I am s SAHM of 3 ds!! I am enjoying my life as mom for the first time in a long time.. I made the decision to get the "old me" back about 2 yrs ago. I had a close friend have Lap-Band done.  I watched her have a little succes and then fall into the "new mommy" comfort zone. She got pregnant 1 yr after lap band.She put off getting re-filled for for 6 monthes. Then decided she didn't want to restrict herself any more. Then I had quit a scare, my mom passed away last summer at the age of 55!! She had her 1st heartattack at 45. My dad died of a heart attack at 45,10 years before that. I was only 10 yrs off from being in serious trouble!! I knew I needed to do something about my weight. Over the last 10 yrs I have gained over 100lbs. It's very easy to just buy new clothes instead of restricting or modified your lifestyle!! I have an amazing husband who never once said anything about me gaining weight. He actually lovs all my curves. I went from a stick , to a hourglass figured woman!! I had always been very thin, maybe too thin. But when you find someone who accepts you for who you are and wants to enjoy everything life has to offer with you, you go along for the ride!!I knew that this maybe a hard thing for him to understand, but he went to the information seminar and sat there throught the whole thole. He asked questions and told me I was making the right decision. I had been looking at the lap band system for almost 1 1/2 yrs at that point.I decided that after the holidays was going to be the start of my new life.. I needed to be here and enjoy life with my whole family!! I wanted to see my kids graduate college and enjoy my granddaughters (I have 3 boys, so I am due for a girl, LOL)So off to the seminar we went. Pen and paper in hand.I met with the staff and found out that my insurance would only cover the procedure if I did 6 months of monitored weight loss. On that day I weighted 299. When I went in the next week for my 1st weigh in, I was 305..I was very upset I had to wait to do this for so long. Well I proceded to lose my 5% and then some..I put in my 6months, got my surgery dat efor 7/29/09..YAY!! I got a call wed. before surgery that the didn't have insurance approval or clearance from my cardiologist. Well that just sent me over the edge!!!!I wanted to go to dairy quenn and get a peanut buster pafait and a large heath blizzard, then go through the mcdonalds drive-thru and get a quater pounder w/cheese and fries!!!! But I didn't, I just cried for a really long time...I found out my cardiologist was out of town for 1 week. so I couldn't see him until the 8/3. I got a call from the bariatric office on 7/28 that my insurance co. approved me... just pour salt on an open wound...When I went into see my cardio. he asked why I had not had surgery yet, I asked him the same thing. After dotting all our I's and crossing all our T's, he gave me the all clear!! I rescheduled my surgery for 8/19/09 and it's ago !! I have all my paperwork and am looking foward to my journey back to me....At this point I am 7 months into this journey and have lost 43lbs... I can not wait to enjoy my life again. to run with my kids and not be out of breath. ride the dragon rollercoaster and not get stuck trying to get in or out of the car. go to disney with my whole family and not have to stop to rest every 15 min. go out and dance my a$@ of with my girlies and not feel like crap after an hour... Boy, I do have some high hopes, LOL.. but I know it's all worth it.. no more cpap machine at night. no inhaler everywhere I go. lower my RA meds. I will keep you all posted...
