My surger is Tmrow!!!! SCARED!!!!
54Shirley replied to kimbrown27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It;s not bad ! The Kidney stone removal might have been more painful. (depending on how it was done,) Remember it's like a small belt with a balloon that fits on like a zip tie. I have had Dental work that was far more painful.... That is the truth too! You will be fine. Just remember as you are going in to the surgery room that now you are ready for your new life ! When you wake up, it begins ! So good health to you, and looking forward to hearing from you. Just asking,,,,, Have you seen it on youtube? If not you might want to see it. It is interesting. I made sure I watched a tape given to me from Lap Band threw my Dr... I wanted to see what I was getting in to. Glad I did. Shirley -
Buy a couple of SHAKER BOTTLES at any Health store, Even Walmart sells them, They are not all that expensive, and you can take them anywhere. You measure out your Protein powder, say 2 scoops per 8 oz. Water. Put the protein in a zip lock sandwich baggie, then put that in the shaker bottle, Then at lunch add your water first, then the powder, and shake, and enjoy'

How long did it take to get restriction?
54Shirley replied to LosingItAll's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I say it is a step by step process. Which means fill after fill until you get to a point where you are not hungry for 5- 5 1/2 hrs. that's the normal range. So you have to understand, until you get a fill probably every 6 weeks, on the in between if you are still hungry,,, you have to stick to your calorie plan. Journal your calories, and keep seeing your surgeon. He/She will make the decision on how your doing, and your calorie intake, and how often you eat. So hang in there and remember protein helps take the edge of hunger. (for a while). -
haven't had a fill yet
54Shirley replied to tegan4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You don't want to hurt your surgery ! That's why you are to eat certain foods. I know your hungry, but once you start getting fills, your hunger will slowly go down, This takes time..... fill after fill, and it will keep getting better. trust me.... But it takes time. So get back on track o.k.... -
What were YOUR favorite mushies???
54Shirley replied to Ssauce74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
sugar free puddings, yogurt, cottage cheese. I make a low cal salad for the Holiday's, and people love it try this, just cut the recipe in 1/2. Shirley's HOLIDAY SALAD. 2small packs jejjo (FLAVOR IS UP TO YOU) 1 quart of cottage cheese 12 oz. cool whip 1 can crushed pineapple (large) Drain the pineapple. Put the Jello in a bowl and add cool whip (DO NOT ADD Water TO JELLO !) when well blended, and jello is dissolved, add the cottage cheese, and stir. Fold in the pineapple, cover and chill overnight. O M G it is Delicious. Now you all know it. If someone makes it,, let me know what you think. Great Pot Luck Dish also. Shirley -
I do this every now and then, and it's Delicious ! Take your favorite vanilla Protein drink (MUSCLE MILK MAKES A VANILLA CREAM THAT IS GOOD !) Go to the store and buy your favorite sugar free INSTANT (only) pudding, Add some to your drink, and stir until it has thickened, and you have the taste you want. VERY, VERY GOOD!

How to take crushed pills without tasting them?
54Shirley replied to kcharr77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used sugar free pudding. take a spoon or 1/2 spoon whatever soot's your taste "no pun intended" , put your crushed pill into that, then take another spoon of pudding. Use a swallow or 2 of Water to help wash it down, if it's that bad. That's what I did. Hope it helps. Shirley -
Doctor Scale and Home Scale - which is correct?
54Shirley replied to healthyroad69's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's a whole different matter, and yes you should scale daily. -
Help, I'm scared!
54Shirley replied to kovi2eliana1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First of all,,, take a deep breath, and relax... This is not that bad, in fact in most cases if you follow your Dr.'s orders,,,, it works ! There are some people that suffer complications. You have to understand that this is a device that can fail ! On the other hand, it's up to you if you want it replaced or not. Some people get updated frequently. But the majority don't need to. Yes there is pain in following surgery. But your surgeon will make sure you get pain pills. The weight will not just fall off, you have to work at it. "USE THIS TOOL" Protein is a must, Low Carbs. is a must, CALORIE INTAKE JOURNALED is a definite must, some type of exercise program is a must, and last "in my books" is chin up ! This is not easy, and you need to be positive to do this. It's hard when your hungry, but Protein shakes will help tame the hunger beast. So remember you mean a lot to you ! Or you wouldn't be doing this. You Matter ! I can't tell you to not change your mind ! (I'M NOT A DR.) But you know deep inside what is best for you. Go with your instinct, is my suggestion. Sorry to read about your losses. But your still hear, and you might even get off some Meds. when you have lost weight. I know that matters, because at one time I was getting on to many pills, and I said NO WAY ! Do to WLS I never had to get on to many pills. I take 2 a day, and that's enough for me. Good Luck with your Decision, and Good Health to you, Shirley. -

Doctor Scale and Home Scale - which is correct?
54Shirley replied to healthyroad69's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The Dr. scale is correct. Those made in CHINA,,, junks, well, I don't even own one... I wait until I go to my Dr., get weighed, and we are usually both very happy. :0) So when people ask me do you weigh yourself daily or weekly. I don't bother at all. I can tell buy my close slowly getting loser. Just a tip if you don't want to drive yourself up the wall. It worked for me that way, but I'm sure a lot of people will disagree. Even my surgeon was glad that I relied only on a Dr.'s scale. He told me every month or so they have a scale company come out and check, then adjust the scales to the weights that they bring out. Hope this makes a difference to you. Shirley. -

54Shirley replied to Yasuna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a step by step program. Every time you get a fill, it is a step closer to where you no longer crave foods to extremes. My doc's P. A. said that if your hungry every couple of hours,,, it's time for a fill. I have had a fill last e 6 hrs. and not hungry at all. But to get to that point it is fill after fill. So be patient, and do what your Doc tells you. You don't want to chomp into a burger, and be stuck. That is know fun. Good Luck to you, and your research. Shirley. -
Did anyone's BCBS cover them with a low BMI?

