    Start Over

Hello all, It's been 4 years since my surgery. I initially lost almost 60lbs. I am now heavier than I was because I know how to eat despite the tightness of my band. I want to start over, anyone else fall off the bandwagon this bad? I am so tired of being FAT.

    Start Over

Thanks for the encouragement. I did see my surgeon a few months ago because my PCP recommended it. I'm going to start today.
  3. Had my surgery 3 years ago. Lost over 50 lbs in less than 3 months. 3 years later I have gained it all back and added severe depression to the problem. I was too embarrassed to go back to Dr Fisher office. My PCP made a referral and an appt for me a few weeks ago. I got it tightened and am having to really re-learn how to eat. I have been doing ok the past 2 weeks. Lots of vomitting because I am not chewing enough or whatever. Last night I started to eat a steak and rice burrito. It was huge. I knew I'd get a few bites in and have to wrap it up and save it for today. OMG- I ate almost the whole thing. Dr Fisher said I need to learn to eat real food and not just drink shakes. He said that for long term success you need to learn to eat filling foods in moderation. These past two weeks I've been eating lots of soups and small salads. Also very small portions of real food. It's all I can get down. I hope last night was some kind of fluke. I have no idea what I weigh or what I weighed when he tightened the band. ( I stood on the scale backwards). My pants feel a little loose, not much. However, Dr Fisher also said I should only loose 1 to 1 1/2 pounds a week. I want FAST gratification. So, somedays I am hopeful for success. I HATE being fat. I'm 6ft tall and last I weighed is about 280. I have sleep apnea and take 5 pills everyday. I take Effexor XR, Bupropion, lisinopril, levothiroxine, and a water pill. For those of you unfamiliar with those it's: depression, depression/anxiety, high blood pressure, hypothyroid, and diuretic for water retention. I will be attending the support group at Penrose on May 15. This will be my first time.
  4. So Jen, after 3 years and gaining all my lost weight back (50 lbs) I had my band tightened 2 weeks ago. I do notice I have a very hard time eating in the morning!! And in the evening, when I'm most ravenous, I can get more food down! I also am eating a lot of what you call slider foods. Why is it that chocolate and ice cream go down with ease, but chicken breast comes back up with a vengeance! :-(

WHY are people voting for McCain?

I voted for McCain/Palin because I believe in their mission for our country. I also believe he is the only qualified candidate. )

    Hello from Colorado!!!

Hi all, I'm from the Springs too! Dr. Fisher is also my surgeon. I have my nutrition eval and psych eval Nov 4th. I'm hoping my surgery will be before the end of the year as my insurance will pay 100%. If not, my $3K deductable kicks in again in Jan. I've only met Dr. Fisher once, but he seems really nice. I'm so nervous, but am soooo excited at the same time. Any advice is greatly appreciated. :grouphug:
