About 6 hours to go...let the journey begin

Good Health to you, and you will do great ! As far as failure,,,, Listen when they start to fill that band, you won't be able to eat 1/2 of what you would normally eat. So failure is not a option. Just do what you are told to do, and it will go fine.. Welcome to BANDLAND ! -
I agree ! Shirley.

Trying this 1 more time. Today I meet my new Surgeon for the first time.

Yep it's a oldie but a goodie. He was glad to take me on as a patient. I lost 2lbs since last Thursday. So Boop oop a Doop ! I am doing just fine. I am wright on track 1 - 2lbs a week is fine by me. So I am dieting with a window between 800 - 1200 Cal. a day, and 60 - 70G of Protein a day. That is working for me. I got a small fill So I have 2.75cc in a 4cc Band. I feel good restriction also Yes he was telling me what a pain in the A*s he was to work for, Excellent Chief of Bariatrics Surgeon. But a bad Attitude if something doesn't go his way. We laughed about that. I go back in 4 weeks. I guess he wants to see how i'm doing as a patient. As far as weight Loss. That turtle is slowly moving. -
If that happens to me somewhere down the road. I would be delighted...

Hope it helped, and your welcome, Shirley

O.K. I do things different, and it works. As long as I stay between 800 -1200 calories a day I am fine. I measure all my foods, and count my calories. When I eat, my surgeon tells me I'm just to sensitive. My port would be extremely painful if I ate 4oz without drinking. So I have to drink. Mushies I can handle, but real food is way to painful. So I eat some, and drink some to wash it down until I finish my meal. I don't get hungry in between, so I'm still doing the calorie thing successfully. But I can't drink cold stuff, my throat closes up. I have run into a few people like myself, and just like me, we thought we were all alone. But not so.

1 to 2lbs. a week is the norm they say. But some time we lose inches instead of pounds, and sometimes we stop losing for a while, and then it picks up again. So there is no rule written in stone that works. Just keep trying one day at a time. Then tomorrow is a new day, and you start all over again. Don't get hung up on the weight loss ! It will happen, the same way it went on. All in time. Shirley.

I totally understand that kind of thinking.

I have even been judged on the Internet ! Because I have been banded for almost 5 yrs., and they see my ticker, and say (WHAT? HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN BANDED?/ AND YOU LOST WHAT?) They have not walked in my shoes. I have already been where some of them are trying to get to. But yet I don't crack off at them ! Some of them are full of Bologna. So don't take it to hard, cause it can be everywhere. That came as a shock to me, but,,,,, I see what they see too. So I would wonder about it, probably look at it as a ticker mistake. But that's better then hearing someone sound off ! Chin Up! Keep your head up, and be proud of yourself. Because you know what you have done to try to be better in life. I give you credit for that.
-
For sure ! you just don't feel it until you eat. Get a tall glass of warm water or tea, and drink slowly. It will either go threw or come up, but you have to keep drinking to make sure you are clear. You'll know when your open all the way.

Here is a good salad for the Holiday. I call it a HOLIDAY SALAD. ! Large can of crushed pineapple drained 2 small boxes of Jello Green or Red is nice for Easter (NO Water AT ALL) 1 large cottage cheese 12 oz. Cool Whip or off Brand. Drain your pineapple first, leave it till time to add, and it will drain out just fine. Pour the jello in a bowel, and add the cool whip to it. Stir about5 minutes till totally dissolved. Add the cottage cheese to it, then stir in the pineapple. Chill overnight, then serve. Delicious ! You can cut this in half if you want, and it's not to high in calories. It will keep 3 or 4 days. Makes a excellent Pot Luck Dish too. Shirley.

One Question if you don't mind. The substitute that you take. (FORGOT THE NAME) Does it come in flavors? Because through the Light, I have a wide variety to choose from. Just want to know if it's the same with yours in case I venture out to take a look. No Debate or War over a Protein Drink. Just a difference in the wording.

Oh My Gosh! Surgery in about 12 hours
54Shirley replied to sandy1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi and Congratulations! -
I use warm water, but I chew small, so it usually goes down. It can come up for sure, but that's better then throwing up, or coughing up for a 1/2 hr. or so. I know what your talking about, but truth is every day is different, and it might happen some day. So you need to have a plan that works for you . I relax myself, because tension won't help, then keep sipping warm water, until it drops down. That usually works for me. But like I said,, It can come up. Remember chew, chew, chew.

