I was taking medication that was time released and the doctor had to write a new prescription for something that was not.....which meant i now take 3 crushed pills instead of 1 non crushed time released pill. Also some pills like Allegra and other allergy medications are time released but I know that claritin has a liquid childrens form but has an adult dosage written on the label. If you are not sure ask your doctor or pharmacist.

I crush mine or take liquid forms of them....... Now if I get sick and go to my primary physician I ask him to make sure whatever he has to give me be liquid or crushable. It is a pain however it is something my lap band doctor told me I had to do so, I just do it. I think it just depends on your doctor...it seems that many different doctors have different ways of doing things.

Hi Beth, I am still learning all of this myself. I had my surgery on 3/23/06 and I just had my 3rd adjustment yesterday. I have lost 42 pounds from March to the beginning of June and then everything stopped however, now that I got another adjustment I have lots of restriction and I think this is gonna work for me. I have enjoyed this forum because it helps to know that some of the things that you are going through, some others are going through the same things.......and I think alot of us have the same goal and that is to be comfortable in our own skin and to be healthier!......that is my goal anyway! If I can be of any help just let me know! Good Luck with your lab band! Terri

I received my band on March 23, I was doing great lost 42 pounds then all of a sudden I was at a major stand still. I have had 2 adjustments and still no weight loss. My doctor tells me it is still not where it should be and I am having another adjustment next week. I am worried that I am eating out of stress and what if the adjustments don't help.....i am in panic mode right now and I just need to know if anyone else has felt like this and will this fear calm down once my band is filled to where it needs to be.

Thankyou everyone for the support. I went today for my 3rd adjustment and I think this is gonna be the one that helps. My doctor said that it was really tight and he said maybe even too tight but he wants me on liquids for 2 weeks to see how it does this tight. I am excited because I drank a low carb slimfast shake about 1 hour ago and it took me along time to drink it and I am still full from it. I am feeling better about this already. Thanks again...........I love this forum it feel like family here!!

Totally blowing it on the supervised diet.

Hi, I had to do the 6 mo. consultations with my Primary care physician also......and guess what..........I had a difficult time trying to stay on a diet because all I could think is that i have been there done this and I am now looking for the big gun..........so, no, I did not lose weight I gained.....and I was afraid they were not going to approve me ........but shortly after everything was sent to them I was approved and had my surgery on March 23rd.............. I tried to just maintain my weight but did gain some during the 6 mo.... i think part of it was due to stress not knowing if I was actually going to get approved.......Hang in there and the 6 mo. will go by fast.......they did for me!!!! Good Luck! -
I was banded on March 23rd and had my first fill on May 17th...only.75 cc in a band that holds more than 5 ccs according to my doctor. After surgery I had alot of restriction and then it went away but it was time for my first fill. Since the fill it really hasn't helped but I am scheduled for another fill June 14th.......my doctor starts out slow.....so, I hope this second fill helps alot more.

Those of you who are banded, do you exercise?
Tearby replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think exercise makes a huge difference for me. I go to Curves 3 to 4 times a week and I love it. There are about 6 of us who go at a specific time and those who knew I had surgery have been a huge support for me. I feel like I have accomplished something when I walk out the door and it is a good feeling. -
I also read the book a few years ago and that book almost made me come undone!!!!.........It depressed me but I couldn't put it down. Just when you thought it couldn't get any more depressing it did . It was an emotionally hard book to read but a book you can't put down because something in you just has to know what happened next.

Why is there never anyone in the LBT Chat Room?????? I think it would be fun and useful to chat back and fourth with people however, it is difficult to do when no one is in there. Is there a time when people usually are in the chat room and I just keep missing them????????

Need some good advice from people that understand.....
Tearby replied to casinocat74's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Theresa, Have you had a fill and if so can you have more and maybe that would make a difference. I have only had my band for 2 and1/2 weeks so I am sill new at all of this. Maybe having a fill would help motivate you. Good Luck with everything. -

Hi Yoda, When I decided to get the band I told my husband I did not want anyone but he and I and my Mom and Dad to know. He did not understand why. I have been over weight my entire life and have lost and gained and gained and lost many times before. For me I feel like people watch to see just what you are gonna eat next. I also had that feeling that people would think that I was weak and took the "easy" way out. Well once my surgery date got closer and closer it was a little impossible to keep it from my husbands family as well as my friends. Once a few people knew it was easier to talk about it to them all. I still feel like if you don't live a live of obesity it is very hard for some people to understand all of this.....however what it comes down to, is how you feel about yourself and what will makes you happy and comfortable with your own life. So basically Yoda I say do what feels comfortable for you and tell people when you are ready for people to know. I wish you the very best!!!!!!!!!

Hi Tipper I got my band 2 weeks ago today and the first week was rough but it just gets better. I was afraid that I might have made a mistake and a million questions went through my mind. But it is something new and most things new and unexplored are always scarry at first. I feel this is gonna be a great tool for me. Also, at first I did not want anyone to know what I was doing because first of all I didn't want people to think I was a failer and just couldn't follow a simple diet.........my husband however set me straight about that .. ha ha....he told me that if it was something that I felt strong about and it was something that I wanted to do for me then, it did not matter what anyone else thought about it. I think it is a personal choice on who you tell but eventually many people found out what I was doing and everyone was supportive..........and it always helps to have extra support. Keep your chin up and try to be positive ......and in my oppinion this will be like most things ....you will get out of it what you put into it. Good luck!!!!!!

Hi everyone, I received my lap band 2 weeks ago today. Since beginning the preop liquid diet March 9th I have lost 26 pounds. I began pureed/soft food today and it amazes me that so far I do not have an appetite at all. I believe that this band is gonna be a very smart choice for me.
