How are the banded Notorious Novembers???
bert1 replied to mljalways's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 11/4 and have been doing extremely well. I've lost 10 lbs since then and was able to go on solid food 6 days out of surgery. Had pain first day out but only took the pain meds for two days at night so I could sleep(I'm not sure if I really needed them the 2nd night). Went back to work 3 days after surgery and have been feeling great sense. I do work out at least 4-5 times a week and was able to resume my workout within 5 days, just couldn't do a normal ab workout:scared2: Other than some soreness in the port area every once in awhile I think it's totally worth it:thumbup: My biggest obstacle so far is waiting to long to eat and then eating things to quickly and only getting down small amounts because I didn't chew properly:eek: I was surprised my doc let me go into solids so quickly, I thought I would be on fluids for at least 2-3 weeks after reading most of the blogs. Glad everyone is doing well so far, pretty soon you won't remember any of the pain your feeling now! -

has anyone had to have their band removed after a couple of years and if so were there any complications because of it being on for awhile.:smile2: -

Thanks for the reply, when your band slipped do they have to remove or could they have corrected the slippage and left it on? -

Haven't had the band removed, I'm just going in on 11/4/08 for my banding but was curious since I went through the process quickly if it had to be removed at some point if there were any complications after the fact. Trying to make sure I'm making the right decision since the banding has only been done in this country for a couple of years. Your doing great Keep up the good work:thumbup: -
Can anyone who has had a band on for awhile tell me how many fills approximately you have per year, what they cost and does your insurance normally cover the cost? Thanks:tongue:

Just introducing my self to the group. Getting banded on 11/4 and wanted to get some insight from everyone who already has been banded.

:thumbup:Hi Martxlardy, Thanks for the response, What band are you talking about wearing after surgery, my doc did not tell me anything about that. I'm glad to hear from someone who is close to my age and their recovery time. If you don't mind me asking were you pretty fit before the surgery and how much did you have to lose? I am very active and workout regularly my current weight is 262 and I'm 5'7' hoping to lose 70lbs I'm 52. If I knew how to post this on my sight I wouldn't have to write it every time still working on figuring out how to do that.