I'm not going to get in a war over Vitamins either. Flintstones with CHOLINE are not the same as Flintstone chewables. Google choline and see what you get.. It helps keep the Fat of the LIVER, we all need that. Yes it is chewable, but there is a big difference. Choline is a water-soluble essential nutrient.[1][2][3][4][5] It is usually grouped within the B-complex vitamins. Choline generally refers to the various quaternary ammonium salts containing the N,N,N-trimethylethanolammonium cation. The cation appears in the head groups of phosphatidylcholine and sphingomyelin, two classes of phospholipid that are abundant in cell membranes. It also becomes the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.

How unsightly are the incisions?
54Shirley replied to NJGirl32's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For a moment I thought you were vane..... They are not big at all, just some small holes, and mine has about a 2" long looks "like s slit" not quite a scar because he closed it from the inside. Anyway thats where he put the port in at. -
That's me,,, Shirley. I hope this sums it up. i AM LOOKING FOR A SURGEON TO REMOVE THIS PIECE OF JUNK ! ! I GOT ON THE PHONE TODAY WITH THE PERSON IN CHARGE "DR. HASN'T GROWN A PAIR YET !" THEY TOLD ME THE REASON FOR MY FAILURE WAS BECAUSE I KEPT EATING Cookies, AND CAKE. DENIED NICOTENE,ALCHAOL,AND CAFFEINE, AND HE DID EVERYTHING OCCORDING TO THE BOOK. SO THE BAND DID NOT BLOW IN HIS OFFICE. SO I TOLD MY SIDE "THE TRUTH !" HE NEVER EVEN BOTHERED TO CHECK ME IF I COULD SWOLLOW BY OFFERING ME A GLASS OF WATER! HE CLAIMS HE DID, BUT I WENT HOME AND TRIED TO SWALLOW Water,AND COULDN'T, SO I WENT BAK. HE CLAIMS I ATE A BOLOGNA SANDWICH, IT GOT STUCK, SO HE TOOK THE FILL OUT???????????? ARE YOU SERIOS,,, I GET A FILL, AND I AM GOING TO GO HOME AND EAT A SANDWICH... NOT TO MENTION WHO CAN EAT BREAD? I SURE CAN'T. HE COVERED HIS A** SO BAD IT WAS PATHETIC. I KEPT TO MY JOURNAL, LET'S NOT FORGET A KEY THING THOUGH... I LOST 100LBS. BEFORE I EVEN SEEN HIM, THEN ABOT 20LBS. WITH THE BAND. I DON'T SMOKE, DON'T DRINK,AND CAFFIENE KILLS MY STOMACH, SO I DON'T USE IT. AS YOU CAN SEE, I ALWAYS SAID " GEE AT THIS RATE, I'M A CHEAP DATE" I STUCK TO MY PLAN THE BEST I COULD, AND I GOT SCREWED RIGHT UP THE A** ! SO NOW i WANT THIS OUT. IF YOU KNOW OF SOMEONE IN NORTHERN, MICHIGAN THAT WOULD TAKE THIS OUT, PLEASE RESPOND. THOSE OF YOU THAT I SAID PLEASE BE CAREFUL ABOUT YOUR DECESION.... AFTER ALL THE LIES THAT THEY USE TO COVER THEMSELVES, SO THAT IF THERE IS A PROBLEM, THEY ARE COVERED TO THE MAX ! ! I WOULD SAY SERIOUSLET THINK TWICE. LIKE YOU, I WOULD NEVER THINK THAT THIS WOULD HAPPEN TO ME. WELL IT DID,, AND HE COVERED HIS TRACKS, AND COULD CARE LESS. HE'S ONLY INTERESTED IN THE MONEY. This is a post of mine. After this posted it was about a couple hours later, that a new surgeons office called me and said they would see me. I got a fill in the hospital (NOTHNG WRONG WITH THE BAND), and I meet him next week. A little nervous. He trained under my old surgeon. I think he contacted him, and said do me a favor,,,,,, Or,,, some luck !

I know where your coming from. The problem is you are detoxing too (in a sense) You have to get use to being hungry until you can really drink some good Protein Shakes which help kill hunger. I have a post up for Muscle Milk Light. Just look around and it's there $5.99 a Jug (THAT"S DAMN CHEAP !) If you want some help with the drinks. Go to ebay and pick some up.25 of Protein, and only 195 Calories. It's good stuff too. That's were I buy my supplies from, and I'm sticking to it. I been on Muscle Milk for 5 yrs... So it's not a flash in the pan. Here's good advice, the rest is up to you. Shirley. Go to Member id ivydeals

You can pay out of pocket at a FILL CENTER. You will have to google fill center usa and put in your zip code. then see if any are available in your state. If not keep looking around for a surgeon in your area. I moved too, and that's what I had to do.
-
WOWWW ! ! ! I don't know about that,,,, but I sure will try to shine. Thank You... Shirley.