Clothe sizes have sure changed :0)
54Shirley replied to 54Shirley's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank You very much gMommy. I'm looking forward to a change. So yes I imagine it to be nice, but I still don't believe it. It's hard for me to ever see the real weight loss, it looks like a dream to me. I know it's real, I can tell by the sizes, but I just don't feel it. Maybe when I wear it this summer it will click. But for now in Michigan we are under white out conditions, with 4 - 8" of snow..... So I guess I'm not thinking much about it. I don't know of a site were cloths can be swapped for other sizes. But it is a very good idea. Shirley. -

I brought down my summer cloths to swap out my winter cloths here in Michigan. I found some Capri's that I wore last summer that were to big. Now yes they tie, so I could have looked like I was wearing a potato sack this summer , but,,,,, I don't think so. So I dug a little deeper in my box, and found summer cloths from when I lost weight the first time. I'm glad I kept all of them. I went from a size 32 to a 22/24. Now some people are starting at where I ended up. But what a difference in looks, and nice colors instead of Black, Grey, and Navy. I found Yellows, Mint, Khaki, and well you get the idea. They look nice. Just thought I would share the good news instead of vent. -
The Henry Ford Hospital has the Monopoly on Bariatric surgery. Yes it will be 5 yrs. this October, and I lost over 120lbs. on MUSCLE MILK LIGHT. You keep saying MUSCLE MILK, and I am talking about the LIGHT. I had problems with what they thought was a blown band. I also moved, so I had to find a new Surgeon, who I will meet on Thursday. He also trained at HF under the Chief Surgeon. "My Surgeon" Yes 195 Cal. is the total, and 25G. Protein to 8 ounce shake. I checked with a fellow patient who is a member of their Centennial Club for people who have lost over 100lbs in 1 year, and she said that they are definitely still suggesting the Light to all their patients Because It is low in Cal., High in Protein, and Low in sugar for all patients. That works for me. Check Your Whey Product for sugars, we are told that to much of them daily can be fattening. See this for yourself. Remember it is a suppliment. CytoSport Muscle Milk Light 1.65lb vanilla Cream CytoSport has been overwhelmed by the amazing success of Muscle Milk. If there has been one repeated request, it's "Make Muscle Milk with less fat and fewer calories, but keep the SAME GREAT MUSCLE MILK TASTE!" Well… we heard you. Introducing Muscle Milk Light – Same Great Performance – Same Great Taste – 1/3 the FAT and 44% FEWER CALORIES than original Muscle Milk. Muscle Milk Light is scientifically designed for individuals who want to maximize lean muscle gains while reducing caloric intake to help with weight management or weight loss. Maintaining healthy blood sugar levels is the key to responsible weight control. Snack cravings and low energy levels are often the result of poor blood sugar management. With proper management, you don't have to sacrifice how you feel while you change how you look. * 25g protein * Over 50% of total from energy sustaining lean muscle supporting, high quality protein * 44% fewer calories than Original Muscle Milk * Same great taste Nutrition FactsServing Size 2 scoop(s)Servings Per Container 15 Amount Per Serving Calories195 Calories From Fat50 Total Fat6gSaturated Fat2.5gCholesterol5mgSodium115mgPotassium620mgTotal Carbohydrate11gDietary Fiber1gSugars2gProtein25gVitamin A1750IUVitamin C21mgVitamin D140IUVitamin E11IUThiamin.5mgRiboflavin.6mgNiacin7mgVitamin B6.7mgFolate140mcgVitamin B122.1mcgBiotin105mcgPantothenic Acid4mgCalcium600mgIron6mgPhosphorus350mgIodine53mcgMagnesium140mcgZinc5mgCopper.7mgChromium108mcgIngredients: EvoPro™(Micellar Alpha And Beta Caseins And Caseinates, Whey Concentrates Rich In Alpha-Lactalbumin, Whey Isolates, Whey Peptides, L-Glutamine, Taurine, Lactoferrin), Maltodextrin, Lean Lipids™(Trans Fat Free Lipid Complex Consisting Of Canola Oil, Sunflower And/Or Safflower Oil, MCT's, L-Carnitine), CytoVite I™ (Vitamin And Mineral Premix Consisting Of Vitamin A Acetate, Cholecalciferol, D-Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate, Ascorbic Acid, Folate, Thiamin Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Niacinamide, Pyridoxine HCL, Cyanocobalamin, Biotin, Pantothenic Acid, Di-Calcium Phosphate, Potassium Iodide, Potassium Chloride, Ferrous Fumarate, Magnesium Oxide, Copper Gluconate, Zinc Oxide, Chromium Nicotinate), Fructose, Natural And Artificial Flavors, Acesulfame Potassium, Cellulose Gum, Xanthan Gum, Carrageenan, Sucralose, Soy Lecithintients

Wrapping My Brain around this
54Shirley replied to Dibley Dawn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The good point about chocolate, and carbs. ,,, is they are only a addiction. It will stop. You can shop around for a good protein drink that is chocolate, and still get your buzz. LOL I wouldn't invest in carnation Instant Breakfast as a Protein Drink. It is a Breakfast substitute. You need a good protein Shake.
