BMI of 34.1, TRICARE STANDARD, MEM MED IN SAV WON'T SEE ME
54Shirley replied to faithwade's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would do what some of the people on this site have done. I would put on ankle weights. have ankle weight above the pair your wearing, so it's on the calf, have a couple of them taped around your back also. NOW ! Mind you, I am not kidding... If you want this bad enough, then you are going to have to do whatever it takes to raise your BMI, or,,, this is not going to happen for you. I don't care where you put the weights, just so its not noticeable, also drink as much water as you can. Hook up with a different Dr. if you can. Your not the first to do this ! There have been plenty of women on this site that have done this. Is it cheating Yes! Do you want it bad enough? Have you paid into your ins. for a while Yes ! It all balances out in the end, and you get what you want, and need. -

I AM SOOO CONSTIPATED
54Shirley replied to Rosemarie K's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still think maybe 1 or 2 Enemas would be needed to flush it all lose, and then the product mentioned above, or CITRIC MAGNESSIA, (TASTE LIKE 7-UP, AND IT WORKS> I KNOW FROM MY OWN EXPERIENCE.) You would have to probably ask your pharmacist for it. Just keep taking something to keep regular daily -

pre surgical seminar question
54Shirley replied to all4gizmo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I appreciate your answer, and time. My surgeon from 5 years ago could not answer this. He just smiled and said it's to New. We don't know enough about it to answer that question. Everyone that I new, that had it done is in the Ground. Even some Relatives of my Husbands. The latest one was last fall in the Town where I live. I am banded, and would take banding any day compared to what I have seen. Yet I have not met a surgeon that could answer this question. So, again,,, Thanks for your opinion, and time. Shirley. -

O.K. So you love your food, and are probably addicted to it like a Drinker or Smoker. The Good part is you will eat again, just not Groves of it. You will learn to eat sensibly, and as long as you chew your food up well, you won't have a problem. Now the Smoker, or Drinker,,, If they have 1 or 2 there back in the Soup all over again. You won't have that problem. You will eat 3 times a day, and some times snack. You will keep a journal so that you don't go over 1800 calories for a man I believe ! Your surgeon will tell you how much, but that is a lot of food ! ! ! Go to myfitnesspal.com and sign up. It's free.. You type in your food., It looks it up. and bang there are your breakfast calories. It adds all meals up for calories and Protein. Also log your exercise on it. It will do all your calculations for you. Trust me,,, you will definitely eat ! Just remember to chew... Good Health to you, Shirley.. -
I have to make a decision..
54Shirley replied to peacequeen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did 1200 calories a day with no exercise at all, and lost over 100lbs. in a year. Now that is very doable with a journal, and Protein shakes to kill hunger. But can you keep it off is the Question. If the answer is no then I would go with the Dr. suggestion. You can always try the Diet and see how it works. If it;s no good,,, Go see your Dr.... Good Health to you, Shirley. -

pre surgical seminar question
54Shirley replied to all4gizmo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope this is not out of line, because some people choose By Pass. I would ask what is Longevity with the By Pass? I know your Lap Band, but would you refer that to the Dr., or do you think you have a answer for this? My surgeon couldn't answer this, so I am searching for the answer. Thanks, Shirley. -

How do you get enought water each day
54Shirley replied to Lilium's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If the container has water as a ingredient. Then yes ! -
MUSCLE MILK LIGHT. I buy mine on ebay, but don't buy the chocolate. It's Lousy. Cookies n Creme, Peanut Butter and Chocolate, Strawberry Milkshake, Vanilla Creme, and Chocolate Milk are all very good flavors. The key is the protein 25G of protein, and 195 Calories for a 8oz. shake. Our surgeon put us on this, and it does help. Shirley

Yep ! It's like withdrawals... I did Protein Shakes. Protein helps kill the Hunger Beast. I had to go 12 months on a supervised diet. I did 1200 Cal. a day, and lost over 100Lbs. But I credit the Protein Shakes for the help. It helped kill the Hunger...

How do you get enought water each day
54Shirley replied to Lilium's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a e a s y fix! I put a 64 oz bottle filled with Water in my fridge every night. Then from the time I get up in shakes, Soups, decaf tea, whatever you use the water for. Use it from the jug. You will see you will get close to drinking your goal. I use it in Chrystal Light, or sugar free Kool Aid. It's better then POP, and in this heat you will find away to use it up, or near to it. Then wash it out, and fill it up for tomorrow. This water counts! It's not like you have to do 64oz after drinking Protein shakes. That's to much... I checked it with my chief surgeon, and he said he was going to start telling his patients to start doing this. Shirley -
That's Normal... Don't worry about it.

Been there for sure. The only thing I can tell you is that it will take time,,, but month after month as you heal it will start to get better. Shirley.

How do you stop/prevent binge eating?
54Shirley replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use flavored Protein shakes. Peanut Butter chocolate blend works well for me. I use 4 ounces of Water to the powder mixture, and mix in a dessert dish. Freeze it, and you have a great pudding. Plus protein helps kill hunger. sugar free puddings are good. Also Boxed sugar Free Pudding is good to keep around. Sometimes I take a teaspoon, and add it to a about 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. Stir in, and enjoy. It's good. I like Pistachio. -

By some fruit juices that make you go, like apple, or what ever. Your Dr. can prescribe something like Metamucil to keep you going. That or the fruit juice, or stool softeners. -
Just Lovely! 4 days post-op and getting an un-fill
54Shirley replied to TXNurse77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Any time they fill or UN fill ,,,, you must stay on liquids, or you can swell up ! The rule that we go by is 3 days of fluids, 1 day of mushies, and then try food. So being newly stay on fluids for a while. Lukewarm, not cold, or hot ! just stay neutral. You will then be fine.
