up in the San Joaquin Valley.....115 in the summer and fog in the winter. I'm pretty sure I will be fine. AND, once I can get my band and get the weight off, I know heat won't bother me as much. Thanks guys! Amy

Thank you for the posts!! Anotherme, thanks for the websites. I have been going to monster.com. The Texas workforce site was great! Bswint, thanks for the information. When you say rent is much higher, what do you mean? I currently pay $1012 for a 3 bedroom townhouse. Why are you partial to SA? What about Austin? I personally feel SA is better but want an opinion of someone who has actually been there! Also, I am in the payroll field. Have been doing payroll for over 9 years. The jobs I have seen are only slightly less in pay than I am making here. SO, if I can get one of those jobs, then I will be set. One thing that I think might be a challenge is someone wanting to interview me knowing they will have to wait a few weeks so I can give notice and move. :rolleyes It is looking like my husband will have quite a few opportunities. He missed out on the transfer with his company. However, he really doesn't want to continue doing that the rest of his life (he works for Toyota as a driver). He is a computer guy and there seems to be quite a few opportunities for tech guys. He does not have a degree and it is required here where you can use experience over in SA instead. He's been working on computers for 20 years. Why did you move to Houston? Do you mind if I PM you and talk get some more info? Amy

AMEN! FunnyDuddies!! I would tell them they couldn't see her for awhile. Then, supervised visits. They can't be alone with her until they have proven that they aren't trying to mentally damage your daughter. I'm with all of you, I would be beyond pissed Amy

Beacheegirl, thank you so much for posting the pics and your experience. I have decided to go with Dr. Joya and this makes me want to even more. Not only do I get a great doc, but my hotel stay will be amazing!! What better way to relax than that view?? I REALLY want to be able to do a little sight seeign and shopping. If I stay longer, do you think I can do it? I know everyone is different but I seem to handle pain well. I am in daily pain as it is now with my problems. Now, all I have to do is actually CALL the doc and get financing. :phanvan Hopefully I can. I am praying everyhting goes well. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!! :heh:

:success1: Yep, mine came with the DVD screens, too. I LOVE that feature. That's why I got the green one and plan on selling the Black Cherry. It's better for road trips. My hubby works for Toyota installing options on the vehicles so I didn't pay for any extras. He is installing them for me and it doesn't cost NEAR as much. He is putting the light kit in next. He just got done installing a bazooka tube and new speakers. You're so right about the head turning. :woot: I think they are adorable and I forget that most people think they are weird. So I will see someone staring and I'll think, "why in the world are they staring at me!"

Here are our 3 cars......Can you tell we like them? Mine is the "Envy Green in the background, DH drives the yellow. I have to sell the Black Cherry one though. Need to lose a car payment so I can get the band! Sorry they are so huge!!!!! Someone help!!! :faint:

I can SOOOOOOOO relate, Meow!! I am right there with you:eek: I am 434 lbs :tsk: and my goal is 200 or less. I am also looking into creative financing so if you get some, send 'em my way! :biggrin1: Have you decided on a doc yet? I am going to Dr. Joya in PV, but haven't even started talking with him yet. I need to sell my car and find a money tree somewhere . Know anyone that wants a cute Scion XB?

I am 31 and live in Vancouver, WA. I have been married to a wondeful man for 7 years. I have a 2.5 year old boy/daredevil who gives me gray hair daily. Then again so does my DH!! We have one dog. She is a scottie poo (with a little too much poo) and her name is Ebony. I have yet to be banded, but I have narrowed my search down to Dr. Joya in PV. No date yet because I have to see if I can get financed somewhere. I am very anxious and excited to get my band ASAP so I can get started on my new life. :heh: We do not own our own home but would love too. Housing is getting very expensive in Vancouver and Portland. Josette, we seem to be about the same when it comes to weight loss. I am 6 feet tall and currently weigh 430. Where did you find out what you ideal weight is? I certainly don't believe that I shoudl weight 150!! This thread is a great idea! Nice to meet ya'll!! Amy

:help: Hello everyone! I am new to this message board and have been lurking for quite some time. I have read a TON of posts about Mexico doctors and will be going down there to have surgery done since I am self-pay. The number of docs in Mexico is amazing and I have even resorted to making an excel spreadsheet to try and pick the best one for me. Cost is a big part of it because of self-pay. I know you shouldn't pick one because of cost, but, I firmly believe that you don't have to buy a $800 purse when a $15 purse is just a good and lasts just as long! What I need help with is how to narrow it down. Do all of the Mexico docs offer care for complications? Will they work on you if there are problems with no additional charge? I can find someone to do fills for me up where I live, but am worried about who pays for it if there are problems. Also, has anyone ever USED Dr. Cantu? I found a website about him and would like to hear from someone who actually went to him and doesn't just work for him. Any help or advice or even your experience would be helpful! Thanks! Amy

Hello Everyone, I wanted to thank you all for the information and support. I have been doing research and have it narrowed down to about 4 docs in Mexico. Dr. Joya Dr. Ortiz Dr. Covarrubias (Bajanor) Dr. Rodolfo Sanchez As far as Cantu was concerned, I had never heard "anything" so I thought I would ask. It didn't mean I was going to pick him. Money IS the major concern for me now. Unfortunately for me, I don't have family that cares enough to give and/or loan me the money. I don't have a home I can borrow against. I don't have 401k I can borrow against. The loan companies will only loan you a certain amount based on your credit. They will IN NO WAY loan me the money to see a doc in the US or even Rumbaugh. To some, "just a few more thousand" may not seem like a lot, but for someone like me, it can make or break it. I am so happy for everyone that has found a way and you are truly blessed. I am not going to pick a slum doc just because he is the cheapest. However, I can't pick the best because he IS the most expensive. What good is being thin if I am living on the street and can't pay my bills! As far as aftercare, I have found reasonable rates for fills (about $250) and my insurance WILL care for me if there is a major problem. I have not contacted these four choices personally yet. I am making a list of questions to ask each of them and will make my decisions after I get my questions answered. if anyone can give me some good ideas of questions to ask, I would be very appreciative! Also, if there is anyone out there that has poor credit and was able to get financing, do you mind telling me who you went through? Again, thank you all so much for your help! I am hoping I can have this all figured out soon and joining you in "BandLand"!! Amy

Hi lightnerbride! I know you got the midband. I heard that it is filled with a different solution. Is that correct? Would it be better to go get fills in MX? Why no the SAGB? Thanks. Still deciding on the type of band. Amy

:help: I am trying to decide which band would be better. I think I have made the decision to go with either of these but can't really find much of a difference on them. I already have after care taken care of (thanks lightnerbride! ). There are several docs in Oregon and WA that will care for me later. So, other than picking my doc (MX), I need to decide which band. Any help or posts, good and bad, from bandsters that have either of these would be wonderful!! Thank you so much!! Amy
