Before you jump out of the frying pan wright into the Fire, ask your surgeon "WHAT IS LONGIVITEY WITH THE SURGERY?" I did, and he just smiled, and said "WE DON'T KNOW ! IT HAS NOT BEEN AROUND THAT LONG, SO THAT WE WOULD HAVE DOCUMENTATION." Well I am going to be honest, and cut no corners with you, and speak in English so that who ever reads this, understand this. Everyone that I new that had By Pass Surgery is now in the GROUND, They had a problem with Malabsorption, and as a result in the long run died from starvation, some had medical issues, and the medicine could not be absorbed, and have died. Even a cousin of mine who was in the Hospital frequently getting Iron Infusions, has died because she was never hungry, just nauseated, As a result she like the rest starved. I went to a funeral parlor and seen the body of someone that my neighbor new, she was all bones, I thought Cancer... He broke down, and told me that they new each other since kindergarten, and that people were always down on her because she was heavy. (I HAD SEEN THIS BEFORE, AND NOT A NEW STORY AT ALL.) She had the Bypass, and it killed her. That was just last year. So I would definitely get it in writing then when they cut out 25" of Intestines, and re route your guts, that you will live a long healthy life. Not just that you will be Medication Free, and you will get thinner faster. So do your Homework ! If 1 Red Flag goes up in you. Don't do it.

That's Impossible ! No surgeon would even allow you to go back to work ! If you tear yourself, You will end up in a Hospital anyway. You don't need a Hernia with that type of job. Lifting is out the question then, for most people permanently. I know it took 3 surgeries for my surgeon to finally dig it out. Still No Heavy Lifting for LIFE ! You would e better off if you took some vacation time, or told them that you have a medical condition at home that is going to need some time. Maybe they will give you some time off if you don't want anyone to know. Or tell them the Appendix has got to go. That is understandable, and will not effect your employment. I don't know what you are thinking, but go to you tube and watch the surgery, maybe then you will understand that this affects a lot of your insides. My surgeon had me on the table from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m... As he looked around, he found the Lymph Nodes in my Groin swollen, and filled with Blood. He figured Cancer, and was ready to close me up. Well he froze one, cut it out, and sent it to the Lab. Came back normal! Then the same to the other one, and it to was normal. Then he DUG out a HERNIA, Then he did my band. Trust me, I didn't barely feel the band. but,,, I still took care of the surgery on that band. Because it is a must ! That's the bottom line... In the RED ZONE which is where you never want to be. You can't even swallow spit. If that happens you will be on your way back to your Surgeon for sure. So after he fills you, make sure to drink a nice size glass of water. They want to see it go down to, this way they know that your not to tight.

No because it's empty. That's why your Hungry. Drink Protein shakes, they help kill the HUNGER BEAST ! Once you start getting filled it will make a small difference. This is a fill by fill experience. Each time it gets a little better. Don't give in or up. Do some Protein, and it should help. Shirley.

Yep ! All of the above. So I do 60-80G of protein a day. Never had a problem, and Protein kills HUNGER.... Remember that.

I buy mine on ebay. I look for MUSCLE MILK LIGHT (any flavor except their chocolate. It's Lousy) I like their strawberry Milkshake, Chocolate Milk, Cookies n Creme, Peanut Butter Chocolate, and Vanilla Creme. I shop around for a decent price. I have a lady that I go through for $5.99, for a 1 1/2Lb. JUG. That is dirt cheap.. I have been emailing her but no response, so she must be on vacation, and I want some Strawberry Milkshake. I guess I'll have to wait till she gets back. She's a good business person too. Good luck looking, but try some tasty stuff to, not just chocolate. Everyone tells me their sick of Chocolate.. Well I would be too. That's why I mix my selections up. Shirley.

If it calls for 8oz. of Water, thin it out by using 10oz. Still the same amount of Protein. On the flip side use 4oz. water mix in a desert dish, and freeze. You will have a pudding. Hope this helps.

I moved, and made a switch, but it wasn't easy. Nobody wants to touch someone else's work... That's what they told me. By surprise the new Dr. that I have was a student of my old surgeon..... That alone was a trip. We talked about my surgeon for a while, and what a pain in the *ss he is with his attitude. So he said were not like that,, and there not. So my surgery was Great, and my follow up care is now Great too. I am Glad he took me on as a patient.

I will be glad when I get down to a size 18. Then I can ask for cloths for myself ! I'll need it. I will donate these huge cloths to the neighborhood free store. These women are retired up where I live, so they are some B I G Girls, that are retired or whatever. But there are no big girl shops up here. So it will be handy for them. I will keep a pair for remembrance. By the time I would regain all that weight (AND I WONT !) The cloths would be long out of style..

A friend of mine has just got a job in a ASSISTED living Home, and she doesn't have anything to wear. We worked in a factory together, so she has nothing,,, here in Michigan. If you want to get rid of them, I know someone who could use them. Or if you want, list them in a yard sale with size, and I'm sure you'll sell. Let me know, and I will have to get her address. I was told by my surgeon, and physical therapist that exercise (LIKE POLATISE) is the only thing that works. Provided that you have not already lost the elasticity in your skin. Usually in us older people.

Once you are banded, either don't chew gum, and try tic tacs instead. Also ask your surgeon about it.

First of all your Surgeon will tell you how many calories a day he wants you to eat, this is for life. He will also tell you to exercise, this to is for life. If you listen to your surgeon you won't fail ! You will be a success story instead. Right now, it's a case of nerves getting in there, and a lot of what if's.... Do your research, talk to the people, talk to your Dr., find out information that you need answers to. Also if it does not work, it's removable. But I don't see that happening... Once you start losing weight, your going to love it. Just learn from the people that have been here and done that, and the professionals. So pay good attention, and learn, because it's a everyday learning experience. Shirley.

I went to my PCP the other day, and she was impressed with the WL. She said "CAN I SEE YOUR PORT?' She couldn't find it... It has all faded so much that I was looking for it, then found it for her to see. Almost 5 yrs. since surgery, and you can barely see it. I would say easily about 90% vanished.

That is FANTASTIC ! It just shows that, even though it's harder for us to lose weight,,,, it can still be done.... A big congrats ! again. Shirley.

Yes ! big time,,, the weather will affectect the band, so will stress, like argueing. If you can,,, stay on liquids for a couple days, so you don't swell up. Rule is 3days liquid, 1 day mushies, then try food. (THIS IS ANYTIME THEY ADJUST YOUR BAND.)

Do me a favor..... On the pre band page, you will find my Journal #s 1,2, and 3. This is my true story of myself. Now do to a Dr.'s mistake (NOTHING MAJOR) it cost me almost all the weight. So now,, I'll do it again ! I have a new Surgeon, who was his student, but moved into Northern, Michigan from Detroit. He's a nice guy. Anyway take a look at them in order, and let me know what you think. Shirley.

Have you ever had it checked under Fluoroscope? This way they will take a look at it, and you will see it to. They can tell you if anything is wrong with the Band, and get you right at your fill line, while they watch it going in, and see where to stop, Results a perfect fill. In time maybe a little tweak, but before you go under the knife, maybe you can have this done, and you will know if it's not good, or needs complete adjustment.. It is painless, so you know. It's worth the shot.

I have 5 Holes for the rods, and 1 incision about 1 1/2 inches long for the Port.
