Another site is caloriecounter.com If you play around on it enough, you will find what looks good to you. Also,,, I found one before that had restaurants on it. So look around.

Your Welcome, and enjoy the results.

Everyone is different right? Well the younger you are, the better chance your elasticity is still there in your skin. Which means with a lot of exercise it might get into shape. If not,,, and your Dr. says it is Medically Necessary, Ins. should cover it.. I am older, and elasticity is shot. Gravity long took over. So I guess it will be Medically Necessary for me.

For starts cut that in half. Go on CalorieKing, and type in the foods you like. You will either get a serving size or 4 oz. or you can measure it at onces. It keeps everything in Memory, and it will give you your protein too. This is a good start.

I disagree about the Muscle Milk Light. Like I said it is very low in sugar. For that reason it is also recomended to By-Pass patients, to avoid DUMPING.
-
I have used MUSCLE MILK and MUSCLE MILK LIGHT for almost 5 years now. I buy my stuff on ebay. I shop for good prices, and with the price of gas the way it is... They can deliver it. Also has a lot of different flavors to choose from. My old Surgeon still recommends MUSCLE MILK LIGHT. It is so low in sugar, that even by-pass patients can use it, and not have to worry about the DUMPING SYNDROME. It's made with Water. 195 cal., and 25G of Protein for 8 oz. shake.

Wish you the best ! you are very lucky that they are replacing it with another band. My original surgeon switches to By-Pass.

avoid caffeine/ and carbonation
54Shirley replied to options123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told no caffeine & no carbination at all. -
For starts if you want to burp, either drink some warm watter, or tea. Keep sipping and drinking until you feel it drop into your stomach. This can take a while, but it will either go down or come up. You will have to repeat the drinking until you are clear, and then you will start burping. I would get on shakes for a day do to the swelling. If you ever have doubts, or it last for a 1/2 hr. and no luck. Go to a Hospital.

If you want,, Go on ebay, and buy a vitamix. Mine is the 500, so it has over 500 speeds.... Someone in our family passed away a while back, and they had ordered the original Magic Bullet. It was in this Ginormous Box So I sold it on Craigslist for $40.00. This person was the first one to open this box. She looked and thought about it for 15 minutes. There had to be about $80.00 - $100.00 worth of stuff in there that was of no use to me at all. So she bought it, and I said Good Luck. To this day I would still rather have the Vitamix. If you pick up a vintage one. You can make Ice Cream, Sorbet, Juicer, almost anything you can think of. And yes it makes awesome shakes.

Is this common?
54Shirley replied to healthyroad69's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
But their is water in that mixture. Say 50%. so if you drink a 11oz. shake say 5 oz was water. Trust me.... This all adds up. -
6 months of supervised diet?
54Shirley replied to Randiscan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you don't mind to much,,,,, let me give you a good piece of advise. Your Doc. put you on a certain amount of calories a day right. Even though Protein is the best for you, you can have some carbs ! It's actually a kicker for the protein. Also with the Band.. If you want,,,, you can eat almost anything (SOME PEOPLE DO). As long as you stay by your calorie intake. If you see weight not falling off, you might decide :maybe I'll give up the cookies" and you might lose weight. The whole thing is up to you. But NO POP at all !!!! The carbination in your pouch is enough to kill you. -
I am really afraid!

Remember It's a fill after fill process......
-
The first fill locks the band in place. Even if it is a big one you might not feel different at all. A lot of places set you up for visitation every 6 - 8 weeks for another fill. Remember,, this is a fill after fill process. It will take time to get where you want to be. In the meant time Protein will help tame down the hunger. So it's up to you to control. Protein will help.

Is this common?
54Shirley replied to healthyroad69's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Whenever you drink a shake or soup, or anything made with water. You measure that water, and put that twords your 64oz of water, Because it is your water consumption. A lot of people think that besides the shakes, you still have to get in all that water. Not So , my surgeon explained to me. He said not only will you feel miserable, you'll float away... So count that water. It will make a difference. I put a 64oz bottle in my fridge every night, and the next day I use it for everything. If I have any left over, I drink a glass, or have hot tea or soup. My surgeon loved that Idea, he said he was going to tell all his patients to do this. Check with your surgeon. -

I am really afraid!
54Shirley replied to tinamichael's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First of all,,, take a deep breath O.K... Because I am going to explain a few things to you to try to ease your anxiety (WHICH IS TOTALY NORMAL!) 1 you won't die on the table. That's old school. Yes it can happen: Maybe if you are elderly, and have a breathing or Heart Condition. Even then,,, they know what to do for you. Your Anesthesiologist will be in the room watching all the gauges, keeping control of your Meds. (HE WILL ALSO BE IN CONSTANT TOUCH WITH YOUR SURGEON) If your surgeon says I'm closing, you can start to take her off. That's what he will do. So believe me when I tell you You will do just fine. My surgeon couldn't do you if you were over 500lbs. Reason : Table wouldn't hold up. So these guys have done some big people, and they make it through. Failing: you really don't have to worry about. Once they start with the fills. FILL AFTER FILL, one step at a time. The hunger beast will be gone. That will take a little time, so in the meantime you drink, and eat Protein to cut your hunger. And yes it works. You will be given a certain amount of calories that you can have in a day. Your work is to try to stick to it. liquids are hard, but you have come this far, so I'm sure you can do it. We all had to. MUSCLE MILK LIGHT is some good stuff, that's what I have used for almost 5 yrs.. There is a lady on ebay that sells it for $5.99 a jug "that's cheap" Just type in MUSCLE MILK and the light will come up, then look for the price, and you have her. In the meantime compare prices too. Think of all the fun you will have with your son, For starts 6 months, for sure 1 year If you stick to it, and you will... Yes you will be here for him, don't worry about that. Cause yes you will be here. With the sugar problem gone in time "possibly" you will feel better too. Head Hunger ! If you have to GULP down a Quart of Water. That will kill your itch. Or a Protein shake will help, but don't go over your calories. I hope this helps ease your Anxiety. Trust me you will do fine. Everyone does. Shirley. -

54Shirley replied to Dibley Dawn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since your in the mood to spend money on Protein Shakes. Keep this in mind. Go to ebay, and type in MUSCLE MILK, their LIGHT will also show up, that's what you want. Look for a lady selling Jugs of MUSCLE MILK LIGHT for $5.99. She updates frequently and it is in flavors. strawberry Milkshake is one of them that she carries, and it's good stuff. 195 CAL. 25G of Protein. That's who I go threw. Also look around, and compare prices. Shirley. -
